Isaiah 45 verse 22 says look unto me and be ye saved all the ends of the earth for I am God and there is none else. Look unto me and be you saved all the ends of the earth for I am God and there is none else.
Let's turn over to the book of Acts please, Acts chapter 4. Acts chapter 4 and of course in chapter 3 we read of a man who was lame, who was paralyzed, who was healed not by Peter or John but by the Lord Jesus exalted in heaven.
So these two men are confronted as to how it is possible that this man who they knew who was carried every day to the temple to beg was whole. So let's just read in chapter 4 and we'll begin reading at verse 8.
Then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost said unto them, ye rulers of the house, ye rulers of the people and elders of Israel if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man by what means he is made whole be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom ye crucified whom God raised from the dead even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which the which was set at naught of you builders which has become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name unto heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
It's quite a thing in this world how men would take such pride in being the very best. Now I'm not into sports I don't know who the men would be but who could be called the very best soccer player today or who could be called the very best chess player today or who could be called the very best boxer.
As the world thinks of Muhammad Ali who is now in eternity in his own words he said I am the greatest. In other words there might have been many other boxers but he was the greatest of all that no one else could compare with him.
As you know when we come to the Bible we find out it's not just that God is the best God or that the Lord Jesus is the best Savior. We come to the Bible and we find out that God is the only God and that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only Savior.
Now there are many people in this world and what they enjoy is debating these things. They like to compare religions and people would like to boast in their religion and try and say it is the best of all the religions.
You know when we come to the Word of God we soon find out it is not religion that saves the sinner and it's not just that a person is going to search out the best and stick with it. What everyone in this room needs to understand this evening is this if they are not trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior they will never be saved.
If you are not trusting him as your Savior this evening you cannot be saved. That's what we find when we come to the Word of God the singularity of God as the only Savior. Not just the best God or the best of saviors but the only God and the only Savior of sinners the Lord Jesus.
You likely have noticed that these two passages are very similar that we have read both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. We think of the book of Isaiah and the context of course the nation of Israel.
We can appreciate that the nation of Israel at one time had known the mighty power of God we heard today redeemed with blood and power and yet sadly as time goes on the nation of Israel would turn their back against this God.
And yet his plea is this not only to be their physical Savior but to be their spiritual Savior. And sadly as you look into the context of Isaiah and the other prophecies we've already heard about the nation of Israel would turn to anyone would turn anywhere except to God in a time of need.
God was actually proving them in his iris to display himself as Savior. What you'll find is that as they would wander away from God and God would allow the enemies to come against them instead of turning to him how often do we not find that they turn to man.
And the kings would make alliances with other kings because the enemies were drawing close. And the nation would confide in the money that was being paid so that they might be delivered from danger. The sad reality is this they would even turn to idols to seek for deliverance from their enemies.
In all the time here is God in his desire assists in a physical sense and also in a spiritual sense to be their Savior. But their sinfulness and the hardness of their hearts and their unbelief as it were they were willing to do anything else but turn to him.
And God would prove to them that men cannot deliver as they're taken captive. And God would show to them that their money cannot save them. And God would show to them that their idols were useless. They were worthless.
Even in the book of Isaiah we read people would confide in in the lying words of the prophets. They would have some consolation because of the words of sinful men, of lying men. And those that we read about who had even made a pact with death, they turn everywhere but to God.
Instead of believing the truth, they believe the lie. How sad it is when we read those words as God would plead with his people, look unto me and be ye saved. All the ends of the earth for I am God and there is none else.
And there was no one else that could deliver physically his people, much less deliver his people spiritually. And that's how the book of Isaiah begins. God dealing with their sin and offering the forgiveness of their sin if they would recognize the awfulness of it.
He is the one who said come now and let us reason together. Your sin is a problem but you can be made clean. He is the one that offered the forgiveness. He is the one that offered salvation. And yet sadly the nation of Israel would not trust him for a salvation.
We come to the book of Acts and times have changed but the heart of the nation hasn't. Because it is the Lord Jesus who has come into the sea, God's Son. You remember how it was announced at his birth of the angels?
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord. As it was told Mary, he shall save his people from their sins. Yet as the Lord Jesus Christ comes into the sea we find he is not recognized as the Son of God and he is not received as the Savior.
Sadly the Bible would tell us the sinful hearts of men and women that he came unto his own and his own received him not. You only have to read to the Gospels to find how men so hated him. It was Isaiah that wrote those words, he is despised and rejected of men.
You would have thought that men and women would have rejoiced to know that there is a Savior for sinners. Here he is coming into the scene to save us from the awful consequences of sin. And yet what you find is this, is every slander under the sun is brought against God's blessed Son.
They said that he was born out of immorality. They said that the works that he did was through the power of Satan. Anything but recognize him for who he was as God's beloved Son. And as we read here Peter he stands before this nation that had cried away with him, away with him.
Peter begins to preach to them, not because of their power or wisdom or holiness, but because of the Lord Jesus Christ whom you rejected. This man is here whole before you. And again he goes over this, that the one whom you crucified, Jesus of Nazareth, he is the one whom God has raised from the dead.
He is actually the stone which the builders set it not. He is a stone that was rejected, that the nation had no place for. And they despised him and they crucified him outside of the city of Jerusalem.
Yet the words of Peter are these, this one who you rejected has become the head of the corner. In other words, the most important. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
So again we find that if a person rejects the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, there is no salvation. You see, really there's no time to debate religion and philosophy. What men and women need to understand is their need of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
That's what men and women here this evening need to understand. That's what boys and girls need to come to understand, their need of Him and Him alone. Yet sadly men and women today, just as a nation of Israel, they will turn to anyone and anything but Him.
How sad it is, because the Word of God makes it so plain that salvation cannot be found in anyone else. That would exclude every religion of man here on earth. And I have heard people say, my religion, it's the only religion, it's the best religion, because it's the oldest religion, and so on.
And people would debate religion and their beliefs and their thoughts, and all the time rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work. There are people today, I've heard people boasting about, you know, if there's any hope of being heaven, it's because of all the money that I've given.
Sitting in a restaurant, there was a man that actually knew, he was our gym teacher at one time. He could speak and everybody in the restaurant I think could hear, and he was boasting about all the thousands of dollars that he had given away.
If anybody had a chance for heaven, it was him. And sadly there are people, and that is what they are confiding in, in their money. And yet the Word of God says salvation is found in a person. There are people who are trusting in their ritualism, some people in baptism, in so many things that people present.
As you know, salvation is not found in any ordinance or any rite or ritual that we would observe. We read that salvation is found in the person of the Lord Jesus. You know, there are other people, and really their hope is in them, their own selves.
They look around at people and they say, you know, I'm not as bad as these other people. In other words, what they're saying is, they might need a Savior, but I don't. Because of who I am, because of the things that I do.
Really they're looking at themselves, and they think because of who I am and what I do, I am going to be in God's heaven someday. As you know, no one will ever be saved trusting in themselves. What people need to come to is this, an abandonment of everything else, and a recognition that if I am going to be saved, it is through the Lord Jesus Christ and nothing else and no one else.
And yet sadly, people, so difficult it is for them to come to that place in their lives. This stone which the builders rejected for these people, they were going to have to recognize that we were wrong concerning Him.
That what we did was a mistake. That He is actually who He said He was, who He claimed to be. That we were wrong, that He is the Savior. Of course, you'll understand that would be no small thing for these people, because of the pride in their own heart, but likely as well the fear of their own countrymen, should they turn their back against their people and against their religion, and to take sides with the Lord Jesus Christ and confess Him as only Savior.
As you know, when a person comes to discover without him I'm lost. That I am helpless. That there is absolutely nothing I can do, and there's no one else that I can turn to. That is when a person is going to appreciate the work and the worth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Something I've been enjoying recently is this, reading, studying a little bit the life of Joseph, and we've already heard of Joseph today. You know, it's a very fitting illustration of the Lord Jesus.
I think we understand that most of us hear that Joseph as well was despised of his own brothers, and they actually thought about killing him until they decided they could profit by selling him. And Joseph is sold down into Egypt, and likely you know that he was also falsely accused and cast into prison there.
But through the dreams of the baker, the butler, the butler actually, and then Pharaoh, God reveals to Joseph what is going to transpire in the seven years of abundant harvest, followed by the seven years of dearth or extreme famine.
And Joseph is exalted, and as we've already heard today, he was given the name the Savior of the world. But likely you also remember there was a time when those very same men, his own brothers who sold him, would come because of hunger.
Because if they didn't find food, they were going to perish. That they had to come and they had to bow down before the one that they had despised and rejected. And of course we understand in the second trip Joseph reveals himself, I am Joseph, the one whom you sold.
They would have had to understand we rejected the Savior of the world, but now he is the one that is going to give us life. You know it wasn't until they found their self in great need that they would go to the man that had all the provision.
And I think that's what men and women need to come to understand in their lives. Their need of him. Without him I perish. They discover their great need. They're no longer going to reject the Lord Jesus Christ.
My message is very simple this evening. We could go through the Bible and there are as many examples of this. Men and women who discover it is God who is going to heal me or save me. We don't have time this evening, but you take a man like Naaman, and Naaman had to discover it wasn't through fame that I am going to be cleansed of my leper.
It isn't going to be through the king of Assyria and it isn't going to be through the king of Israel. It isn't going to be through my money. It's going to be by believing God. Or you take the Pharisee and the publican of Luke chapter 18.
There's a man who trusted in himself and his own religiousness. But there's another man, the publican. And this is what he says, God be merciful to me, the sinner. That if he was ever going to know the forgiveness of sins, he was going to have to look to God.
And that's what we would tell you this evening. The words of Isaiah, the words of God, look unto me, turn away from everything else and everyone else and even your own doing. Look unto me and be saved.
All the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else. And the words of Acts, though he was rejected, this one is the only one who can save. In this Jesus, neither is there salvation in any other.
Until you discover that you cannot save yourself, until you discover that none of your doing can save you, until you discover that your money cannot save you. You're not going to appreciate that it isn't him.
Neither is our salvation in any other, for there is none other name unto heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. We are going to be saved. It must be by him. Trust you'll consider these words from the word of God this evening.
Don't look to yourself and don't look to anyone else, but the one who went to the cross to bear away sin in his own body on the tree, the one who not only died, the one who was raised again the third day and is exalted in heaven and he is alive, and he and he alone is able to save.
