Joshua 18 Then the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled themselves at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there, and the land was subdued before them.

And there remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not divided their inheritance. So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which

Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you? Provide for yourselves three men from each tribe that I may send them, in that they may arise and walk through the land, and write a description of it according to their inheritance.

Then they shall return to me, and they shall divide it into seven portions. Judah shall stay in its territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall stay in their territory on the north.

So you shall write a description of the land in seven divisions, and bring the description here to me.

I will cast lots for you here before Yahweh our God. For the Levites have no portion among you, because the priesthood of Yahweh is their inheritance.

Gad and Reuben and the half -tribe of Manasseh also have received their inheritance eastward beyond the

Jordan, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave them. Then the men arose and went.

And Joshua commanded those who went to write the description of the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and write a description of it, and return to me.

Then I will cast lots for you here before Yahweh in Shiloh. So the men went and passed through the land and wrote a description of it by cities in seven divisions in a book.

And they came to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh. And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before Yahweh.

And there Joshua divided the land to the sons of Israel according to their divisions. Now the lot of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin came up according to their families.

And the territory of their lot lay between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph. And their border on the north side was from the

Jordan. Then the border went up the side of Jericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward.

And it ended at the wilderness of Beth -Avon. From there the border passed on to Luz, to the side of Luz, that is,

Bethel, southward. And the border went down to Adaroth Adar, near the hill which lies on the south of lower

Beth -Haran. Then the border curved from there and turned round on the west side southward, from the hill which lies before Beth -Haran southward.

And it ended at Kiriath -Bael, that is, Kiriath -Jerim, a city of the sons of Judah.

This was the west side. Then the south side was from the edge of Kiriath -Jerim. Then the border went out westward, and went out of the fountain to the waters of Neptoah.

Then the border went down to the edge of the hill, which is in the valley of Ben -Hanom, which is in the valley of Rephaim, northward.

And it went down to the valley of Hanom, to the slope of the Jebusite southward, and went down to En -Rogel.

Then it curved northward, and went out to En -Shemesh, and went out to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adumim.

And the border ended at the north bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the south border.

Moreover, the Jordan was its border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, according to their families, and according to its border all around.

Now the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, according to their families, were Jericho, and Beth -Hoglah, and Emek, and Kazez, and Beth -Erebah, and Zemiriam, and Bethel, and Avim, and Parah, and Orphra, and Shephar, Ammoni, and Ophni, and Geba, twelve cities with their villages,

Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beoroth, and Mizpah, and Shepherah, and Mozah, and Rechem, and Erepeel, and Terilah, and Zelah, and Hileth, and the

Then the second lot came out for Simeon, for the tribe of the sons of Simeon, according to their families, and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah.

So they had as their inheritance Beersheba, or Sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar -Shual, and Bela, and Ezzam, and Eltalad, and Bethel, and Hormah, and Ziklag, and Beth -Merkaboth, and Hazar -Susa, and Beth -Lebeoth, and Cheruun, thirteen cities with their villages,

Ayin, Ramon, and Ether, and Eshan, four cities with their villages, and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Balath -Bir,

Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, according to their families.

The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them.

So the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance. Now the third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun, according to their families, and the territory of their inheritance was as far as Sarid.

Then their border went up to the west, and to Maralah, and then it reached Dabasheth, and reached the brook that is before Jachniyim.

Then it turned from Sarid to the east, toward the sunrise, as far as the border of Chisloth -Tabor, and it went out to Debarath, and up to Japhia.

From there it passed on to the east, toward the sunrise, to Gath -Hephur, and to Eth -Kazin, and it went out to Ramon, which curves to Neah.

And the border circled around it to the north, to Hanathon, and it ended at the valley of Iptahel.

Included also were Ketah and Nahalal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Bethlehem, twelve cities with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun, according to their families, these cities with their villages.

The fourth lot came out for Issachar, for the sons of Issachar, according to their families. And their territory included

Jezreel, and Chesiloth, and Shunem, and Hephariam, and Shayan, and Anaharath, and Rabith, and Kishion, and Abez, and Rameth, and En -Ganum, and En -Hadah, and Beth -Pazez.

And the border reached to Tabor, and Shahu -Samah, and Beth -Shemesh, and their border ended at the

Jordan, sixteen cities with their villages. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, according to their families, the cities with their villages.

Now the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, according to their families. And their territory was

Helkath, and Hali, and Batan, and Axaf, and Al -Lamalek, and Amad, and Mishal.

And it reached to Carmel on the west, and to Shaihor -Libnath. Then it turned east toward the sunrise, to Beth -Dagon, and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iftihel, northward to Beth -Emek, and Nile.

Then it went out to the north, to Kabul, and to Ebron, and to Rehob, and to Haman, and Kanna, as far as great

Sidon. Then the border turned to Ramah, and to the fortified city of Tyre. Then the border turned to Hosah, and it ended at the sea by the region of Aqsib.

Included also were Umah, and Aphek, and Rehob, twenty -two cities with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher, according to their families, these cities with their villages.

The sixth lot came out for the sons of Naphtali, for the sons of Naphtali, according to their families.

And their border was from Haleph, from the Oak and Zananim, and Adami -Nechab, and Jabneel, as far as Lachum, and it ended at the

Jordan. Then the border turned westward to Asnoth -Tabor, and went out from there to Hukak.

And it reached to Zebulun on the south, and reached to Asher on the west, and to Judah at the Jordan to the east toward the sunrise.

Now the fortified cities were Zadim, Zer, and Hamath, Rakath, and Chenareth, and Adama, and Ramah, and Hazor, and Kadesh, and Edrei, and En Hazor, and Yaron, and Migdal El, Horem, and Beth Anath, and Beth Shemesh, nineteen cities with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, according to their families, the cities with their villages.

The seventh lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Dan, according to their families. In the territory of their inheritance was

Zorah, and Eshtoel, and Ir Shemesh, and Jalaban, and Ajalon, and Ithlah, and Elan, and Timnah, and Ekron, and Eltikeh, and Gibethon, and Balath, and Jehud, and Ben -Barak, and Gath -Ramon, and Maj -Arkan, and Rakan, with the territory over against Joppa.

In the territory of the sons of Dan went out from them. For the sons of Dan went up, and fought with Leshem, and captured it.

Then they struck it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and settled in it. And they called Leshem Dan, after the name of Dan, their father.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan, according to their families, these cities with their villages.

So they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders. Then the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun.

In accordance with the command of Yahweh, they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath -sara in the hill country of Ephraim.

So he built the city, and settled in it. These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel, distributed by Lot and Shiloh before Yahweh, at the doorway of the tent of meeting.

Let Israel be glad in his Maker. Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise

His name with dancing. With tambourine and lyre let them sing praises to Him. For Yahweh takes pleasure in His people.

He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation. Let the holy ones exult in glory.

Let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the exaltations of God be in their throats, and a two -edged sword in their hand.

To execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples. To bind their kings with chains, and their honored men with fetters of iron.

To execute on them the judgment written, This is the majesty of all His holy ones.

Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds. Praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet blast. Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourine and dancing.

Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Praise Him with clashing cymbals.

Every one deceives his neighbor and does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies.

They weary themselves committing iniquity. Your habitation is in the midst of deceit.

Through deceit they refuse to know me, declares YHWH. Therefore, thus says

YHWH of hosts, Behold, I will refine them and test them. For what else can

I do, because of the daughter of my people? Their tongue is a slaughtering arrow. It speaks deceit.

With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, but inwardly he sets an ambush for him.

Shall I not punish them for these things, declares YHWH? On a nation such as this shall

I not avenge myself? For the mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a funeral lamentation, because they are turned into ruins so that no one passes through, and the lowing of the cattle is not heard.

Both the birds of the sky and the beasts have fled, they are gone. I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.

Who is the wise man that may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of YHWH has spoken, that he may declare it?

13:39

Why is the land perished, turned into ruin like a desert so that no one passes through?

13:45

YHWH said, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not listened to my voice nor walked according to it, but have walked after the stubbornness of their heart and after the bales, as their fathers taught them.

Therefore, thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood, and give them poisoned water to drink.

I will scatter them among the nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

Thus says YHWH, Carefully consider and call for the mourning women that they may come, and send for the skillful women that they may come.

Let them make haste and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may shed tears and our eyelids flow with water.

For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion. How we are destroyed! We are put to great shame, for we have left the land because they have cast down our dwellings.

Indeed, hear the word of YHWH, O you women, and let your ear receive the word of His mouth.

Teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbor of funeral lamentation. For death has come up through our windows, it has entered our palaces, to cut off the infants from the streets, the choicemen from the open squares.

Speak, thus declares YHWH, The corpses of men will fall like dung on the open field, and like the sheaf after the reaper, but no one will gather them.

Thus says YHWH, Let not a wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not a mighty man boast in his might.

Let not a rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am

YHWH who shows lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth. For I delight in these things, declares

YHWH. Behold, the days are coming, declares YHWH, that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised,

Matthew 23 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, saying,

The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses. Therefore, all that they tell you, do and keep, but do not do according to their deeds.

For they say things and do not do them. And they tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men's shoulders.

But they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger. But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men.

16:33

For they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments. And they love the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues, and respectful greetings in the marketplaces, and being called rabbi by men.

But do not be called rabbi, for one is your teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth your father, for one is your father, he who is in heaven.

Do not be called instructors, for one is your instructor, that is, Christ. But the greatest among you shall be your servant.

And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you are like whitewashed tombs, which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.

In this way you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, and say,

If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.

So you bear witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.

Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?
