Jeremiah’s Charge Against a Defiled Nation

We will be in the book of Jeremiah in chapter 2. You can turn in your Bibles there now friends. We will begin in verse 7. Here now is the Word of God and may the Spirit of the Lord attend the reading of his Holy Word.

And I brought you into a plentiful country to eat the fruit thereof but when ye entered ye defiled my land and made mine heritage a abomination. The priests said not where is the Lord and they that handled the law?

Corrupt Priests and False Prophets

Knew me not the pastors who? transgressed against me and the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked after things that do not profit. Wherefore I will yet plead with you saith the Lord and with your children's children.

Israel’s Exchange of Glory for Worthless Gods

Will I plead? For Passover the owls of Chittim and see and send unto Kadar and Consider diligently and see if there be such a thing hath a nation Changed their gods which are yet no gods. But my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Forsaking the Fountain of Living Waters

Be astonished. Oh ye heavens at this and be horribly afraid. Be ye very desolate saith the Lord. For my people have committed two evils. They have forsaken me the fountain of living waters and hewed them out cisterns.

Broken cisterns that can hold no water. I will stop their friends. What a sad deplorable Deplorable picture is presented here of the nation Israel who has turned its back on God. The religious leaders are Predominantly corrupt and or nothing but false guides who don't know God.

National Apostasy and the Judgment of Jerusalem

The people are backslidden and full of sin and adultery. They are self-reliant and self-sufficient and have no need of God. The Jews and Days of Jeremiah were similar to the Jews in the time of Christ Who were so hardened in the hearts and so far away from God they? crucified the Lord of Glory and Consequently brought destruction down upon them to where.

Everything they held dear their temple their houses their families were violently taken from them today. We have anything goes Philosophy here in America where adultery is accepted and homosexual unions are accepted and perversion is promoted and Fornication and drunkenness are common everyday Lifestyles, and it's not much better in the church for we live in the day of an antinomian Church.

Antinomianism and the Rejection of Moral Law

The word Antinomian is derived from the Greek words Anti which means against and no moss which means law. It promotes lawlessness in churches because they hold that no one Can be held accountable to any moral law.

It is only required of them to believe. Then they can live as they please. So antinomians Believe that once saved always saved means you can sin all you want to and still go to heaven. That's why our average Congregations a day Or nothing, but hotbeds of vice and sin.

The Loss of Moral Direction in Church and Society

There is no moral compass in our young people today. Because there's no moral code in the church you just do what's right in your own eyes but back when America was still a Christian nation society back then.

Look to the church for direction and to God for guidance. But a pagan nation will just live hedonistic lives Unto themselves without any thought to a God in heaven and a antinomian Church will be very self-sufficient and live and exist on an island of self-preservation.

Sin, Judgment, and the Need for Revival

That's why people die and perish and drop in the hell by the minute. Because the church is so self-absorbed. It's a very dangerous place to be because sin brings the judgment of God upon a sinful people.

Because God is no respecter of persons. Nation and church both lie under his judgment. Only a heaven-sent spiritual awakening can turn the hearts of a nation back to God and only revival in the church.

Returning to God’s Holiness and Obedience

Can make the people of God? Sensitive and aware of the holiness of God who demands obedience from every follower of his. This nation like so many other nations sits on a Prepositions a wall that's shaken like Humpty Dumpty.

And like Humpty Dumpty this nation will soon fall off and have a tremendous crash and the devastation will be so wide and Destruction will be so deep that nothing and no one will be able to put it back together again.
