Thanksgiving, Gratitude, and Riches in Christ

Did you eat too much? I know I did. Many of us, after a day of Thanksgiving here in America, we have stuffed ourselves with so much food, and we end up just wanting to sit around and enjoy time with family.

And yet, we have so much we really should be thankful for. And a day when we often think about how much we ate the night before, do we think about the fact that we do have so much food? Do we think about the fact that we have so many resources?

Material Wealth as a Measure of Richness

I remember when a pastor had been down in Africa, and ministering amongst some folks there, and the thing that they were amazed at, they called the Americans rich. What made us rich? Was it our cars? No.

Was it our homes? No. Was it the money? No. Was it the fancy clothes? No. What they said made Americans rich, was that we can eat three meals a day, and we can have a different thing to eat every day for a month, and not repeat the same food.

They called that rich. On a day that we've regretted maybe stuffing our face, and eating way too much, should we think about the fact that all that food is an example of our riches? The way that God has provided for this country.

Oh, many of us struggle financially, and yet, around the world, many would call us rich. But the question is, are you rich in Christ?
