In the relevance of His acceptance, this would become complete. But we need to think that our attainments measure up to our obligations. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, make us humble. Make us also persevering and confident.

Christ as the Supreme Pattern of Sanctification

No, you're there. I left off on the topic of sanctification. I just said that it's always ideal that the supreme revelation of what God is and of His will for us, the supreme exhibition of the pattern which is the example of sanctification, is the Lord Jesus Himself.

And then I copied those texts, I believe, if there's this fact, and said that in no other way could God's holiness, as relevant to our responsibility, be so effectively revealed. Now this is why, in the concrete and practical, the example of our Lord has incomparable significance.

Christ's Call to Servanthood and Sacrificial Ministry

Striking words of our Lord in this connection isn't pushed. In Matthew 27 and 28 and Mark 10, 44 and 45,. Whosoever would be first among you, let him be servant of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be minister unto but be ministered, and to give his life a ransom for many.

And of course the apostles could enjoin to the same effect,. For here unto where ye called for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps. Peter 2 .21 and all of course 2 .25,. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

This through Christ's example of our Lord himself, and on the part of the apostles, is a very important lesson to mention, to be derived from this appeal to our Lord's example. All lessons. The example of the exuberance of suffering in liberality, not of this asian, example of our Lord is pleaded, Appeal to the example of the passion with our Lord.

He appeals to his own example. Appeals to his obligation. The most striking feature. The climactic events of Jesus' messianic accomplishment. Mission and commitment. And regulated. Our life is to be governed and regulated.

The gospels and truths are brought to bear. Most menial of our obligations. Utterly distorted. The differentiation we found already in respect of likeness to God. Which is necessary in respect of likeness to God.

In these, the supreme and incomparable actions. Supreme and incomparable actions are appealed to. Actions which we are represented as before. Passages of the gospels. The fact that he gave his life a ransom.

He gave his life a ransom as the supreme example of ministry to others. Of service to others. He gave us an example that we should follow his steps. He doesn't allow us to think. We participate. My will unto righteousness.

By whose stripes. Me and you which was also in Christ Jesus. Come to appeal to the success. Humiliation. Steps of our Lord's self. Probably to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation. Taking the form of us.

Christ's Humiliation and the Uniqueness of His Mission

Ending of these. Involves. Uniqueness of his accomplishment. Uniqueness of his passion. Uniqueness of his conviction. Mission and task. Ultimate. Predestination. Is conformity. To which is the final end.

There is no incompatibility. Between likeness. One through three. The consummation. Process. God's glory. Believers then. God's glory. Infinite realm. It will be the perfect reflection of God's glory.

Infinite realm. It will be the perfect reflection of God's glory. God will then be fully. To the image of the son. Is with the glory of the father. And himself. Is glorified. Believers are also. With that same.

There must be the conformity. Is conformity. By which the first. To his image. We must ask the question. How does. Christ in his death and resurrection. Union with Christ. Could be more significant. In this connection.

Union with Christ in Death and Resurrection

Nothing could be more significant in this connection. Than the apostles word. Romans six five. We have become grown together. In the likeness of his death. He shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Here. The term likeness. We are now concerned. For the inception. Of sanctification. Is in terms of conformity. The redemptive accomplishment. Son. Namely. In the redemptive accomplishment. The concept of likeness.

Of conformity. Conformity of course. The idea of conformity of likeness. And more. As its final issue. Destination. Predestination. And. Consent. Understanding and appropriation. Identification with Christ.

In his death and resurrection. From the increasing understanding and appropriation. Of the fact. We die. Again. In his resurrection. Nothing is more. Sanctification. Than the reckoning. The reckoning.

Of this. Upon it. Of God. In Christ. The occupation. In the nation. Of resurrection. To life. And reach forth. The high calling of God. In the way by which this. Progressive. And that upon which we have just now reflected.

Namely union with Christ. In his death and resurrection. I come back again. Second Corinthians 3 .18. Because there Paul speaks of being. Transformed. Triggered. To the image of Christ. To glory. The way in which this.

Transformation by Beholding Christ's Glory

Takes place. In a class. That God. Reflects. And sees at work here. Ability. To diagnose. By which. This. Agency. The means by which this work of grace is. Walked. In this passage. The means. Clearly indicated in this passage.

When coordinated. With others. The glory of Christ. Is portrayed for us. Pages of scripture. And outside of that. Of his glory. Shines upon our path. Or into our hearts. The Holy Spirit illuminates. In our hearts.

To behold his glory. That is his priority. It is even indicated. In this passage. In the context. And even in the final word. Of this passage. And consequently. The unveiling. Of the glory of Christ. By the illumination of the Holy Spirit.

In enough. Answers of adoration. And communion. Tells our mind. And it's our heart. Appropriate to each aspect. Of our personality. Each demand. Arising for us. For us. We are transformed. Displaced. By conformity.

To him. In love. And. The effulgence of the Father's glory. And therefore he could say himself. He that hath seen me. Hath seen the Father. Then it is the prerogative. Of the Holy Spirit. To glorify Christ.

That is his most characteristic work. In the continuing economy of salvation. When he is our revelation. Which we possess. Namely that of scripture. On the character. In that remains. The goal of sanctification.

And to deal with that. In depth. From what we said already. Expecting a pattern. Only there are new features. That will have to be dealt with. Have a good vacation. I hope you will be preserved. In your various journeys.
