The Forgotten Trinity - God Centered Recommendations

Hello there, and welcome back to God -Centered Theology. This is Andy Cain, and I have another God -Centered recommendation for you today.

Today we are looking at The Forgotten Trinity, The Forgotten Trinity by Dr. James R.

White. This is an excellent, excellent book on the subject, Recovering the

Heart of Christian Beliefs, The Forgotten Trinity, and Discover a

Fresh Living Truth of a Foundational Christian Belief. The Trinity is a basic teaching of the Christian faith.

It defines God's essence and describes how He relates to us. The Forgotten Trinity is a concise, understandable explanation of what the

Trinity is and why it matters. It refutes cultic distortions of God. It shows how a grasp of the significant teaching leads to renewed worship and deeper understanding of what it means to be a

Christian. And amid today's emphasis on the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, The Forgotten Trinity is a balanced look at all three persons of the

Trinity. Of course, Dr. White is the Director of Alpha Omega Ministries, and I actually met him back in the before time, before Rona, at a conference on the

Trinity. And I had him, this is one of the books, actually got him signed for me.

And so he signed this one for me, and this is one of the best books on this subject because so many people have a hard time with the

Trinity because they want to try to filter it and understand it through a finite mind. And it's not going to make rational sense from a man -centered point of view.

The Trinity, all doctrine, all theology should be God -centered. But the Trinity, more than any other doctrine, has to be

God -centered. In fact, the Trinity is probably the best doctrine to use as a way to teach someone how to be

God -centered because the only way you can actually understand the Trinity is to start with God and then reason down to man.

If you start with man and our understanding and our philosophy and the way we rationalize things and then go up to God, you'll always end up with a

God after your own creation, after an idol. So everything from understanding being in person, understanding that God is one eternal being, demonstrating

Himself to exist in three distinct persons. He talks in here about how, you know, if you want to know if you have being, take a rock, throw it at your head.

It's going to hurt because you have being. It means you exist. And personhood, personality, who you are, and everything is wrapped up in that.

So excellent, excellent. I highly recommend this. You know, it could be a textbook for a class.

It could be used in your Sunday school class to teach the Trinity. I think we really need to get beyond some of the generic surface level,

I just want to make you feel better. What does this mean to you? Kind of nonsense we get in Sunday school and really get an understanding of the

Word of God, particularly around who God is. Because this book and this doctrine hits the core, like he said, of understanding who

God is, how He has revealed Himself to exist, and how we can be rightly related to Him.
