- 01:00
- Welcome you tonight to our
- 09:05
- Christmas celebration. Thank you for coming. I know a lot of you are here to see your kids and your grandkids.
- 09:14
- We're also here to hear songs sung in beautiful harmony to our
- 09:20
- Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And we thank you for coming to help us celebrate here at Sunnyside Baptist Church.
- 09:27
- We have a lot to celebrate in that Jesus Christ is our Lord and our Savior and that he was born and that God has manifested his salvation to us.
- 09:38
- And so we rejoice in that and we're glad that you're here tonight to rejoice with us.
- 09:44
- So I'm going to go ahead and pray and then we will get started. Heavenly Father, we come before you tonight and we thank you for everybody who has come.
- 09:52
- I pray a special blessing upon the choir and the children and all who have come here.
- 09:59
- Help us to celebrate you. Help us to rejoice in the gift of your son, Jesus Christ. And I pray that the joy of Christ and the hope of Christ would be full in our lives tonight and this
- 10:12
- Christmas season. We pray these things for the sake of Jesus, the one with whom you are well pleased.
- 10:17
- Amen. Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
- 13:21
- This was the first census taken while Quirinus was governor of Syria and everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
- 13:31
- Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David, which is called
- 13:38
- Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David. Join us in singing,
- 13:48
- Oh Little Town. Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie.
- 13:59
- Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, the silent stars go by.
- 14:09
- Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light.
- 14:19
- The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
- 14:29
- Ye child of Bethlehem, descend to us we pray.
- 14:42
- Cast out our sin and enter in. Be born in us today.
- 14:52
- We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell.
- 15:03
- Oh come to us, abide with us, our
- 15:09
- Lord Emmanuel. Joseph did this in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was with child.
- 15:27
- While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- 16:09
- Little Lord Jesus, lay down His sweet head.
- 16:15
- Let us thank the
- 16:25
- Lord Jesus. May we be blessed each day.
- 17:14
- Join us again as we sing Jesus, Joy of the Highest Heaven. Jesus, joy of the highest heaven.
- 17:30
- Born as a little baby under a wondrous star.
- 17:37
- Like us, crying, He takes His first breath. Held by His mother's helpless, close to her beating heart.
- 17:49
- Jesus, laid in a lowly manger, facing a world of dangers.
- 17:57
- Come to me, a stranger, into a child of God.
- 18:10
- Jesus, King of the highest heaven. Learning to take
- 18:17
- His first steps, that He might bring us life.
- 18:22
- Like us, knowing our smiles and sorrows.
- 18:28
- He showed the way to follow a way that is true and right.
- 18:35
- Jesus, take away every darkness. Steady my simple footsteps, that I might in Your goodness live as a child of God.
- 18:52
- Jesus, take away every darkness. Steady my simple footsteps, that I might in Your goodness live as a child of God.
- 19:21
- In the same region, there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.
- 19:27
- And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them. And the glory of the
- 19:36
- Lord shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them,
- 19:58
- And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising
- 20:07
- God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men, to whom
- 20:13
- He is pleased. Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o 'er the plains.
- 20:39
- And the mountains in reply echo back their joyous strains.
- 20:47
- Gloria in excelsis
- 20:57
- Deo. Gloria in excelsis
- 21:09
- Deo. Come to Bethlehem and see
- 21:17
- Him whose birth the angels sing. Come adore on bended knee
- 21:25
- Christ the Lord, the newborn King. Gloria in excelsis
- 21:40
- Deo. Gloria in excelsis
- 21:52
- Deo. The first Noel the angel did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay.
- 22:13
- In fields where they lay keeping their sheep on a cold winter's night that was so deep.
- 22:28
- Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the
- 22:38
- King of Israel. Then let us all with one accord sing praises to our heavenly
- 22:58
- Lord. That hath made heaven and earth of naught, and with His blood mankind hath borne.
- 23:17
- Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the
- 23:25
- King of Israel. When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another,
- 23:43
- Let us go straight to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.
- 23:49
- So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph and the baby as he lay in the manger.
- 23:59
- The shepherds sing mild,
- 24:21
- God and sinners reconciled. Joyful all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies.
- 24:34
- With angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem.
- 24:42
- Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn
- 24:50
- King. Christ by highest heaven adored,
- 24:59
- Christ the everlasting Lord. Late in time behold
- 25:06
- Him come, offspring of the virgin's womb.
- 25:11
- Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, hail the incarnate
- 25:18
- Deity. Pleased as men with men to dwell,
- 25:24
- Jesus our Emmanuel. Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn
- 25:36
- King. Hail the
- 25:41
- Heav 'n -born Prince of Peace, hail the Son of Righteousness.
- 25:49
- Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings.
- 25:57
- Mild He lays His glory by, born that man no more may die.
- 26:07
- Born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
- 26:15
- Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn
- 26:24
- King. Heard it, wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.
- 27:17
- But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. Blest He lay in bits, sing for the
- 29:30
- Lord. Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation.
- 32:48
- O sing, all ye bright hosts of heaven above.
- 32:58
- Glory to God, all glory in the highest.
- 33:06
- O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore
- 33:15
- Him. O come, let us adore Him, Christ the
- 33:23
- Lord. Yea, Lord, we greet
- 33:31
- Thee, born this happy morning.
- 33:37
- Jesus, to Thee be all glory given.
- 33:46
- Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.
- 33:54
- O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore
- 34:02
- Him. O come, let us adore
- 34:07
- Him, Christ the
- 34:13
- Lord. Sometime later, in the early life of Jesus, the
- 35:54
- Bible tells us that wise men came seeking a newborn King. Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the
- 36:02
- King, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, Where is he who has been born
- 36:07
- King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him. When Herod the
- 36:13
- King heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the
- 36:23
- Messiah was to be born. They said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is what has been written by the prophets.
- 36:30
- And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the leaders of Judah.
- 36:36
- For out of you shall come forth a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel. Then Herod secretly called the magi, and determined from them the exact time the star appeared.
- 36:48
- And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go, and search carefully for the child. And when you have found him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship him.
- 36:57
- As we traverse the far, fierce storm,
- 37:39
- Star with rose, westward leading, still proceeding,
- 37:48
- Guide us to thy birthplace, King and God, and sacrifice all.
- 38:13
- O star of wonder, star of night,
- 38:20
- Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding,
- 38:30
- Guide us to thy perfect light. After hearing the king, they went their way.
- 38:47
- And the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them, until it came and stood over the place where the child was.
- 38:53
- When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
- 38:59
- And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him.
- 39:05
- Then opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. What can
- 39:31
- I give him? Give yourself.
- 45:06
- Well, as the choir finds their way back to their seats for a moment, hopefully you have acquired one of these candles for our candlelight portion of our service.
- 45:19
- Go ahead and turn those on. If you didn't grab one, we have some ushers ready to come help you and come bring you a candle if you didn't happen to grab one.
- 45:28
- So before we start singing together, we're going to be lowering down all the lights. So these are going to be our lights, plus the lighted stage.
- 45:37
- So if you will go ahead and get your candles out, let's sing some Christmas choruses, some Christmas carols together.
