And we are back, further adventures in Mormon witnessing. And in this segment, we wanted to start off just answering at least one major common objection
00:15
I think Christians have to the whole thing that you're doing, Jeff and Luke. And basically it's this idea of going out to the street corner and passing out tracts.
00:24
I mean, in our kind of modern Christian age, a lot of people say passing out tracts, isn't that just culturally just not the thing to do?
00:33
Shouldn't you just be friends with them and get to know them and those kinds of things? It doesn't seem a little bit in your face to be out there in a corner and passing out tracts.
00:40
I think people think of the way of master stuff and all that kind of thing and attach that to maybe what you're doing. I mean, how would you answer that kind of objection?
00:47
Sure, well, first of all, we have a command in scripture to go. And so there's no borders around that.
00:53
You just, you go and you preach the gospel. Interestingly, people that make those comments about why we can't go there and do that, these are the same
00:59
Christians typically that will go to foreign missions and they'll go to a village and just reach people on the street in the village there, but they won't do it here.
01:05
You ask those people many times, that's my experience. But I think that's what you see as sort of the Christian MO in the book of Acts is you see them, of course, as Paul is converted and, or Saul is converted, and he immediately is in Damascus and he's reasoning with the
01:19
Jews in the synagogues, proving that Jesus is a Messiah. Now that probably hurt a lot of their feelings. I'm sure that he stepped on toes.
01:25
I mean, read in Acts chapter 18, Apollos, he's eloquent in the scriptures, mighty and all those things. And it says that he vigorously refuted the
01:31
Jews publicly, proving that Jesus is the Messiah. You look in Acts chapter 17, you see
01:38
Paul was waiting for them at Athens. His fear was being provoked within them as he observed the city full of idols.
01:44
So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews, place of religious worship, and the God -fearing Gentiles are in the marketplace every day with those who happen to be present.
01:52
And then he's in the Areopagus, talking to people in the highest level of philosophical debate and discussion.
01:58
And so I think that it can cause riots. It can cause floggings and stonings.
02:08
But God is glorified and his truth is proclaimed and the gospel is the power of God for salvation.
02:13
Here's what I love about the Mormon temple, is that I don't have to go fishing. I mean, and not know where to get them.
02:20
I mean, I have this huddle of 100 ,000 people that are thinking about spiritual things, that are listening to things about Jesus, and I get to go where they're at.
02:28
If you knew where the net was just full of the fish. Yeah, cast your net over there. Would you just go catch them where they're at?
02:35
And the amazing thing that people need to recognize about the Mormon temple, is the Mormon church uses this event to draw people into their church.
02:42
The gospel of Mormonism is no gospel at all. It does not save. And I agree with James White when he says, to preach a false gospel is to commit eternal murder.
02:51
And if Christians know that this church is preaching a false gospel, we need to go and be present to be light to this world, light to this darkness, to warn them, to let them know with love, with respect, with grace.
03:02
And like I said, the greatest compliment that we get is the fact that we're loving and gracious. And I will tell you this, we also have an invitation from the
03:07
Mormon church to do this. The apostle Orson Pratt in Mormonism says this, he says, convince us of our errors of doctrine if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or by the word of God, and we will be ever grateful for the information.
03:21
You will ever have the pleasing reflection that you have been instruments in the hands of God of redeeming your fellow beings.
03:26
That's Orson Pratt, Orson Pratt, Apostle of the Mormon Church in the Seer, page 15, 1854. Let's go right now.
