So I'm gonna continue preaching on The devil knowing your enemy our enemy the devil and this time it's about the devil's offspring and I know that the subject matter that I've been dealing with these past few weeks is is controversial and on a more mature level in In different respects, so I wanted to be mindful of that And so parents may also just need to break it down for your little ones for your kids
00:40
And I'll do my best to keep the the the sermon at an appropriate level I also need to make a few corrections from from last week in my last sermon
00:51
I said that God was the one trying to kill Abel and To destroy the messianic seed which is not obviously what
00:59
I meant. I meant the devil it's the devil that's trying to do that because in Genesis also says that Sin lies crouching at the door waiting to pounce you and so that is what the enemy does the world the flesh the devil
01:15
Lies at the door ready to pounce like a roaring lion lion as Peter says as well and Last week
01:25
I also said that answers in Genesis, which is a prominent ministry creation ministry
01:31
Creation science ministry. I said that they promote the sethite view of the
01:38
Nephilim But now they seem more open to other views including the fallen angel view the one that I'm I'm putting forth as as my view and But so the sethite view if you recall is the view where They don't believe it was fallen angels that Procreated with the women that it was just men.
02:03
It was the the men that that they were evil men that procreated with with the women and The there was no
02:13
Giants. In other words, they were just men evil men. And so we kind of talked about how inconsistent the
02:20
That view is with the scriptures. We'll cover that a little bit more today again So that in one of their articles from answers in Genesis, they say answers in Genesis Officially doesn't take a particular stand on this issue as a ministry but seeks to encourage readers to carefully study the scriptures and always maintain the
02:41
Word of God as the ultimate authority on all things and Personally, you know,
02:47
I think this is a cop -out It's very it's kind of disappointing and frustrating because Their entire ministry is basically dedicated to explaining the book of Genesis so it's kind of like you're not really doing your job if that's what you're
03:03
Defining your ministry as and you're refusing to take a position on a pretty important topic
03:08
I mean, it's not it's not insignificant. And so that that was disappointing
03:14
But at least they're being open to the other perspectives Particularly the fallen angel perspective they do have somebody on staff is by the name of dr
03:24
Tim Chafee, and he's written like a 500 page book on Taking the fallen the fallen angel view of which is which is very very good compelling stuff
03:35
I don't fully agree with with him either, but I mean, it's very very compelling arguments that he makes
03:44
I Also want to give credit to where it's due again very indebted to pastor
03:51
G Craig Lewis and his DVDs on the truth behind hip -hop series and that kind and that series that really has helped me to formulate my thinking on this issue and Also, dr.
04:02
Michael Heizer. He's got some very helpful books that he's written as well And also
04:08
I didn't mention this one last time but Doug Pastor Douglas Van Dorn.
04:13
He is a reformed Baptist who actually wrote a book on the sons of the God and taking the fallen angel view
04:20
Also, very very interesting Read and he he's right in our camp.
04:26
So that that's a really good resource to take advantage of right there So I want to make before I dig into the subject matter
04:36
I also want to make a another public service announcement, which is actually pretty relevant to the topic the devil regarding politics and I know
04:47
I've been calling out the Democratic Party repeatedly Rightly so because they are basically a bunch of devils
04:56
But just because I call out Democrats does not mean that all Republicans are good
05:03
Some of them are good. Some of them are Christians But some of them are bad and some of them are hypocrites and there's a political term for it called
05:13
Rhino It's a Republican and name only so you don't you we don't want those guys.
05:18
They're they're not good and the Republican Party as we've been seeing in the news and what's going on with Trump and all of these
05:27
Drama and these problems going on the Republican Party They need to drain their own swamp of all the all the cowards and the traitors as well
05:34
There's problems in that in that party, too But even though some Republicans are bad
05:41
Do not make the mistake of thinking that they're as bad as a Democratic Party and they're not all bad
05:47
There is no moral equivalence there whatsoever Okay, that let's not get that confused the Democratic politicians are far far far worse.
05:56
Okay there they are completely unacceptable in God's eyes At least the
06:02
Republican Party platform aligns much closer to the scriptures even though it's not necessarily in every
06:09
Everything The Democratic Party on the other hand loves the world and is of the world
06:17
And if they were honest They would call themselves the party of the world the flesh and the devil that wants to steal kill and destroy you
06:26
That really should be their motto their little tagline their campaign, you know, whatever they call it.
06:31
So Why because they blatantly attack the family they push Marxism they redistribute wealth they promote abortion
06:39
Racism the LGBT agenda all kinds of Antichrist stuff that they consider good
06:45
So it's it's totally worldly and ungodly and the list goes on but God is not mocked and they of course obviously they must repent or or they will perish and so do the ungodly
06:57
Republicans that are being hypocrites and not Doing what the
07:04
Moral law of God says to do in the public sphere So we as Christians have an obligation as well, obviously to not vote for them and to expose their wickedness instead
07:16
As God commands us in Ephesians 5 11 and various other passages okay, so with that being said now
07:25
I Wanted to do a recap in from my last sermon Why I covered the origin nature and mission of the devil himself
07:36
And I kind of left us with a cliffhanger Last time it was with the question of why did the sons of God the fallen angels procreate with human women?
07:47
Why did they do that and it all goes back to Genesis 3 15? When the
07:53
Lord God said to the serpent Because you have done this Cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field on your belly?
08:03
You shall go and thus you shall eat all the days of your life I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring or seed
08:14
He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel
08:20
And I forgot to mention One of the songs that we sang today a lot of them were very good but And I'll hail the power of Jesus name
08:30
One of the lines there is you chosen seed of Israel's race you ransomed from the fall
08:36
And a big hearty amen to that because this is actually very relevant to what I'm going to be preaching about today
08:48
God threatened the devil and Pronounced judgment on him by prophesying the serpent crushing seed or offspring of the woman
09:01
This is the very first gospel proclamation in the scriptures and as I said the that's the subject of the sermon is specifically the devil's offspring
09:16
Now the devil's mission as I mentioned before is the same as the
09:23
Democratic Party's Right is to steal kill and destroy and and to corrupt creation in general
09:30
But the offspring of the woman in particular that was the mission of the devil. That is the devil's mission and the serpent in Genesis 3 in the
09:42
Hebrews not Nahash Nahash I Want to make a dive a little deeper into this because the serpent was not a mere serpent
09:53
But also a shining one a Shining one this remember when we read from the book of Enoch and from the various passages in Ezekiel and Isaiah Where shining ones referred to?
10:07
angels supernatural angelic beings and Dr. Heiser explains that the the
10:15
NCH SH of Nahash are also the consonants of the verb form of that word if we change the vowels to a verbal form and You have to remember that the
10:28
Hebrew originally had no vowels We would have no cash, which means the diviner the diviner
10:38
Divination refers to communication with the supernatural world a Diviner in the ancient world was one who foretold omens or gave out divine information
10:48
Oracles we can see that element in the story Eve is getting information from this being the supposedly enlightened being right and He continues to literate readers of the
11:03
Hebrew Bible the lemon Nahash Would have intentionally so brought to mind other elements to the original readers the dispensing of divine knowledge the verb form is one and luminescence or Nahash is of the same root as Nehoshet which is copper or bronze a biblical
11:26
Hebrew and with respect to the latter It is worth noting that the
11:31
Aramaic NCH SH also refers to copper or shining bronze something bright evoking the same sense of radiance or brilliance
11:43
Now So that there's it's not just a snake right and This is important because the offspring of both the serpent and the woman can be taken in two different senses
11:58
The Natural or physical on the one hand and the spiritual or supernatural on the other hand in the supernatural sense it refers to partly the devil who was a guardian a musical cherub
12:18
Becoming prideful and rebelling against God in heaven and also motive motivating a third of the angels to rebel with him as well
12:28
These angels may have ruled and resided in the previous world that was evidently judged and destroyed prior to being replaced by the creation of our earth
12:41
According to Genesis 1 and Various other passages that I covered that flash back and point back to Genesis and creation like Jeremiah 4
12:53
If you recall now in the natural sense
13:00
God created our world in order to fellowship with his creation with Eden as a temple
13:10
For both God and man to walk and dwell together that was
13:17
What Eden was for? This also However made the devil jealous
13:23
He coveted the special creation dominion and nature of man and his relation to God as a son of God as The Jesus said or the biblical genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3 where it says that Adam was a son of God And it's also pointing similarly to the sons of God the
13:48
B 'nai the B 'nai ha -Elohim which referred to the angels But this was a very particular special relationship that the angels didn't have the devil and his angels
14:00
Should have been satisfied with the role and purpose that God created them for Which was obviously a different role and purpose from?
14:12
humans from men That phrase by the way the devil and his angels is from Matthew 25 41 so that is that that is the
14:21
Bible is telling you that this happened the devil led a Revolt a rebellion a mutiny in heaven against God But instead of course they sought to corrupt and to destroy the natural and spiritual work of God The promised natural offspring of the woman by their own physical hybrid offspring the
14:48
Nephilim or the Nephilim and ushering in all manner of physical and spiritual wickedness in Both the natural and spiritual sense the devil seed also points to the fallen angels and to the wicked disembodied spirits of their giant
15:09
Nephilim Offspring which are called demons. That's what the
15:14
Bible refers to as demons now unbelievers are
15:24
Also the spiritual offspring of the devil This is what we have to account for we can't forget the fact that there's also a spiritual layer to this
15:35
Unbelievers are the spiritual offspring of the devil because they are under his power influence and blinding deception and like 1st
15:44
John 5 13 says in 2nd Corinthians 4 4 and Such as when
15:49
Jesus condemned the Pharisees and called them sons of the devil in John 8 44
15:59
Now on the good side of things The natural offspring of the woman is the genetically preserved the genetically pure spiritually purified and redeemed lineage of Christ's ancestry from Adam to Israel Abraham Isaac and Jacob to Judah David King David and so on and ultimately to Christ himself the very
16:29
God man Who was that pure seed of the woman now?
16:39
On the flip side all believers are also the spiritual offspring they are the spiritual offspring of of the seed
16:52
The spiritual seed which all the Bible also says the spiritual seed of Abraham Like Galatians point to in Romans as well.
17:00
We are the spiritual seed The Bible explicitly says that so now let's turn back.
17:08
Let's go back to Genesis 6 To pick up to continue where we left off here in Genesis chapter 6 starting in verse 1
17:31
Genesis chapter 6 says when man began to multiply in the face of the land and daughters were born to them the sons of God Saw that the daughters of man were attractive
17:43
Remember that all of the angels are male Remember that and they took as their wives any they chose
17:50
Then the Lord said my spirit shall not abide in man forever for he is flesh his day shall be 120 years the
17:57
Nephilim men of stature Notorious men were on the earth in those days.
18:03
The word is also giants in the Greek. It's also translated Gigantes or gigas is giants.
18:10
It means giants They were the
18:16
Nephilim and Sorry, I lost my place here We're the we're on the we're on the earth in those days and also afterward when or possibly whenever The sons of God the b 'nai ha -elohim came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them
18:36
These were the mighty men who were of old So the men of renown the
18:44
Lord God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and Every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
18:53
Continually take note of that and the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth
18:58
And of course, of course God is not one to change his mind. God doesn't change. That's an anthropomorphism, right?
19:05
It's expressing God's Anger over what happened what has happened his wrath
19:13
And it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land man and animals and Creeping things and birds of the heavens pay attention to that For I'm sorry that I've made them but Noah found favor in the eyes of the
19:33
Lord So the term sons of God And I need a kind of fill in this a little bit the term sons of God Can always be taken to mean angels spiritual angelic beings angelic beings in Scripture Good or bad?
19:53
Good or bad? Which is contrary to the sethite view which denies that that in here it refers to fallen angels
20:03
And remember also that angels ain't okay. Angels do have bodies. Okay, they do have bodies.
20:10
They are not They're not these spiritually You know bodiless beings they have bodies and I even covered the passages in Ezekiel and Isaiah where Lucifer was a cherub who was made of these jewels and of these instruments and stuff
20:29
So angels have bodies now, there's different kinds of angels That the
20:35
Bible talks about but they have bodies So that's an important distinction to keep in mind
20:42
And they can also take human form Okay, they can also take human form very important Genesis 19 verse 4 through 5 for example says but before they
20:56
Thus the angels that God sent to lot Lay down the men of the city the men of Sodom both young and old all the people to the last man
21:08
Surrounded the hat the house and they called to lot. Where are the men? Where are the men who came to you tonight?
21:17
okay, so they thought they were men and They were actually angels, right?
21:25
So very important and this is actually related this
21:31
Episode of Sodom and Gomorrah is related to the sin to the very sin of the fallen angels, which we will revisit later on Now Hebrews 13 to also says do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers for thereby
21:46
Some have entered entertained angels unawares So they can they can take human form they can appear as men
21:56
Without us even knowing the difference Keep this in mind too Now that now having set that context
22:05
Why did God also wipe out the rest of the earth and the animals except the ones that were saved in the ark and Not just mankind think about that.
22:16
Remember that We need to carefully discern the context in Genesis 6 5 and That it refers to not just okay.
22:29
This is another important Clarification that we need to understand The wickedness
22:35
The the evil in Genesis 6 5 is not just referring to human evil to human depravity but also to the wickedness of the
22:45
Nephilim Giants that Further corrupted the human race and the rest of creation as well.
22:52
Not just spiritually but physically Remember the seed of the serpent right the seed of the serpent
22:59
There's a physical aspect and there's a natural spiritual aspect of this and both of them were being corrupted
23:07
So This is not a bare statement and judgment of radical human depravity as Calvinists we can fall into this trap and we have to be careful not to fall into that trap and over Emphasize the human depravity when that's not all that was going on in here
23:29
The Calvinist doctrine of radical depravity is that every part? Every part of the natural unregenerate man is corrupted by the fall and by original sin
23:40
Every part of him is affected Whereby he is utterly
23:46
Indisposed disabled and made opposite unto all that is spiritually good and wholly inclined to all evil and that Continually which is commonly called original original sin and from which to proceed all actual
24:00
Transgressions, that's the Westminster larger catechism question 25 It does not however
24:09
Mean that the natural unregenerate sinner is utterly depraved
24:17
Okay, it does not mean that he's as bad as he can be We need to have that important distinction in our mind.
24:27
It means that he is completely corrupted In every part that every part of him is corrupted, but not that not me
24:35
It does not mean that he's as bad as he can be Genesis Genesis 6 5 on the other hand does appear to describe utter depravity the utter depravity of Mankind with the fallen angels in the
24:51
Nephilim Especially because they attempted to corrupt God's entire creation the entire earth and the promised seed of the woman
25:02
Okay, very important to make have this understanding and It's why
25:08
God made such a drastic judgment he he wiped it all out right he wiped everything out so This is also an important part of our apologetics or our defense of the
25:28
Christian faith. That's what it means Whenever objectors Slander God as a cruel tyrant like Richard Dawkins, you know all these atheists and stuff like that because God sometimes
25:40
Commanded the complete destruction and annihilation of certain peoples in the Old Testament if you recall
25:47
This happened several times in the Bible and sometimes he almost completely wiped out the Jews But God was commanding in in many of these episodes
25:59
God was actually commanding the slaughter of wicked Giants. These weren't just men
26:06
Okay, these were hybrid offspring of fallen angels that were polluted by constant sin
26:14
False religion and corrupted genetics Okay, this is these were bad.
26:20
Oh, these were bad guys. Okay, this these was not just men That is why God was so clear about utterly destroying everything
26:28
Not leaving anything alive. Not their cattle. Not their nothing wipe it out completely because they were corrupted they had corrupted everything and continued to do so and so another important important distinction here
26:49
Even though Noah was a herald or preacher of righteousness When God brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly
26:58
That's 2nd Peter 2 5. He was not Preaching to the wicked
27:04
Nephilim Giants to get them saved Okay, the Nephilim Giants were not meant to ever get saved.
27:11
They were meant to be destroyed and judged Noah was preaching to his family
27:19
To the seven others that were with him, okay Which is also a tremendous encouragement for small churches, right?
27:29
Amen So now this brings us to the book of back to the books of Enoch and of Joshua this is very important and although They are not
27:45
God -breathed. They're not in they're not part of the scriptures These books were nevertheless used by ancient
27:53
Israel and the early Christian churches reliable historical sources. Okay and so Yeah, and recall also
28:05
I forgot to make this point recall also that when God was judging these wicked nations really
28:11
Israel were giant slayers Moses slayed Giants Abraham slayed
28:17
Giants King David slayed Giants. They all throughout the Bible. They are slaying Giants slaying corrupt tyrannical wicked
28:25
Giants And and also to preserve God's creation and God's seed
28:31
So there's a very specific purpose why God was instructing and commanding
28:37
Israel to do these things Okay, so now The books of Enoch and of Joshua shed more light on this on what's going on here
28:47
The The these books are similar to the apocryphal book of Maccabees. It's not scripture it's a historical book from the from the silent era between the
28:58
Old and the New Testaments the intertestamental period and It's a it's a historical book that is historically reliable, but it's not inspired
29:07
It's not God breathed so they provide commentary these books provide commentary on the devil and his angels
29:14
How they sinned and how the biblical narrative unfolded? Okay, and the
29:21
Bible itself Refers to and quotes these very books. Okay, so first Enoch This is from the
29:30
Lexham Bible Dictionary first Enoch Resembles certain Old Testament books and form and thought and it may have influenced the authors of the
29:38
New Testament first Enoch seems to have especially influenced early
29:43
Christian understandings of angels and The phrase son of man not just Christian but Jewish as well
29:51
And first Enoch is even quoted in Jude 14 through 15 the book seems to have been popular in Judaism and Christianity during the centuries immediately preceding and following Jesus birth
30:02
First Enoch provides a more detailed picture of the biblical world of this period especially with regard to theology okay, so Jude 14 and 15 says it was also about these that Enoch the seventh from Adam Prophesied saying behold the
30:24
Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of their deeds of Ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him
30:41
This is a quote from the book of Enoch all right, so It's important to be aware of this and to not shy away from it
30:50
But to recognize its usefulness is historical usefulness. It helps to shed light on this on these issues
30:58
And the book of Enoch was actually lost for centuries Apparently and it wasn't discovered until recently like I think the late 1700s
31:06
By by somebody and was able to translate it So it was lost for a good while and only the
31:11
Ethiopian Church had it and they consider it. They consider it Godbrey they consider it part of the canon of scripture along with other books like the book of Jubilee and of Jasher.
31:22
So In the in the
31:28
Joshua 10 13 also refers to the book of Jasher 2nd
31:34
Samuel 118 same thing and 2nd Kings 1st Kings 8 8 2 8 and 12 to 13 refers to the book of the song as Well So in Joshua chapter 10 verses 12 to 13 it says at that time
31:51
Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel and he said inside of Israel son stand still at Gibeon and moon in the valley of Aijalon and the
32:07
Sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on their enemies Is this not written in the book of Jasher?
32:15
The Sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set forth for about a whole day
32:21
So there you go in 2nd Samuel 1 17 through 18 Says and David lamented with his lamentation over Saul and Jonathan his son
32:32
Because they died and he said it should be taught to the people of Judah Behold it is written in the book of Jasher Here is what the book the book of Jasher.
32:44
Okay, so the Bible makes a number of references to these books
32:50
Now this is what the book of Jasher itself says in chapter 4 verses 16 through 19.
32:56
Okay, pay attention and all the sons of men departed from the ways of the
33:02
Lord in those days of Genesis 6 before the flood as They multiplied upon the face of the earth with sons and daughters and they taught one another
33:12
Their evil practices and continued sinning against the Lord recall that the thoughts was only evil continually right utter depravity evil continually and Also acting it out continually and Every man made unto himself a
33:33
God and they robbed and plundered every man his neighbor as well as his relative and they corrupted the earth and the earth was filled with violence and their judges and rulers
33:45
This is referring to the Watchers the fallen angels Watchers is another word for angels and Daniel refers to the
33:53
Watchers as well They went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force
33:58
From their husbands according to their choice and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth and the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air listen to this and taught the mixture of animals and of one species with the other literally talking about genetic engineering
34:24
Genetic fusing and chimeras and the Bible describes actually some of these creatures some of these monsters
34:32
In order therewith to provoke the Lord and And God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth all men and all animals and The Lord God said
34:48
I will blot out man that I created from the face of the earth Yay from man to the birds of the air
34:53
Together together with cattle and beasts that are in the field for I repent that I made them
35:00
Okay, so very interesting A passage here and Yeah, it's talking about mixing stuff.
35:09
The the Bible makes references to some of these creatures like the Lilith and the screech owl and the the the what's it called the
35:18
Griffin and the Satyrs the Bible refers to these creatures and so God wanted to wipe it out and verse 19
35:32
Okay Yeah, verse 19 says Yeah, I just read that.
35:38
So this is why God destroyed all of Creation in the flood because the
35:43
Nephilim had corrupted man as well as animals everything
35:50
Some also take the view that certain dinosaurs were Destroyed in the flood because they were corrupted
35:58
Nephilim pets So they wanted to have their pets I guess But yeah
36:06
That's what we see and that is you why we see God in the Bible says he wanted to destroy everything
36:12
Get rid of everything and start new so Now here is what the book of Enoch first Enoch says, okay pay attention and And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them
36:33
Beautiful and comely daughters and the angels the children of heaven the sons of God Saw and lusted after them and said to one on one another come
36:46
Let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children that's from chapter 6 and chapter 7
36:56
It says and all the others together with them the fallen angels took unto themselves wives and Each chose for himself one and they began to go into them and to defile themselves with them and they taught them charms and Enchantments and cutting of roots and made them acquainted with plants very interesting their plant drugs drugs pharmakeia
37:23
Sorcery and they became pregnant and they bear great
37:28
Giants whose height was 3 ,000 L's who consumed all the acquisitions of men and When men could no longer sustain them
37:38
The Giants turned against them and devoured mankind they devoured they consumed them and they began to sin against birds and Beasts and reptiles and fish and to devour one another's flesh and to drink the blood and The earth laid accusation against these lawless ones
38:00
They sinned against everything all creation The Nephilim in other words with a giant hybrid offspring of fallen angels and of human women
38:10
It's if it wasn't clear enough in the scriptures and we will see it's even clearer in the
38:16
New Testament It's gonna it's gonna make it even clearer But this really sheds light on what the
38:21
Bible is describing so and according to one article First Enoch doesn't interpret the
38:28
Nephilim as heroic in any traditional sense instead the book of Watchers Describes the
38:34
Nephilim as great Giants whose height was 3 ,000 L's Now an
38:40
L is an old measurement equal to about 45 inches so these Giants according to this were about 11 ,200 feet tall or over two miles
38:52
Okay. Now That's that's a discrepancy though. So don't don't get too excited about that yet Enoch is also not the only source for this interpretation of the
39:03
Nephilim It can also be found in for example the book of Giants One of the day which is part of the
39:09
Dead Sea Scrolls so this is why God God judged the entire earth and And so the the height of the
39:19
Nephilim 3 ,000 L's From Enoch 7 2 is actually it's a mistranslation. It's not a it's not correct a better translation from John Beatty in 1839 is
39:30
Says that and there were born unto them three sorts Three sorts the first were great
39:37
Giants and to the Giants were born Nephilim and to the Nephilim were born Eliud So that's a better rendering of what that passage is saying now that doesn't take away from the fact that they were still
39:48
Giants and there were different levels of Giants in the Bible as the genetic pool started to deteriorate and to dissipate
39:57
The earlier Giants were probably much taller. We're talking like much taller probably 20 -30 feet
40:06
Whereas Goliath was more like 10 11 12 feet Okay, so Now So what happened to the sons of God then the fallen angels that sinned against mankind?
40:20
What happened to them? Let's find out by turning to 2nd
40:25
Peter chapter 2 a very revealing passage
40:38
Here in 2nd Peter chapter 2 starting at verse 1 so 2nd
40:53
Peter chapter 2 verse 1 says but there were also false prophets among the people And skipping a verse 3 and in greediness
41:00
They will exploit you with false words whose condemnation from long ago is not idle and their destruction is not asleep
41:08
For if God did not spare the angels who sin But held them captive in Tartarus With chains or in pits of darkness and handed them over to be kept for judgment and did not spare the ancient world but preserved
41:28
Noah a proclaimer or preacher of righteousness and seven others when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly
41:38
Notice that this implies that Noah and the seven were not ungodly. Okay, that's gonna be relevant later on and Condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction
41:49
Remember when I have quoted day before There's a parallel here
41:55
Reducing them to ashes having appointed them as examples for those who are going to the to be ungodly and rescued righteous lot worn down by the way of life of lawless persons in license licentiousness
42:10
For that righteous man as he lived among them day after day was tormenting his righteous soul by the lawless deeds
42:17
He was seeing and hearing then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials like he saved
42:26
Noah and his family and to reserve the unrighteous to be punished at the
42:33
Day of Judgment and Especially those listen to this who go after the flesh and defiling lust and despise authority okay, this is this is a like Unequivocal description of the fallen angels of exactly what the fallen angels did
42:57
Nothing this this doesn't describe anything else but the fallen angels
43:04
Notice to the sharp moral contrast in this passage One group is good godly righteous subservient to God's authority and Is saved by God The other group is bad ungodly unrighteous unnatural lawless despise
43:30
God's authority and are condemned by God See the contrast there now
43:37
Let's correlate this with Jude 5 Let's turn to Jude 5 Where we see a similar passage now in Jude letter of Jude I Forgot to mention that Jude actually not just explicitly quotes the book of Enoch, but refers to it or alludes to it like over 12 times okay, so this was a
44:14
You'll see you'll see the the similarities and starting in verse 5
44:20
Now I want to remind you Although you know everything once and for all that Jesus having saved the people out of the land of Egypt the second time destroyed
44:30
Those who did not believe and the angels who did not keep their own domain
44:38
But deserted their proper dwelling place He has kept in eternal bonds under deep gloom and darkness for the judgment of the great day as Sodom and Gomorrah and the towns around them indulge in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire unnatural desire in the same way as these are
45:08
Exhibited as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire You see the parallel is even more explicit here
45:18
There was unnatural perverted lusts in Sodom and Gomorrah the men going after men and all of that stuff and now there's parallel the the parallel of the angels unnaturally going after human women
45:36
This is this is undeniably clear Dr. Michael Heizer also says he
45:43
Comments on this passage these two passages scholars agree that the passages are about the same subject matter
45:48
They describe an episode from the time of Noah in the flood when angels sin
45:54
That sin which precipitated the flood Meaning it provoked the flood
46:00
Was sexual in nature it is placed in the same category as the sin that prompted the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah of unnatural lust and and likewise the transgression was interpreted by Peter and Jude as evidence of despising authority and The boundaries of proper dwelling for the proper for the parties concern
46:24
They abandoned their role their God -appointed purpose and role which is the goal which is what the seat of the serpent was trying to do
46:34
All those All of those elements are transparent in Genesis 6 1 through 4 there is simply no other sin in the entire
46:43
Old Testament that meets these specific details and No other angelic sin at all in the
46:49
Old Testament that might be the referent the referent That's from his book on reversing
46:55
Herman So this is I think very clear.
47:00
It is really undeniably clear what this is pointing to There's really no question about it
47:07
So now I also wanted to make another caveat or public service announcement regarding dr.
47:14
Michael Heizer While his work is very useful It's very useful.
47:21
He does have inconsistent views on some important doctrines That I just want to make you aware of in case you want to read his stuff
47:30
He claims for example, and this is he's not the only one. There's other people who take this view
47:37
He for example, he claims that biblical theology by definition comes from the biblical text or ought to not from Christian history or the writings of Christians about the
47:51
Bible We must be committed to the biblical text read and interpreted in its own ancient context
47:59
Not a later context for our theology so If you've been
48:06
You know following along like what I've been preaching this this whole time and not just the series but every pretty much every time
48:15
There's something seriously wrong with this, okay Hopefully you'll pick up on it
48:22
Annihilationists also have a similar problem. They're the ones who believe that the soul ceases to exist when it's a when it's judged by God in Condemnation it simply expires.
48:33
It ceases to exist completely. It's annihilated. They have a similar problem to this
48:38
Because they tend to use the Old Testament to interpret the new instead of vice versa The problem is that we must not only interpret a passage in its own context in its own immediate context but also in the light of the entire biblical doctrinal systematic context of the whole
49:05
Council of God Amen of Tota scriptura Tota scriptura all of Scripture Not just the immediate context
49:16
And this is why I think Heizer falls into some interpretive errors
49:24
He fails to recognize Also the principle of progressive revelation he undermines it
49:32
Which is that older revelation especially the Old Testament must be interpreted in light of the newer
49:40
Revelation, especially the New Testament It's more authoritative because it's more it's it's more advanced and it reveals more like Peter says we have a more sure word of prophecy and any any revelation, okay any revelation from God in The word must be interpreted in light of all of God's revelation all of it
50:07
We cannot Contradict God's Word. We nevertheless have to account for all of it
50:14
But it means that the New Testament sheds light on the old in many of these cases like we just read
50:20
This is a perfect example of that in Jude 5 and 2nd Peter 2 so Now regarding the other problem he said
50:33
If our biblical theology Should not come from other Christians in church history as he claims
50:40
Which actually blatantly contradicts the Bible itself because we do need pastors and teachers to teach us and to be preached to Amen, that's what the church is for Then he should also tell everyone to stop reading his own books and to take them all off the market
51:01
I mean do you see the contradiction there? You see what people this is the same thing that uh that Armenian guy
51:08
Dave Hunt did the same thing you shouldn't you don't need church history. You don't need that stuff And then he's using church history to do apologetics
51:16
It's just it's contradictory and it's unbiblical. Okay, so Heizer also teaches that Noah's flood was a local flood
51:25
Not a world global flood Which is partly an attempt to explain why the
51:31
Nephilim still appear after the flood, okay, because the Bible Shows that that Nephilim Giants were still there.
51:38
They were still killing the Giants and slaying them even after the flood So we have to deal with that But that's not the right way to deal with it
51:50
So this flies in the face of God's emphatic judgment of the entire earth, it's very clear
51:58
And if it was just a local flood then God's promise That never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood and never again
52:07
Shall there be a flood to destroy the earth? In Genesis 9 11 is rendered void and meaningless
52:14
Because there are still many local floods even in our own day Right like that doesn't make any sense.
52:20
Why would it be a local flood when there's still local floods today? Well, there's no difference there Or worse
52:27
God is that God actually broke his promise Every time a local flood kills everyone in the local area
52:34
Just like it happened according to them in that in that time. Okay, so that these views don't make sense
52:39
They don't add up. We have to test them logically and biblically. Amen It was a global flood and we will see
52:48
We will see if we Turn to go back to Genesis chapter 6.
52:57
We will see that very clearly As we get ready to To wrap up here
53:06
We'll finish off in Genesis chapter 6 and 7 so back to Genesis 6 chapter
53:21
I'm sorry yet Genesis chapter 6 starting in verse 17 For behold,
53:27
I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh all flesh
53:35
In which is the breath of life under heaven? everything every
53:43
Categorical universal no exception everything that is on the earth shall die
53:50
But I will establish my covenant with you and you shall come into the ark You Noah your sons your wife and your sons wives with you and of every living thing of all flesh
54:03
You shall bring forth two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you.
54:09
They shall be male and female Now jump skip over to Genesis 7 and Genesis 7 verse 20 to 23
54:22
It says the waters prevailed above the mountains covering them 15 cubits deep and all
54:28
Flesh died that moved upon the earth birds livestock beasts all
54:34
Swarming creatures that swarm on the earth on the earth the entire earth and all
54:41
Mankind All mankind everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died
54:50
Everything he blotted out wiped out blotted out Every living thing that was on the face of the ground
55:02
Man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth
55:10
Only Noah was left and those who were with him in the ark. I mean, I can't believe how explicit
55:16
How can you come away with a local flood? I? Can't believe how explicit this is a blatant contradiction to God's Word so God spared unequivocally emphatically
55:33
No one No corrupted flesh. No Nephilim at all in the worldwide flood and This is interesting to note that the emphasis in Genesis 7 13 through 14
55:48
That everything the ark must be according to its own kind You remember that?
55:55
It's got to be according to its own kind this also reinforces the view from the books of Enoch and of Jasher and of Jubilees and of Jude and 2nd
56:04
Peter that Where verse 13 says on the very same day?
56:12
Noah and his son Shem and Ham and Japheth and Noah's wife and three wives of the sons of His sons with them entered the ark they and every beast
56:20
According to its own kind its natural kind and all the livestock according to their kinds
56:28
And every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind and every bird according to its kind every winged creature
56:35
Notice the emphasis. It's according to its own natural kind not according to the unnatural corrupted hybrid perverted kind of the
56:47
Nephilim You'll see that That is why God wiped the earth from with with the global flood
56:58
That is precisely why he did that and it's we very and see when you have a bad hermeneutic
57:05
Like what Heizer does and he says well you have to interpret it in its own context. No you have to interpret it in light of Yes, the immediate context, but also the entire biblical context systematic and doctrinal context and also in light of the context of church history and of Pastors and teachers because that's what we need in order to learn and grow from and understand the
57:28
Word of God Amen so with that said You know
57:35
This is this is taking me longer than I anticipated There's just so much groundwork here to set up as you can tell
57:42
There's just a lot to cover and I didn't want to I didn't want to skip out on any of it So just be you'll just be patient with me
57:50
I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep going at this point Tim might step in Next but depending on what happens.
57:58
I am definitely planning to pick up from here because there's still a lot of issues that need to be addressed on the the devil and his angels, okay, so let's
58:11
