Hello! Welcome back to Daily Bites God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It is a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119 verse 37. It says, "'Cause my eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness and revive me in your ways.'"
This is one of the most important things that we can do as Christians and as those that are children of light.
We have this series here starting in verse 34 which runs through verse 39 where it says, "'Cause me, cause my heart, cause my eyes.'"
And you see all the facets of human life and the Christian life involved here. Verse 34, it says, "'Cause me to understand.'"
And then from the understanding in verse 35, it says, "'Cause me to walk, live it out, actually do it.'"
Verse 36, "'Cause my heart.'" I want it to be coming from the God -centered place. I want to be coming from the place of my heart.
And then verse 37, it says, "'Cause my eyes to turn away.'" Because one of the ways we can go wrong and start going to sin is what we see, what we take in through our eyes, but also what we hear and all those things can be great temptations for sin.
And so, "'Cause my eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness.'" There's so much worthlessness in our lives and on our screens.
And you think about screens like this and all these things. There's so many things that are really good.
And sometimes I think we say, oh, well, you know, there's bad TV. You should just watch it.
I'm like, no, no, no. There's a lot of good stuff on TV. There's a lot of good stuff on the internet. There's a whole lot of good stuff out there.
But there is a whole lot of worthlessness too. And we need to be able to discern what is the good and what is the worthless, and then turn our eyes.
And notice he's saying he wants the Lord to cause my eyes to do these things and then be revived in your ways.
Not focusing on the worthlessness, not focusing on sin, focusing on God, being
God -centered, having our eyes and everything focused on the things of God, the ways of God, being revived and having great life in our actions and everything that we do.
So I encourage you to make a list of those things that you think maybe might be something worthless that you partake of and look at and maybe pray about it and consider whether or not
God would have you to minimize or maybe even eliminate the time that you look at it and then focus that time and that energy and what you're seeing on the
Word of God and on God Himself and how you could be a better child of light in this world. Amen.
