God's Sovereignty in the Salvation of Men — Jonathan Edwards

In this sermon, the preacher discusses the grace of God and how He condescends to become bound to us through a covenant. Despite being the supreme ruler and owner of everything, God willingly relinquishes His absolute freedom to be sovereign in His dealings with believers. Through faith in Christ, believers can challenge salvation as a debt owed to them by God, and it would be contrary to His justice and faithfulness to deny it. The preacher also explains that God's justice requires the punishment of sin, but He can still save any sinner while upholding His justice. Additionally, the preacher highlights how God exercises His sovereignty in the salvation of individuals, helping some overcome obstacles and temptations while others are left to backsliding or never fully awakened. This exercise of sovereignty is in line with God's design to manifest the glory of each of His attributes in the salvation of mankind.
