On Eagles' Wings Pt 110 — Don Courville

Well, I'm glad to be back with you again today on Eagle's Wings. Our God is good. He reigns Lord open up our ears that we might hear you today fill us. Holy Spirit afresh that we might be controlled by You in Jesus name.

Amen. While it's exciting the battles getting rough. Jesus is coming soon. We don't know when maybe today. Maybe next week next year, but he's coming soon. Are you ready? Are your sins covered by the blood of the Lamb?

Do you have peace in your heart? Jesus said my peace I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled. He says he says He loves us. He says the Father himself loves you. Why are you troubled. You remember Martha and Mary?

Sitting there at his feet Mary was peaceful. But running about in the kitchen all disturbed about something that she had no business being disturbed about she wasn't Peaceful, you know last week. I shared with you a little bit about what God revealed to me to me about my heart and How I had fear of man.

When my friend asked me about a translation and I didn't want to offend him. And tell him the truth and he shared a little bit with me and then I told him a few things what God showed me about the versions and I and I ended up last week sharing you about with you about one of the versions and As we go on maybe I'll share some more things with you.

Debates Over Bible Translations

You know, there's some books out. There's a there's a comic book if you'd like to get a hold of a good comic books powerful. It's called savage taught sabotage on the versions you go to your Bible bookstore and you ask him for sabotage by by Chick publications and if they don't have it ask him to get it.

If they won't get it and they don't carry it then find you another bookstore. But that's a good one and then there's some other little bucklets out on the versions that you need to get a hold of the foundation and authority of the Word of God by dr. Bruce D Cummins The Massalon Baptist Temple Massalon, Ohio and others.

Dr. Fuller has an excellent one out. There's one by El Bynum on the King James fans. And this is out of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas my friend. We better be careful. We're in dangerous days and last week. I was sharing with you about some things God taught me about my heart about fear.

Fear of Man, Lying, and Abraham's Failure

You remember that? Do you know that? Fear produces lying and that's what the Spirit of God came along and said I just wasn't honest with my friend and he said what was that and I said it's lying. Reveals a lack of love to God and I'm not proud of it.

You know if you go over to Genesis 12, you remember about Abraham when there was a famine in the land. And one of the things that get us in trouble is if their circumstances come along. They're pretty rough and we start running we're getting trouble, but there was a famine in the land and you know.

What happened he went down south? Genesis 12 verse 10 said there was a famine 11 and 12 says it came to pass when he's come near to enter into Egypt that he said into Sarah his wife. Behold now. I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon.

Therefore it shall come to pass when the Egyptians shall see thee that they shall say this is his wife and they will kill me. But they will save thee alive say I pray thee thou art my sister that it may be well with me For thy sake and my soul shall live because of thee.

Boy, sometimes we wonder why God would use a man like Abraham that doesn't bother me. I wonder why God would use a man like me. But he was lying. He was a chicken. He was really a chicken. Using his wife for a shield gonna make her lie then it comes back home.

What are we doing? You know, we can make our lying look very sophisticated. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. You know if he'd obeyed God and stayed in the land like God had told him he wouldn't have been in this jam.

But God's always good to us and God covered him by his grace. We always. I Don't know why sometimes we always tend to back away from the pressure and won't just stand up even like Peter. I'll never deny you Lord.

Crucified With Christ and Freed From Fear

You will and I will. Without the power of the Holy Spirit. We can do all things through Christ. But you got to remember the flesh is weak. Desperately wicked. Paul said I know there's no good thing in me and God intends for us to live at the cross.

He intends us to live there crucified Romans 6 if we'll be crucified reckon ourself dead to sin live unto God. There won't be anything to scare us. Nothing can touch you if you're dead in Christ, you reckon yourself dead.

You can't hurt a dead man. One of the reasons that we're so afraid is because we're not dead to self. We're not dead to self. We're not dead to sin. And Abraham asked her to lie the old rascal. But you and I do the same thing the fear of man brings a snare the scripture says.

You're looking neighbor in Genesis 12 19 and 20 after he got in trouble. He was brought up onto the under the stand and and they said why says thou she is my sister so I might have taken her to wife now therefore behold I wife take her and go thy way and Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him and they sent him away and his wife and all that he had, you know, that's an unanswered question.

Why? Why'd you say it Abraham? Why do you do it? Why do you lie? It's sin and I shared with you last week. It's a lack of love and trust in God. You go back to first John for that. You come over to Genesis 20 you think a man would learn his lesson.

No. We're just like Oh Abraham to you come over to Genesis 20 and you look about oh say. Well the whole passage really 1 through 16. He did it again. Went down south again. This time. It's a Bimelech.

Asked his wife to lie and Same old story got in trouble again. It's just a repeat and You come down to verse 11 and Abraham said because I thought surely the fear of God is not in this place. And again, he got asked the question in verse 10 Bimelech said to him Abraham.

What sauce thou that thou has done this thing? Why have you done this back in nine at Bimelech's called Abraham said unto him? What is thou done unto us and what have I offended thee that thou has brought on me in my kingdom a great sin.

You remember God hit him. Thousand deeds unto me that ought not to be done. Here's a godly man a God-fearing man. Offending the unsaved by not giving a testimony of the power of God to them and you and I do it, too we'll have an opportunity to witness to somebody and We won't speak and that's the fear of man, and we will offend them and in hell.

For all eternity they may remember you or me as the one that could have led him to Calvary. That could have led him to Jesus that could have let him out of their bondage out of their religion that left him dry that didn't Give them any hope.

That didn't give them any joy that didn't give them any peace. We could have told him about how Christ died for them on the cross how he loved us and shed his blood for us. And it's the blood and the blood alone that atones and not our works.

And you worked with this friend for years, and you wouldn't tell him about Jesus. And you get to the judgment seat and God the Holy Spirit will bring up to you and me all the times we lied and Jesus will say why and for all eternity our friend in hell will say why didn't you tell me I?

Could be say why didn't you tell me I could have my sins forgiven. Just simply by believing and trusting in Jesus as my Savior. Why? My friend the cost of the fear of man is terrible. Terrible. Jesus died on the cross to deliver us from this fear of man.

Abimelech, Isaac, and the Consequences of Fear

Let's don't go back into the bondage again. He's delivered us and set us free. The fear of man brings us there and God in his goodness though prospered Abraham materially. But let me tell you something.

He had no testimony before fair before Bimelech Genesis 20 verse 16 and unto Sarah Bimelech said behold I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold he is to thee a covering of the eyes.

He's a sad sight to see. Wives, how would you like to have your husband call that and unto all that are with thee and with all other thus? She was reproved. God was good though, and he blessed Abraham.

The fear of man, you know, the Bible says in Philippians 128 and nothing terrified by your adversaries. Why should we be afraid? I'll never forget the first time that I led a man to Jesus Christ. I was just new in this stuff.

I hadn't known much about it. But I was getting introduced to the Holy Spirit and the power that he wanted to produce in my life and I wanted to lead somebody else to Jesus because I love Jesus now and So I it was a long time ago back about 1969.

I think it was 68 69 back in there somewhere. And I got a hold of a little pamphlet called the four spiritual laws and I had another man working under me in the Air Force and I was supposed to train him and I was stationed in Omaha at off at Air Force Base and God told me to witness to that man and I remember we got out and we refueled.

Oh General Holloway's airplane General SAC command and When we got done, I said Steve, can I share something with you for a minute? About Jesus and I went through that little booklet with him about the four spiritual laws.

How we're sinners and Christ died for our sins. We need to repent and trust him as our Savior and I went through that and I said Steve and I was scared. And he was just a young kid. I was several years older than him.

I didn't have anything to be afraid of. But it's just fear Satanic opposition. And I said when he got I got done. I said Steve. His name is Steve Okian. I don't know where he was. He was in Hawaiian. Someday, I'd like to find him again.

I said would you like to trust Christ as your Savior and he said yes, I would and Then I said you would. Man, there wasn't much faith there. But God took that little bit there and stretched it out and he prayed and got saved and we were a few minutes getting back Late back to the office and and we had a mean old sergeant.

Oh sergeant Walker short little old guy Mean as a devil himself, and I hope he's got saved since then. But we were late getting back there a few minutes in it and and I don't know if that was right or wrong.

Any other time I think it would have been okay except that he asked us why was we late a few minutes getting late. Any other time any other thing it probably been okay. Except I said Sarge. I just took a few months to talk to Steve about Jesus Christ.

This guy come unglued. I mean he just went into a volcano explosion eruption type of a fit he jerked me out into the hangar and Just proceeded to chew me out from top to bottom and bottom to top. Just chew me up if he'd been a shark, there wouldn't been a thing left.

He was mad and mean and then he started cussing me out in the name of Jesus and Then I said wait a minute Sarge. I just began to get in a little bit on this boldness. I was sort of a timid fellow. I mean I was really timid.

Bold Witness Through the Holy Spirit

I Dated back when I was in Bible College. I dated the Dean of men's Daughter and he told her and she told me this several years ago that I was the most timid person. He'd ever been around. That's how much sin had damaged my life as I was growing up.

So for me to say this to him was really something but I said wait a minute Sarge. You can't cuss me out in the name of my Lord. He died on the cross for me. Jesus died for me on the cross and you can't cuss me out in his name.

You do whatever else you want, but not in his name. Oh, man. He was mad. He was fit to be tied and He says tomorrow morning. I'm gonna haul you up and get you court-martialed and that was it. He went home and I went home.

I Prayed all night long. I was scared, but I prayed and I prayed and I prayed I come back the next morning. I didn't know what was happened next morning. Again, Corbill. Let's go out in the hangar. He called me out there and let me tell you something.

I'll never forget. What happened? That man was whipped. God the Holy Spirit had beat that man to pieces that night. He was humble apologetic. He just apologized all over himself for what he had done and of course, I apologized.

I told him that I was wrong, too. I was wrong. You know what we became the best friends he would he would do anything I wanted. We became close friends after that. Don't let the Satan Satan bluff you.

You stick up for Jesus. You ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with boldness. Ask him to give you somebody to talk to today about Jesus. That's the most exciting thing there is in the world. If Jesus Christ died for you on the cross, and he set you free from your sin.

You've got something worth talking about. Go talk about it. If you want to talk about Jesus, then maybe we better pray for you to get saved. Someone used to say you're either a missionary or a mission field.

You either love Jesus or you don't. If you're saved then tell him about it. Jesus commanded you to go into the world and do it. So we learn these lessons and nothing terrified by your adversaries. Genesis 26 24.

God told Abraham fear not for I am with thee and will bless thee and multiply thy seed. Repeatedly God has had to tell us not to be afraid of man. Not to be afraid of man. I'll tell you something else fear produces fear produces an example to our children of ungodliness.

Fear's Contagious Influence on Children

And we've got these little things that come up. Are you afraid. Say are you afraid of lightning. Lightning storm comes? Do you run from window to window to window or tornadoes coming or there's a spider or a snake?

You show your fear and your children will catch that fear. Probably. I mean God said don't be afraid. I Believe he meant don't be afraid of anything. Trust him believe him. Use common sense. There's a tornado coming.

Go get in a safe place. If there's a snake coming you let the snake go and you go your way. Don't fool around with him but. Let's watch this area of fear, you know. It's contagious. The example to our children is contagious and you just look at Isaac.

What Isaac do you go over to Genesis 26? Isaac did the same thing his dad did went down south ask his wife to lie pretend that he was his sister. Got in trouble about the same thing the very same thing and.

Then he got called on the carpet to in Genesis 26 and verse 9 and a Bimelech. Here's it with a Bimelech again. Can you believe it. Bimelech called Isaac and said behold of a surety? She is a wife and how says thou she is my sister.

Here again. There's no legitimate answer to this thing of being afraid and Isaac said unto him because I said lest I die for her. Abimelech said what is this that thou has done unto us? One of the people might lightly have lain with thy wife and thou shouldest have brought guilt guiltiness upon us and a Bimelech charged his people saying he that touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death and Isaac sowed in that land and we and received in the same year and hundredfold and the Lord blessed him.

God's grace. Covers us my friend. It covered Isaac. It covers you and I but we can go farther with God. We can go deeper. We can go we can go higher if we'll get rid of our fears and so We offend the unsaved and they say what's this?

You've done to me. I fear of the unsaved does not reveal God to them. And you know what? There was Abraham Isaac and then who else came along. Jacob. Known as the deceiver until God got a hold of his life.

He had a wrestling match there. Do you wonder why? His grandfather was afraid and his lied his father was afraid and lied. And so he comes along and does the same thing and this story goes on. The fear of man brings a snare.

Restitution, Honesty, and Revival

God really hit me hard on this and I need to be hit hard when I'm wrong. The greater the privilege of sharing the word the greater the kick the Holy Spirit a gift you and I fear produces. Unbelief fear produces lying.

I don't know why it is. But it's in the old nature and it comes back from our great great great grandparents Adam and Eve, but a child gets caught doing something and you say why did you what you do? They're gonna try to get out of it until they get broke in this area.

And we teach them to tell the truth most of the time they lie because they're afraid of the punishment. Far better to face the punishment and be honest than The lie and escape the punishment because you really won't escape in the long run.

Some of you may have a restitution you need to make you may need to go back to a friend a mom and dad or something. And tell them something you did several years ago. Maybe 26 years ago. You did something you lied and you still remember it right now.

The fact that it's still there is because you can bring you can remember it right now a time you lied. Let me tell you something. Revival is in front isn't fun because it's like getting run over what by a semi God just smashes us beats us up.

But when he's done with us, we're clean and we have a clear conscience. One of the reason reasons we can't look somebody in the eye is because we don't have a clear conscience. How you doing? You have unbelief and lying in your life because of this fear and fear produces an example of unbelief.

Fear, Faith, and the Storm on the Sea

Let me take you over to another passage in Mark Chapter 4 you remember the story verse 35 about in the boat the same day when the evening was come He said unto them let us pass over into the other side and when they had sent away the multitude they took him even as he was in the ship and They and there were also with him other little ships and there arose a great storm of wind and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full and don't you like this part and He was in the hinder part of the ship.

Jesus was in the back part of the ship asleep on a pillow and They awoke him and they said unto him master carest thou not that we perish and he arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea peace be still and the wind ceased and there was a great calm and Here comes the punchline and he said unto them Why are you so fearful?

How is it that you have no faith? What is it you're afraid of? What is it you're afraid of. Are you afraid to talk to someone about Jesus? Why are you afraid of something at work? Why are you afraid of the dark?

Why are you afraid to make a decision that you know God is telling you to do it? Why I received a letter the other day about a Problem someone has and and we try to minister to people. I'm not interested in programs so much.

We're interested in people and we minister to a lot of people as best we can sometimes as much as our funds will let us and This letter stated They were not happy in their church and they had a problem there.

And I and I know about the church. Know about the problem and I think I know what they should do. But they don't want to hurt others in leaving the church. Why is it? That we would rather offend God than offend man.

Why is it we would rather be offensive to the Holy Spirit? Then be offensive to somebody else is it not a Flaw in our love for our Savior. You know what? It's said of John Knox. Said by the regent Morton over Knox's open grave.

He was quoted as saying he lies there that never feared the face of man to fear God and to fear nothing else in God's universe. This indeed is to be a man. Someone said Why are we so afraid? Why are you so fearful?

How is it that you have no faith? You know one of the things that Jesus said when he came back. He said was he was he gonna find faith on the earth? He said if it was possible, even the very elect would be deceived my friend.

We're going into days of deception like you've never dreamed of Deception in our churches. Our churches are going back under the power under the power of Rome. Our fundamental churches are going that way and if they will not Repent of their wrong ways then it's time to come out from among them and be a separate set the Lord.

We're going into new days. I met with some godly men. The other day we had a day of prayer and I told him men. We're going to Pat. We're going away. We've never gone before. God's doing new things with the church.

He's leading us new ways and all we can do is follow him day by day. But we cannot follow him in fear. We have to follow him in faith. Whatever is not of faith is sin. Many years ago There was a little boy trying to get to Holland and he got onto a boat and he was afraid and and so he he locked himself in a crate and It happened to be several weeks journey and the crate was put down in the storage of the ship and it so happened that someone found him down there a Few days after they left and they brought him out and they asked him about why he was in there.

Why didn't why did he try to hide like that? They shared with him that he would have probably died down there for several being down there several weeks and he said I Was afraid To ask you just to give me a ride.

He wanted to get back home the little fella did and he said Son, you could have died. It's just like that with us. Our fear can produce a death in our lives a death to the power of the Holy Spirit. We've got to get rid of it.

We've got to move on by faith. The fear of man bringeth a snare. But who so put it this trust in the Lord shall be safe safety is with Jesus. That's why if you're not saved you're not safe. Until your sins are under the blood of the Lamb of Calvary.

Come to Jesus and then stay with Jesus don't go away from him. Well our times gone. Let me leave you with this thought Jesus Christ is all you need is He all you want. Until next time may God richly bless you my friend.
