God’s Forgiveness as a Divine Attribute

Welcome to the Rapid Bull, daily edition, where we provide a quick biblical interpretations and applications. This is a ministry of striving for eternity.

As we look at the last of the attributes of God that we want to examine, this last one in the area of morality is one of forgiveness. This is one that for Christians we value the most. We think about the forgiveness of God.

And when we think about this, the fact is that God allows us, as it says in 1 John, to continually come to Him asking forgiveness over and over again, which is an amazing thing. It kind of brings us back to something we looked at last couple of episodes with long suffering.

God Welcomes the Repentant and Gives Wisdom Generously

But He welcomes us with open arms. In fact, James 1 .5 would say when we come asking for wisdom, He gives it to us without criticizing. So we can look at the forgiveness of God and we see in Numbers 14 .18 that the Lord is slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression.

God’s Steadfast Love and Removal of Sin

We see in Psalm 86 .5, For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. How forgiving is God? Well, in Psalm 103 .11 and 12, it says, For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him.

As far as the East is from the West, so does He remove transgressions from us. You can never meet the East and West. That's how far His forgiveness goes.
