00:07
Judges 15. Now it happened that after a while, in the time of a wheat harvest,
00:13
Samson visited his wife with a young goat, and said, I will go into my wife in her room.
00:19
But her father did not let him in her. And her father said, I really thought that you hated her intensely, so I gave her to your companion.
00:27
Is not her younger sister better than she? Please, let her be yours instead. Samson then said to them,
00:34
This time I shall be innocent in regard to the Philistines when I do them harm. So Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put one torch in the middle between two tails.
00:49
Then he set fire to the torches and sent the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines. So he caused both the shocks and the standing grain, along with the vineyards and groves, to burn.
01:00
Then the Philistines said, Who did this? And they said, Samson, the son -in -law of the
01:05
Temnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. So the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.
01:14
Then Samson said to them, If you act like this, then I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will cease.
01:21
And he struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter, and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Edom.
01:28
Then the Philistines went up and camped in Judah and spread out in Lehi. So the men of Judah said,
01:34
Why have you come up against us? And they said, We have come up to bind Samson, in order to do to him as he did to us.
01:42
Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Edom, and said to Samson, Do you not know that the
01:48
Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us? And he said to them,
01:54
As they did to me, so I have done to them. And they said to him, We have come down to bind you, so that we may give you into the hand of the
02:02
Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that you yourselves will not kill me.
02:08
So they said to him, No, but we will bind you fast and give you into their hands, yet surely we will not put you to death.
02:16
Then they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock. When he came to Lehi, the
02:21
Philistines shouted as they met him. And the spirit of Yahweh came upon him mightily, so that the ropes that were on his arms were as flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds dropped from his hands.
02:33
And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey. So he sent forth his hand and took it and struck down one thousand men with it.
02:41
Then Samson said, With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey
02:47
I have struck down one thousand men. Now it happened that when he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone from his hand, and he named that place
02:55
Ramoth -Lehi. Then he became very thirsty, and he called to Yahweh and said,
03:01
You have given this great salvation by the hand of your slave, but now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?
03:09
So God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. Then he drank, and his spirit returned, and he revived.
03:17
Therefore he named it En -Hakor, which is in Lehi to this day. And he judged
03:23
Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines. Acts 19
03:31
Now it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper regions and came to Ephesus and found some disciples.
03:39
And he said to them, Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? And they said to him, No, we have not even heard if the
03:46
Holy Spirit is being received. And he said, Into what then were you baptized? And they said,
03:53
Into John's baptism. Then Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.
04:04
And when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the
04:10
Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. Now there were in all about twelve men.
04:18
And after he entered the synagogue, he continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God.
04:27
But when some were being hardened and were not believing, speaking evil of the way before the multitude, he left them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
04:38
This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both
04:44
Jews and Greeks. And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that cloths or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them, and the evil spirits went out.
04:58
But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the
05:06
Lord Jesus, saying, I implore you by Jesus, whom Paul preaches. Now seven sons of one named
05:13
Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. And the evil spirit answered and said to them,
05:19
I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you? And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them, subdued all of them, and utterly prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
05:34
And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the
05:41
Lord Jesus was being magnified. Also many of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices.
05:50
And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and were burning them in the sight of everyone.
05:56
And they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the
06:02
Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. Now after these things were finished, Paul purposed in the spirit to go to Jerusalem after he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, saying,
06:13
After I have been there, I must also see Rome. And having sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him,
06:20
Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. Now about that time there occurred no small disturbance concerning the way.
06:29
For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, was bringing no little business to the craftsmen.
06:37
These he gathered together with the workers of similar trades, and said, Men, you know that our prosperity is from this business.
06:45
And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable crowd, saying that things made with hands are not gods.
06:57
And not only is there danger that this trade of ours fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess
07:04
Artemis be considered as worthless, and that she, whom all of Asia and the world worship, is even about to be brought down from her majesty.
07:13
When they heard this and were filled with rage, they began crying out, saying, Great is
07:18
Artemis of the Ephesians. And the city was filled with the confusion. And they rushed with one accord into the theatre, dragging along Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul's traveling companions from Macedonia.
07:31
And when Paul wanted to go into the assembly, the disciples would not let him. Also some of the
07:38
Asiarchs, who were friends of his, sent to him and repeatedly urged him not to venture into the theatre.
07:44
So then some were shouting one thing and some another, for the meeting was in confusion, and the majority did not know for what reason they had come together.
07:53
And some of the crowd concluded it was Alexander, since the Jews had put him forward, and having motioned with his hand,
08:00
Alexander was intending to make a defense to the assembly. But when they recognized that he was a
08:06
Jew, a single cry arose from them all, as they shouted for about two hours, Great is
08:12
Artemis of the Ephesians. Now after calming the crowd, the city clerk said, Men of Ephesus, what man is there, after all, who does not know that the city of the
08:22
Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis, and of the image which fell down from heaven?
08:28
So, since these are undeniable facts, you ought to keep calm, and to do nothing rash.
08:34
For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples, nor blasphemers of our goddess.
08:40
So then, if Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with them have a complaint against any one, the courts are in session, and proconsuls are available.
08:49
Let them bring charges against one another. But if you want anything beyond this, it shall be settled in the lawful meeting.
08:56
For indeed, we are in danger of being accused of a riot in connection with today's events, since there is no cause for which we can give as an account for this disorderly gathering.
09:07
After saying this, he dismissed the meeting. Jeremiah 28
09:16
Now it happened in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was from Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Yahweh, in the sight of the priest and all the people, saying,
09:32
Thus says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
09:38
Within two years I am going to return to this place all the vessels of the house of Yahweh, which
09:44
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. I am also going to return to this place
09:52
Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon, declares
09:58
Yahweh, for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. Then the prophet
10:03
Jeremiah spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the sight of the priest and in the sight of all the people who were standing in the house of Yahweh.
10:11
And the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen, may Yahweh do so. May Yahweh establish your words, which you have prophesied, to return the vessels of the house of Yahweh and all the exiles from Babylon to this place.
10:24
Yet hear now this word, which I am about to speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people.
10:31
The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms of war and of calamity and of pestilence.
10:42
The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom
10:49
Yahweh has truly sent. Then Hananiah the prophet took the bar of the yoke from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke it.
10:57
And Hananiah spoke in the sight of all the people saying, Thus says Yahweh, Even so will
11:03
I break within two full years the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, from the neck of all the nations.
11:10
Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way. Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah after Hananiah the prophet had broken the bar of the yoke from off the neck of the prophet
11:19
Jeremiah saying, Go and speak to Hananiah saying, Thus says Yahweh, You have broken the bars of a yoke made of wood, but you have made in their place the bars of a yoke made of iron.
11:32
For thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve
11:40
Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and they will serve him. And I have even given him the beast of the field.
11:47
Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet, Listen now, Hananiah, Yahweh has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie.
11:57
Therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I am about to remove you from the face of the earth.
12:03
This year you are going to die because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh. So Hananiah the prophet died in the same year in the seventh month.
12:16
Mark 14 Now the Passover and unleavened bread were two days away, and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking help after seizing him in secret they might kill him.
12:27
For they were saying, Not during the festival, lest there be a riot of the people. And while he was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster jar of perfume, a very costly pure nard, and she broke the jar and poured it over his head.
12:46
But some were indignantly remarking to one another, Why has this perfume been wasted? For this perfume might have been sold for over 300 denarii and given to the poor, and they were scolding her.
12:58
But Jesus said, Let her alone. Why do you bother her? She did a good work to me.
13:03
For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them, but you do not always have me.
13:10
She has done what she could. She anointed my body beforehand for the burial. And truly
13:16
I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be spoken of in memory of her.
13:24
Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests in order to betray him to them.
13:31
And when they heard this, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he began seeking how to betray him at an opportune time.
13:39
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, his disciples said to him,
13:46
Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover? And he sent two of his disciples and said to them,
13:52
Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him.
13:58
And wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, The teacher says, Where is my guest room in which
14:04
I may eat the Passover with my disciples? And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready.
14:11
Prepare for us there. And the disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the
14:18
Passover. And when it was evening, he came with the twelve. And as they were reclining at the table and eating,
14:25
Jesus said, Truly I say to you that one of you will betray me, the one who is eating with me.
14:31
They began to be grieved and to say to him one by one, Surely not I. And he said to them,
14:38
It is one of the twelve, the one who dips with me in the bowl. For the son of man is to go just as it is written of him.
14:45
But woe to that man by whom the son of man is betrayed, it would have been good for that man if he had not been born.
14:52
And while they were eating, he took some bread, and after a blessing he broke it and gave it to them, and said,
14:59
Take it, this is my body. And when he had taken a cup and given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
15:06
And he said to them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly I say to you,
15:13
I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
15:19
And after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. And Jesus said to them, You will all fall away, because it is written,
15:27
I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. But after I have been raised,
15:32
I will go ahead of you to Galilee. But Peter said to him, Even though all may fall away, yet I will not.
15:40
And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that today, this very night, before a rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny me three times.
15:50
But Peter kept saying insistently, If I have to die with you, I will not deny you.
15:55
And they were all saying the same thing also. Then they came to a place named Gethsemane.
16:00
And he said to his disciples, Sit here until I have prayed. And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.
16:10
And he said to them, My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and keep watch.
16:17
And he went a little beyond them and fell to the ground and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
16:24
And he was saying, Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me, yet not what
16:31
I will, but what you will. And he came and found them sleeping and said to Peter, Simon, are you sleeping?
16:38
Could you not keep watch for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation.
16:44
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.
16:51
And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they did not know what to answer him.
16:58
And he came the third time and said to them, Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough.
17:03
The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
17:09
Get up, let us go. Behold, the one who betrays me is at hand. And immediately while he was still speaking,
17:17
Judas, one of the twelve, came up, and with him was a crowd with swords and clubs, who were from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
17:26
Now he who was betraying him had given them a signal, saying, Whomever I kiss, he is the one.
17:32
Seize him and lead him away under guard. And after coming, Judas, having immediately gone to him, said,
17:39
Rabbi, and kissed him. And they laid hands on him and seized him. But one of those who stood by drew a sword and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.
17:49
And Jesus answered and said to them, Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me as you would against a robber?
17:56
Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But this has taken place in order that the scriptures would be fulfilled.
18:05
And they all left him and fled. And a young man was following him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body, and they seized him.
18:13
But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked. Then they led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes gathered together.
18:24
And Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest, and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself at the fire.
18:32
Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking to obtain testimony against Jesus to put him to death, and they were not finding any.
18:40
For many were giving false testimony against him, but their testimony was not consistent. And some standing up were giving false testimony against him, saying,
18:50
We ourselves heard him say, I will destroy this sanctuary made with hands, and in three days
18:57
I will build another made without hands. And not even in this way was their testimony consistent.
19:03
And the high priest stood up in their midst and questioned Jesus, saying, You answer nothing?
19:08
What are these men testifying against you? But he kept silent and did not answer. Again the high priest was questioning him and said to him,
19:17
Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One? And Jesus said, I am. And you shall see the
19:23
Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. And tearing his tunics, the high priest said,
19:31
What further need do we have of witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy. How does it seem to you?
19:38
And they all condemned him to be deserving of death. And some began to spit at him, and to blindfold him, and to beat him with their fists, and to say to him,
19:47
Prophesy. And the officers received him with slaps in the face. And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.
19:57
And seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, You also are with the
20:02
Nazarene, Jesus. But he denied it, saying, I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.
20:10
And he went out into the entryway. And when the servant girl saw him, she began once more to say to the bystanders,
20:17
This is one of them. But again he was denying it. And after a little while, the bystanders were again saying to Peter, Surely you are one of them, for you are also a
20:27
Galilean. But he began to curse and swear, I do not know this man you are talking about.
20:33
And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said the statement to him,
20:40
Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times. And throwing himself down, he began to cry.
