The Sufficiency of Divine Power and the Jealousy of God

Turn to 2nd Peter. The first chapter and the third verse, please Dennis read that. One three second Peter one three. Okay, read it again. Is that the King James? Well, I must have copied this out of something else.

Sears Roebuck catalog or something. No, it says that. According to his divine power. And joy that. That's it. He has granted to us All things that pertain unto life and godliness. What's that mean Dennis through the knowledge of him That called us by his glory and virtue.

He has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness to the present natural life. We have everything that we need. Now I asked a question last week. Why does God hate sin? You've had a week to think about it.

So Russell answer it. All right. John. Dennis. Greg. Those are all good answers. But he hates him because he's a jealous God. Now. Why is that Debbie? How does that help him hate sin? All right. He says you shall have no other gods before me.

He is jealous. Now we look at the word jealous as being on the border of Something that we would rather not be. But with God, it's absolute. He hates sin because he is jealous. Turn in Romans chapter 9 verse 28, please.

For he will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness. Because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. Or He will finish the work. All right. The first question is what work? Russell, all right, Greg.

Now when you say short, what do you mean? All right. Dennis, all right. John, all right. He will finish the work and cut it short. Why. Why did the Bible tell us that he will cut this work short? Debbie, all right, Joey.

Can you help any on that? All right. He's already judged them. So he's going to give them What their sins have bought? 29 and as Isaiah says before Except the Lord Of the Sabbath had left us a seed. We had been as Sodom and been like Gomorrah.

Now the Lord has left us a seed. What does he mean Debbie? All right. All right. Does God have a right to withdraw his mercies? From the people does it make any difference how exalted Or how privileged.

Does he have a right to leave them in ruin? What shall we say then? That The Gentiles Which followed not after righteousness and that means what Dennis? All right. Why didn't they? All right. Which followed not after righteousness?

Have attained to righteousness even the righteousness Which is of faith? Now Greg tell me how can the Gentile? Have righteousness when they didn't have the law. All right church members That think they're good enough to be saved cannot be taught of the word.

Now, let me say that again church members. Church members that think they're good enough to be saved cannot be taught of the word. Why Dennis they could not they cannot have righteousness until they're saved and they're not saved 31 but Israel Which followed after the law of righteousness?

Hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by works of law for they stumbled at the stumbling stone and. What is the stumbling stone Greg?

They stumbled at that seeking to attain righteousness. They followed the law of righteousness 33 as It is written behold. I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense. And whosoever Believeth on him shall not be ashamed in the church today.

What though it is? Though it is in truth the only sure foundation of happiness. What is that Dennis? All right. That foundation of happiness will be a stumbling stone and a rock of offense an occasion of ruin.

Too many though their obstinate through their obstinate unbelief in the church. Not many in this church if any. People that are not saved. This morning they're attending millions hundreds thousands of churches across this country.

Israel's Zeal Without Knowledge and the End of the Law for Righteousness

All right. Is there any questions on chapter 9? If not, we'll move to 10. I brethren my heart's desire and Prayer to God of it for Israel is that they might be saved. Paul Would not have prayed this had they not been reprobates the same with us.

We don't know about everybody else but among us. There are reprobates. Joy, what is a reprobate? Is that right bill? For I bear them record That they have a zeal of God but not according to knowledge now.

Comes this word zeal. Clarence. What does the word zeal? Mean, all right. They have a zeal of God. But not according to knowledge. Russell. That could get you in trouble. Couldn't it zeal without knowledge?

It's like a blind man looking for a black cat in a coal bin at midnight. He has lots of experience. But he doesn't accomplish anything zeal aimed in the wrong direction. Three for they being ignorant of God's righteousness and Going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

There's something in our churches today. Well, it's not in the churches today. And I don't hear much of it preached and that is. That we're taught that we are to submit our will to the Lord's will each and every day.

When we get up of a morning. Before we get up of a morning the modern Church of today Is a sad sight. Goes like this on Monday. They have a basketball Tuesday, they have football Wednesday volleyball Thursday baseball.

Friday, they just have a ball. Well, I'm here to tell you that scripture must be obeyed with the obedience of belief. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. Now Greg Christ is the end of the law.

How can Christ be the end of the law? All right, that's good. Dennis all right. In Philippians 1 29 We have this. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ Not only to believe on him But also to suffer for his sake.

And in the Philippians 2 13 for it is God Which worketh in you both to will and to do his good players your pleasure. Those two verses are enough if we would Study them if we would believe them and then practice them.

Let Them become a way of life. But Russell, here's a bigger question. Did Jesus keep the law for us? Since we could not keep the law Did he keep it for us? Russell that's it. Thank you. Thank you. He did not keep the law primarily.

The first order for us he kept it for the father. Because that's what the father Gave him to do and he could be my substitute if he hadn't kept it 10 -5 for Moses desirous. The unrighteous the righteousness which is of the law.

That the man which Death doeth those things Shall live by them. Now What do you say to people that keep the law and think they're saved? Greg I didn't get all of that. That's right. So if you're going to keep the law for salvation First it's impossible.

Second you better start offering sacrifices. Set up the order of priesthood because you cannot keep the law for salvation. If you claim the law as your salvation then You shall live and die by the law that the law is.

The fact that it exists Existed points to Christ As in Inclined to him is manifestly proved because it puts forward such a condition as To be and is fulfilled. And it cannot be fulfilled by anybody except Jesus Christ.

Which being imputed to us by faith? Our Conscience is quieted so that now no man can ask Who? Who is there that can ascend to heaven or? bring us from hell seeing that the gospel teaches that both of these are done by Jesus Christ and that for their sakes Who with true faith? embraces him.

Who calls them? We embrace the one calling us for that reason Jesus Christ. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise. Say not in thine heart. Who shall ascend into heaven? That is to bring Christ down from above or who shall descend into the deep.

That is to bring up Christ again from the dead as If we could be saved by our own efforts and that is impossible. It's impossible because of what Dennis. What's the first thing that makes it impossible?

Well, here's a man that doesn't look to Christ and he says I'm saved. What is the very first thing that Eliminates the fact that he is saved. You can't you can't get away from that, can you? Eight. But what sayeth it?

The word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thine heart. That is the word of faith, which we preach now. Why did he say Greg that the word is near to you even in your mouth? And the next verse proves that Thou shalt confess with thy mouth of the Lord Jesus.

Now we come to the fact. Well, let me read the rest and Shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead. Thou shalt be saved. Well, first of all who can believe is that George it's sitting there.

Tell me who is it that can believe George it I can't hear you Christians, all right. Russell what makes you a Christian? It's been given to you to believe. Confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead.

Thou shalt be saved. You shall be. You will be saved. But who can believe? Who will even want to believe? Well Clarence let me drive this down to a point. Who can want to believe? Can you want to believe before you're saved?

That's right. Certainly not the lost sinner. He doesn't want to believe. Not the one who is servant of Satan. This is true, but If it were not Jesus giving us the belief we could not be saved. Is that true Russell?

For with the heart man believeth Under righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Confession is made with your mouth. Greg what if you're dumb? What if you can't speak? Can that person not be saved?

What about this confession is made? With your mouth our life contains no Impossibilities, yes, that's right. We're saved before we recognize the fact that I was lost. Yes. Yes, yes, he is worse off. There was a time when my Wife has a sister-in-law That believes.

You have to stand in front of your congregation. And tell them you're saved. Now the other words you must audibly confess. I don't know if she still believes that or not. This was years ago. But do you see how that would be by the works of your mouth.

Confessing Christ, Calling on the Lord, and the Gospel Preached to All

For the scriptures sayeth Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Greg what does the word ashamed mean? Embarrassed with. Fit closer. Be reluctant through fear or humiliation. You shall not be ashamed.

Now, what is it Russell? If you believe on him, you shall not be ashamed. How do you tie those two together and that's a growing thing? There was a time in my life. I was saved but I was so bashful that I wouldn't say it.

That's right. That's right. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek for the same Lord. Over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Now Bill. There's no difference between the Jew and the Greek.

How can that be? Well, I was. I was looking for the fact that there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile. But they think there is. Some Christians think there is. But there is none in the eyes of Christ or God.

There is no difference the all all people. Everybody has got to come to God through Jesus Christ, and that's the only way that's right. You can be as as good as any man has ever been. And if you do not have Christ, you're not safe.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord Shall be saved. But who can call upon the Lord? Salvation is not a feeling. It's a fact in yes. They will be. That's exactly right. In Deuteronomy 7 and 6 We have these words.

For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God the Lord. Thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people Unto himself above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you or choose you because you were more in number than any people.

For you were the fewest of all people in 1st John 3 10. In this the Church of God Are manifest. The children of God are manifest and the children of the devil are manifest. Whosoever Doeth not righteousness is not of God neither He that loveth not his brother.

So is the distinct difference 14. How then shall they call upon him and whom they have not believed? Well. How can you do that Greg? You can't. And how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard.

Clarence how can you do that? That's right. And how shall they hear without a preacher without someone to tell them? How are they going to hear. Did you realize that every one of you heard about the gospel first?

You had to hear first and now shall they. And How shall they preach except they be sent? There comes a breaking-down point. This sending must be by Jesus Christ alone not by some organization as It is written.

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For as I say is the Lord who has believed our report.

Isaiah 53 1 who has believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed. What does that mean to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed Greg? That's right. 17. So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Hearing the Word of God and the Fear of Man

But I say have they not heard. Yes, verily their sound went out into all of the earth and their words unto the ends of the world now. So then faith comes by hearing and we established that in the last verse.

You heard first. You didn't read first. You heard first and hearing by the Word of God. It is God that causes you to hear. But I say have they not all heard. Yes it's gone to all of the earth and The word for earth here is okay me off.

Means a whole inhabited earth the inhabitants themselves. In Psalms 19 3 there is no speech nor language. Where their voice is not heard? John 12 42. Nevertheless among the chief rulers. Also, many believed on him and because of the Pharisees.

But because of the Pharisees Did not confess him lest they should be put out of the synagogue. They believed on him and That's always been a mystery to me how they could believe and not confess. How can they do that John?

That's right. That's that's so true and so accurate. Yes Yes in John 12 43 For they loved the praise of men More than the praise of God. I Want to stop right there. These are those priests that believed.

They believed like Satan believed. All right. Is there any other the word from anybody? Dennis dismisses, please.
