Double Ascent of King Kong

Phoenix is called the Valley of the Sun for an obvious reason...it's a valley. But, there are some exceptions to the "flat" rule. One is N. 16th Street/Sweetwater. We call it "King Kong" because I haven't yet found a paved climb that is any steeper than this is. I've seen my Garmin hit 18% on this climb on both sides, but generally it is a steady 16/17% depending on the day. Here I did the southbound ascent first, did the eastbound descent, then turned around and climbed up the west side. It will definitely give you an idea of your max heart rate if you want it to!
