Hello everybody, welcome back to another God -Centered Recommendation. This is Andy Cain, and today I want to recommend to you this book called
Biblical Eldership. It is an urgent call to restore biblical church leadership by Alexander Strzok.
And I had the good fortune of actually speaking to him on the phone one time, and just a wonderful, wonderful teacher.
And this book here, now there's other ones that are good, doesn't mean the other ones are bad, but this in my view is probably one of the best available resources, aside from the
Word of God itself, on biblical eldership. What a pastor is, what an elder should look like, and talking about the office of elder, and how as much as people want to say it's all these things, it's not congregational rule.
God does not place his oversight in people that are not qualified. He has the office of elder, so a church is to be overseen by a plurality of biblically qualified elders.
Meaning, you want to have more than one pastor, and you want to make sure they're all qualified before they start conducting oversight.
That's why God tells his elders to make decisions to have oversight, is because he wants to make sure they're mature and qualified, and so on and so forth.
And so, this book does a great job of outlining what that qualifications look like, what eldership looks like, what it looks like in practice, and all those things.
And we will do a series eventually on the God -centered church, where we will walk through a lot of what is contained in this book.
And so, we'll make sure to note that as we go through it. So, I encourage you, if you're in a church that it seems like the inmates are running the asylum, or you constantly have splits or problems and things like this, it's probably because you don't have the proper leadership structure in place.
And so, if you're a Christian that wants to understand what the biblical understanding of eldership is, if you're a church that says, we want to be biblically faithful, even if it means we have to change what we've always done to be as biblically faithful as possible, and you want to learn about eldership,
I highly, highly recommend this book. Amen. Have a great day, y 'all. God bless.
