The good news is, fortunately, I mean, we can go to, I mean, the Greek, I mean, we understand what the text is saying. So, I mean, for example, when we take a passage like John 1, and we say, Ein arche in halalgas, kai halalgas in proston peyon.

We know that still the teaching carries over into English that Jesus was in the beginning with the Father, He had no beginnings, He's eternal, and He created all things that have come into being. And nothing has come into being outside of Him, so that would include Lucifer.

Mormonism’s Teaching of Spirit Brothers and a Different Jesus

So again, that collision there between those two perspectives, Joseph saying that they're spirit brothers, you know, begotten by Elohim, and one of His goddess wives in the pre-existence. And then the biblical teaching that Jesus actually created Satan.

So our concern, our loving concern for you guys is that this church teaches a different Jesus than the one of Scripture. And you would agree with me, John 14, 6 says, Jesus says, I'm the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me.

So if you have a different Jesus other than the one in Scripture, like Paul says in 2 Corinthians 11, he warns the church in the first century, I'm concerned about you guys, that you guys are being led away to follow a different Christ.

My concern is the same as the apostle Paul's, I'm concerned for you guys, because I love you guys. But this church is teaching a different Jesus, and ultimately a different gospel. And if you have that, then ultimately, you're not, you don't know Jesus.

So would you, would you, I mean, I, again, what was it, Jordan, right?

Yeah.

Again, I'd love to continue talking with you guys. I would encourage you to look at John chapter 1, verse 1. Look at that Scripture. Also, Isaiah 43, 10, I know, according to Mormon theology, there are many gods before God, and you can become one one day.

Is that what you guys believe?

Correct.

You can become a God? Well, I would encourage you, with love, you know, when you're at home tonight, look up that passage, Isaiah 43, 10, it says, Before me, no God was formed, neither shall there be an after me.

So again, that presents another collision. You know, God says there weren't any gods before him, and you won't become one one day.

You're very well scripted.

So no, I, again, I don't want you to, oh, yeah, I don't get bad vibes from you guys.

At all. Sounds like you guys are very well grounded, and you're very composed, which I respect.

I appreciate that. We appreciate that. And the reason for this is to show, I mean, very honestly, we love your community. It's not you guys, it's Joseph's revelation, it's Joseph's teaching, it's the teaching of the church that we're comparing to Scripture and saying, do these two things line up?

And I've given you a couple of verses already, and I think, I mean, you'd admit that there isn't a response really at this point.

Yeah, I know, and you're shaking my faith a little bit.

That's good. That's really good.

Well, I would say that is good, if anyone would.

A Conversation That Leaves No Rebuttal

So, I'm going to talk about that for one second. That was, I think, I just came in on the tail end there, a great example. Was he a returned missionary? Did you ask him?

I didn't. No, I didn't get a chance to ask him. He was born and raised LDS, but he hasn't been out here to this for years, so. He said he lives nearby.

Okay.

And he's just down here visiting.

So, that's, I think, a premier example of the kind of conversation that can happen out here where Zach just got an opportunity to just give him scripture, I mean, on a whole host of things, and they listened, you know.

I mean, obviously, he was laughing as he walked away, sort of trying to be playful, but the truth is, is the Word of God just got proclaimed to that man. He was given scripture, the Mormon God was compared to the true God, and he walked away hearing scripture, and you'll notice there's no response.

The first thing he said was, I don't have a rebuttal to that.

So the reason why I wanted to stop for just a second and highlight that is that you guys got to witness what is kind of the common Mormon apologetic, which is really nothing. I have no response. It's not as though you have to be concerned that, you know, you have to be some sort of Bible scholar and know everything about everything, and, you know, what will they say back?

What if I don't have the answer? You saw what just took place. You saw what happened last night. Sometimes there's an attempt to argue back, but it's not a coherent argument back, and it's not something that actually answers the text itself.

Sometimes you just need to be here to preach the gospel. You got to be in front of their community, and you got to give them the Word of God. Sometimes they haven't spent time in scripture. They haven't investigated these things.

As a matter of fact, they're challenged not to read anti-Mormon literature, not to engage what the opposing side would say. So when you come out to events like this, or when you engage your Mormon neighbors and friends and family, sometimes you are that tool of God that actually is the instrument by which they actually get the scriptures, maybe even sometimes for the first time.

And so there's not, I think, the reason I'm bringing it up is because there's not a lot to be afraid of. First of all, God says he hasn't given us a spirit of fear, period. But there's not a lot to be afraid of, truly, practically.

A lot of times it's people like this that it's the first time they're even hearing some of this stuff from the Word of God, and we just need to be present.

And you can tell Romans 1, the revelation of God gets through. Now, if you're speaking to an atheist, if you're speaking to a Mormon, the scriptures testify to the truth, and you can see that he took it in.

Yeah.

I mean, we walk from the same parking lot. I walked parallel with them all the way here, turned around, passed them a tract, and we got into a conversation.

People told me for years that you shouldn't do this kind of ministry because it was too abrasive, too in-your-face, and not the way we reach people. And I kept having moments like this, where I would get to give them the Word of God, and they would even think about it, and sometimes start crying, or they would leave, give me their number so we can meet up for dinner later or something.

And I knew, no, I know that this is consistent with scripture, and I know that God is doing something here. So I'm going to encourage you along the same way. I don't know what God has called you to do, but whatever it is, do it.
