We're in Genesis the 7th chapter Dennis let me ask you a question
What difference did it make if any? That all of the world was vegetarian or was it there was no fear joy
What difference did it make if any? That all of the world was vegetarian
I Didn't ask you if they'd ever seen rain so because they had not seen rain.
They were all vegetarian Great can you answer all right
Russell? Can you answer the question? Well we're in the seventh chapter, but I had asked the question
What difference did it make? Or was it so that all of the world was a vegetarian
What is the difference that all of the world? was vegetarian
Why did it make a difference and what was it? Fred you have any idea
Fred Do you have any idea? right
First of all it's the Lord. We're talking about not God I Want you to learn the difference the
Lord is the one that made everything Deals with everything he deals with us on this earth now
The Lord made it that way that's true But What would have taken place had he not made it that way joy
No well
I'm so glad that David walked in Because we're looking for the answer to the question
What difference did it make that all of the world was vegetarian?
at this time Well maybe the questions wrong
Was it important? that The Lord made all of the animals and man
Just to eat vegetables We haven't had the flood yet Well, well we're dealing with before the flood
What would it have been like had there? been meat -eating tigers
All right, it would have caused major chaos Who came in?
Paul Well, it would have caused major chaos for Noah Think about Noah.
That's what we're studying today as Noah put all of these animals in the ark
If there had been fear between man and beast he would have had a hard time
If they had been meat -eating animals, he would had a harder time so to keep everything peaceful We must remember
That there was no fear between animal and man in fact man is the only animal
That could kill Do you ever think of that?
verse 1 and The Lord said unto Noah Come thou and all of thy house into the ark for thee have
Have I seen righteous before me in this generation? We talked about the righteousness of Noah last week
These are the generations of Noah Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations and Noah walked with God now this chapter gives us
The performance of what was told in the foregoing chapter Both concerning the destruction of the old world and the salvation of Noah For we may be sure that no word of God shall fall to the ground
There we left Noah busy about the ark And full of care to get it finished in time
What were his neighbors doing? Craig at this time Noah's neighbor
Remember the whole world was running evil because Noah's the only righteous man
His neighbors were laughing at him Dennis can you see that?
Could you see it today if in Corsicana somebody Said they had received word from the
Lord to build an ark And he sets about building this gigantic box
What people laugh at him Yes, they would
Well He was continually going about it for how many years bill
No in his building. They are Russell All right
We don't know that it took him that long to build the ark But it was 120 years from the time he received the instructions to build until the flood came 120 years
That's longer than we live now the
The Lord's not going to destroy the earth again, and he tells us this
By water there won't be a universal flood But there will be fire
The next time the call itself
It's a very kind Call like that of a tender father to his children
It come To come in the doors Indoors when he sees
Night or a storm coming I can remember my mother stepping out on the back porch and Calling me home
Of course, I wasn't but a block or two away but I always heard her and And He the
Lord calls this Family come in and all of our house
That small family Into the ark
We observe here and Noah did not go into the ark Until he was invited in Why is that important David?
Exactly It's very comfortable to follow the calls of Providence And to see
God going before us in every step that we take verse 2 7 2
Of every clean beast thou shalt take into take to thee by sevens
The male and his female and the beasts that are not clean by to the male and his female
Now God does not bid him go into the ark, but come into the ark
We discussed this last week Greg. Tell me the difference between go and come
All right, but it's more than an invitation David right a picture of salvation to come unto me
Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost So we find in this word come
Implying that God would go with him the Lord would Would lead him
Even into the ark accompany him in it and in due time bring him safely out of it
It's very desirable to have the presence of God with us Is that true
David? for this is
All to the comfort of every condition Don't don't think for a moment that you can put the
Lord on hold It was this that made
Noah's ark which was to him to be a prison To be to him not only a refuge but a palace this was his home for the next year or so Now he didn't know how long
Three of fowls also of the air by sevens Male and the female to keep them seed alive upon the face of all of the earth
For yet seven days and I will cause it to rain upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights and Every living substance that I have made will
I destroy From off of the face of the earth Dennis named something that was not destroyed other than the ark and its occupants in the flood
What? No that come out of the ark What?
The fish there's nothing said about the fish what?
Yes Now We see the first of 40 days observed here
We'll run across the section of 40 later on many times through the
Bible Yes Well We'll find out in just a minute
No, that's a good question Glad you asked it and Noah did according unto all that the
Lord commanded him Since the Lord commanded him and Noah was 600 years old when the flood of waters
Was upon the earth and Noah went in and his sons and his wife and his sons wives with him into the ark because of the waters of the flood of Clean beasts and of beasts that are not clean and of fowls unto everything that creepeth upon the earth
Now comes Fregg's question David I guess you'll have to answer this
Please take note of the fact that God had instructed Noah about the difference between the clean and the unclean animals
And this was long before the law Is there any record of that?
Yes that had to be and it had to be by By not actually saying to us the words, but he had to instruct
Adam Adam saw it Adam instructed his boys
Through Seth that has come to Noah So Fred the clean and the unclean
The clean are those that can be offered in sacrifice the unclean are those that cannot be offered in sacrifice
But And we'll find out more about those when we study the law
Ten and it came to pass after seven days one week that the waters of the flood were upon the earth and in the 600th year of Noah's life in the second month the 17th day of the month
The same day were all of the fountains of the great deep broken up and The windows of heaven were opened
Now turn to Isaiah 57 verses 1 through 3 and David I'd like for you to read that for us the judgment of God Shall not come until all his people are secure 57 1 through 3
What's he muttering about just a minute read louder.
All right, the righteous are Caused to vanish and no man understands or layeth it to heart and Merciful men are removed and none considering or give heed to the fact that The righteous is taken away from the evil to come
The righteous shall enter into peace They shall rest in their beds each one walking in his uprightness but draw but draw hither ye sons of the sorcerers you witches the seed of the adulterer and the whore
Satan It is now come for you to collect your reward
Payment for work rendered and the windows of heaven were opened.
I can't swim I've always had a fear of water in my younger days we
Be and I went on a couple occasions one in particular in a boat
On Lake Lavon. I Can still see that boat
I can see us in that boat For there was a storm that come up and it come quickly
But I had no fear because The neighbor that owned the boat and assured me that the boat couldn't sink
Even if it was just full it wouldn't sink So I rested in that But as that boat was run down a trough and turn into a wave
The people on shore were beginning to get excited and about to send someone out after us, but we made it
So this water This storm
This catastrophe Is unlike anything that we have ever witnessed
And the rain was up on the earth 40 days and 40 nights now This was not just a rain rain like we're looking for In the self same day entered
Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth the sons of Noah and Noah's wife and the three sons of his wives
Three wives of his sons with them into the ark they and every beast after his kind and all of the
Cattle after their kind and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth
After his kind and every fowl after his kind every bird of every sort and They went in unto
Noah They went in unto Noah in the ark to and to of all flesh wherein is the breadth of life and They that went in went in male and female of all flesh as God had commanded him
And the Lord shut him in Why did the
Lord shut the door? Dennis Well, we know
I had to open and close the door many times to get it to fit right 85
Tons That's a massive door. I Can't imagine that much 85 tons sounds like more than yes
Well, that was a miracle in itself. It was a miracle that Noah Was able to get men to help him
Just To open and close and fit the door I Greg I have a hard time visualizing
Fitting this door Into the side of the ark as many times as I've Built things in my woodworking career and hardly ever.
Did I get it right first time? B can give you stories about that What That's true
Well, he may have well, it was a massive massive undertaking if the doorway that The ship which was not a ship.
It was a box flat bottom box But what would have happened if Noah had the responsibility of closing the door
All Since you're here Think about that What was the?
What would have happened if Noah had had the responsibility of closing this door?
Well, he might not have got it done, but suppose he could close it What would have happened?
Paul Dennis I can't hear you all as He Would had to be out there to push
Well, he probably would have let some of his friends in If he had been closing that I can see it almost closed and here comes a friend and he squeezes him in But it wasn't like that and this
Boat represents our salvation So the same thing holds here the
Lord shuts the door we don't Or we would try to get our family in That's right
That's right bread Mm -hmm.
I Don't know whether that's correct or not, but he he took two of every kind if those were walking birds and they took two of them and Two of the kind of flies in the air
Well, Noah could not shut the door 17 and the flood was 40 days upon the earth and the waters increased and bear up the ark and it was lifted up above the earth and the waters prevailed were increased greatly upon the earth and The ark went upon the face of the waters and the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth and it was
And all the high hills that were under the whole heaven were covered 15 cubits upward did the waters prevail and the mountains were covered
The hills and mountains Now I've never seen any of these on the earth
Skyline before Why are they here Dennis? the hills and the mountains
Why were they here at that time? well
When he made the earth it was smooth We know this from several things
There were no high mountains. No low valleys But when the water canopy collapsed
Now if you can imagine that was that's so much water That the earth broke
It broke into continents and The plates are drifting they're still drifting today
But by by the mountains and the valleys was the water contained
The mountains had to come into effect They had to appear at this time to hold the water
There's more water on the earth than there was originally Because the canopy collapsed
David you want to add something to that? Well the great volcano action that was taking place
The canopy of water breaking and pouring down on the earth the mountains begin to appear
And as I said, they're still moving as a result of this catastrophic catastrophe the earth tipped 22 and a half degrees
Now How do you measure a ball in space 22 and a half degrees
Bill, what do you go by? What?
All right Next week I want you to Well, we'll go into it here
This created the ice caps on the North and South Pole by the way not that it makes any difference, but the magnetic field and The positive end is at the north
Negative at the south. It's in the process of changing. It has changed periodically over the world's lifespan
Now what causes that science doesn't know? But it's in the process take years and years to flip -flop, but that it has started
Well sure, but it'll never make it It's just Displacing the earth from here to there the water the river.
I think of the Colorado River that runs through the Grand Canyon it is
I guess that's the Colorado But it's forever washing silt
Well next week come with everything that Noah is going to see and experience for the first time
When he comes out of the ark We'll bring him out next week. I think and all flesh died that moved upon the earth both of fowl and of the cattle and the beasts of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth and every man
This is why the ocean is salty it
It will clean itself If you can imagine all of the dead animals at this time
Millions and millions and millions of them But the ocean cleans itself
All and whose nostrils was the breath of life of all that was in the city in the dry land died not the fish
This is why there are so many species that man hasn't discovered yet And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground
Both man and cattle and creeping thing and the fowl of the heaven and were destroyed from the earth and Noah only remained alive and They that were with him in the ark and the waters prevailed upon the earth 150 days
Now turn to first Peter 3 20 If you will, please
Dennis read that for us 3 20 first Peter All right, that's talking about the flood
And it puts us back with Noah Is there any significance to the fact?
That eight souls were saved Russell David What is the eighth day of the week joy
That's exactly what happened there So they ate souls indicated a new beginning in the human race
Do you have anything to suggest or any? questions All right
When the Lord shut that door He not only shut
Noah and his family in he shut everybody else out God shut them out.
It's a great thought Yes, God hasn't just recently become sovereign
The the
Jew The Jew Theologians say that Methuselah died 15 days before the flood
Yes Yes You believe that?
