Hello, welcome back to David Bytes of God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 33.
It says, INSTRUCT ME, O YAHWEH, IN THE WAY OF YOUR STATUTES, THAT I MAY OBSERVE IT TO THE END.
We should desire as God's people to be instructed from by the
Lord, and we find our instruction and our teaching from God primarily in the
Word of God, which is very important for us to have, but it's also very important to have good elders and teachers, not just elders who obviously teach, but also non -elders who have the gift of teaching to be able to teach the
Word of God and instruct us in the Word of God so we can know what it says and know how it should be applied to our lives.
And he says, I want to be instructed by you, O Lord, in the way of what you have decreed, what your statutes are, what you have prescribed for me, that I, the
Christian, may observe, keep them, guard them, look after them, obey them, know what they are, and follow them to the end, meaning to the end of my life.
As long as I have breath in my body, as long as I have life and breath in my nostrils,
I'm going to be serving the Lord. It should be the desire of your heart. It should be the thing you wake up thinking about.
It should be the thing you think about throughout the day. It should be the thing you're thinking about as you're lying there going to sleep at night, wanting to be instructed in the
Word of God, knowing the statutes of God, and observing them all the days of your life to the end.
And when you think about it, there's no greater, probably no more beautiful thing than to have an older saint of God that has lived a long
Christian life, that has matured, that has grown, and they've been instructed their whole life.
They've matured and have been very righteous and holy, and then at the end, they give you those pearls of wisdom.
They say, well, you know, are you scared? Well, no. I'm going to be with the Lord. Well, do you have any regrets?
No. I served in the best I could all my life. I repented of my sin. I put faith and trust in Jesus Christ. I lived the absolute best life
I could to serve my Master. And there's so much wisdom and so much legacy in that.
So if you want to leave a legacy, be instructed in the Word of God. Observe and obey the
Word of God in your life, and do it consistently every day as long as you live.
