Two Men Kings of Israel Who Came Into Judgment — Svend Christensen

Thank you so much. Thankful to be back here safely again tonight. Thanks to our good brothers, Mr. Angus, Captain Camel. Gave us good transportation down to Orlando and back again. It was a real help.

Wonderful bay down there. Yesterday, Sunday school picnic that they had there yesterday was just one of these outstanding ones, and the Lord gave us the perfect day for it. Filling up more and more. Save the iron as wanted.

They were dealing with her, and she had a truant of salvation. So she and her mother went away very happily together after the meeting. So we thank the Lord for the encouragement. Jewish kings, as Judges pronounced them.

The Certainty of God’s Word and the One Way to Heaven

But I'll give you a little lead. Women involved with this particular one. It's all about this. Two kings in whom, when it was executed, exactly as God sent it to His, two different kings, both David and Ahab.

Now the certainty of the Word of God to be fulfilled. In the light, God said that he that believeth on the Son of Man, that's exactly what it means. He receives Him, the Lord Jesus, to them, He gives the authority to become the Son of God, that's exactly what it means.

He that believeth not is condemned already, and that's exactly what it means. Word is truth. When the Lord Jesus said, I give unto my sheep eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand, that's what He meant.

Nothing else. You can take God's Word, and that's the problem today, you see. So many people do not believe God's Word. We're looking a little bit tonight at the dark side of God's Word and His promises, because there's that side to it too.

Sin Cannot Be Hidden or Left Unpunished

All kinds of people like to believe in heaven. It means another. There's only one way to heaven. There's only one way to get there, and we've pointed that out for the week. There's only one, and that's the Lord Jesus.

Something else to do is be sure your sin will never be, or will never be unpunished. Sin will always be dealt with. I think you'll see that tonight. 2 Samuel, the second book of Samuel, and David stayed home, and as he was staying home, temptation was put before him.

Beautiful woman he took. Same lady said, Like all men, when they get in a corner, they'll find ways and means to try to get out of it. He conceded saying, I'll get her husband to get home, give him a leave, and let him get home and have a nice time at home with his wife.

David brought him home and could, nice home and all that, when he thought of men out there in the battle, I won't do it. No wonder he was mentioned among the mighty men of David. David couldn't do, couldn't cover it up like this.

He sent him back to the army, and he sent a letter with him to the captain, Joab. Joab put him right in the most dangerous spot. Right in there. He was killed in the battle. David would be his wife. Everything was covered up.

Nathan Exposes David’s Sin

Now let's read. 1 Samuel chapter 12, or 2 Samuel 12. The Lord sent Nathan unto David. Nathan was the prophet of God. And he came unto him and said unto him, There were two men in one city, the one rich and the other poor.

The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds. For the poor man had nothing save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up, and it grew up together with him and with his children, and he did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.

And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his flock, of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man's lamb and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

And David's anger was great. He kindled against the man, and he sent an agent, and asked the Lord, David, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die, and he shall restore the lamb for Paul. You notice that?

Here's a man pronouncing his own judgment. He doesn't know it. For Paul, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thank God for bold servants, men that are teachers of men, men that will not stand up, and be counted, and be true to their convictions.

Nathan was. John the Baptist. He said to Herod, You've done wrong, Herod. That's a curse to stand up to a king, and that's a curse to stand up to little, six-year-old boys, that you've done wrong. To stand up to a king, to execute you.

In those days, they had complete power. He said to David, Israel, I anoint thee king, O Israel. I deliver thee out of the hand of Saul. I give thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives, and to thy boost, and I give thee the house of Israel, and of Judah.

If that have been too little, I will give unto thee such and such thing. Wherefore hast thou defied the commandment of the Lord to do evil in his eyes? Thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with a sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from thine house, because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord, behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbor.".

You remember that's your faith. Unto Absalom, he shall lie with her secretly, but I'll do this thing before all Israel and before the sun. And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. There is the wonderful redeeming part of David's care, if you like.

He told for him, he said, I have sinned. Remember when Abner was told about his sin, he got mad. When Herod was told about his sin and his wife, she got rid of John the Baptist, rather than get rid of the sin.

But David, when he was told, he said, he's a man after my own heart. And there's one thing, and you know Psalm 51 of his confession. He said unto David, The Lord hath also put away thy sin, and thou shalt not die, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme.

And the child that is born unto thee shall surely die. Now, here you have David. He committed the terrible sin of adultery and murder. Sin shall not pass. Now, David was a believer. Believer and unbeliever, whatever sin he's going to have to, that sin is going to be dealt with in a different way, of course.

God Sees Every Thought and Action

But sin will always be dealt with in the universe. We can sin and get away with it. From all, we cover up. Everything is naked and open to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Thou, God, seest me.

My friend, the night God sees you, and He sees me, true is truth. Your thoughts are all known. You read sometime at your leash, Psalm 139. He ever speak your words, He knows the words you're going to speak.

He knows your thoughts are far off. He knows you're down-sitting. He knows you're up-minded. He knows everything about you. There's nothing hid from Him. So, we see in this lesson that God is happy for everything we undo.

The Fulfillment of David’s Judgment

So, repentance. If a man has done this thing, he's going to restore it for all. All right, let's just see how God's word was fulfilled. Verse 14, the last part, Also that is born unto thee shall David pass.

He came to pass on the seventh day. There's an explanation to it. Sometimes people ask you, Well, what about a baby that died that has not been baptized, or christened, and so on? There's a little ill-tid of a child.

Died. But David said, after he heard of it, then he stopped showing. He got up, he washed himself, and he ate his food, and he said, I can't bring it back, but I can go to be with that child. And I know David's going to go to be with the Lord.

That's the first. Now, number two in the fulfillment of these, turns me to chapter 13. Chapter 13, verse 28 and 29. He committed this awful sin, this godless sin, speaking about in public, decreeing these things.

And this boy, he disgraced his half-sister. Beautiful girl. Purity. Verse 28 of chapter 13, has commanded his seventh day, Mark ye now with Ammon, partners Mary, with wine. Aaron, I say unto you, smite Ammon.

Then kill him. Fear not. Have not I commanded you to be courageous and be valiant? The servants of Absalom did unto Ammon, as Absalom had commanded, to get him up upon his bule and set. Number two, Pilate David.

Turn this thing here, restore fourfold. Let's turn now to chapter 18. The setting here, of course, is Absalom is risen up. The multitudes of Israel. And he got it. He did that day openly before the sun.

That maiden said, the sun, or it will kill him. He had a great big head of hair. He was riding on his bule. He got caught in this great big tree by his hand. He was hanging there. Men came and they told Job, chapter 18.

And the man said unto Joab, and after he had told him, Job said he would have given him ten shekels of silver and a girdle if he would have killed him. Though I received a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, yet would I not put my hand against the king's son.

For in our hearing the king charged thee and this ye are, and this ye are, saying, Beware that none touch the young man after him, otherwise I should have lot faltered against mine own life. For there's no man ahead from the king, and thou thyself wouldst have set thyself against me.

Then said Joab, I may not say that would be. And he took three thousand in his hand and crushed them through the heart of Absalom while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak. Number three. On this sin he's going to pay for four.

Sin Blinds the Wise and Intelligent

You know the amazing thing with David? Such a wise man. If you notice right here that nothing was hid from him. He's like an angel of God that said, in one thing, he knows everything. You remember the time that Joab sent a woman to him in order to bring Absalom back?

And David saw through the whole thing. He said, Isn't it Joab that sent you? And she said, By nothing is hid from you. And here is a wise man like David. He thinks he can get away with sin. Sin is blind.

Sin is a blinding thing. It blinds the most intelligent. There are so many intelligent people that are blinded by their sin, and they're on their way to hell. They're lost. Niger, the younger son of Absalom, the cold.

God has said, Solomon is going to reign. But he thought he would get it. But God, through David, said, No, it's Solomon. Solomon will crown king. And as Solomon was king, one of these young maids that had been waiting on David when he was old and cold and couldn't keep warm.

And he said, he came to Bathsheba and said, I just want to ask one favor and you can go to the king and he won't deny you. I want that girl to be my wife. And Solomon said, This is it. Why did I eat? Tell him in verse 25.

The wheels of God said, They climb slowly, for they climb sure. Dear one, tonight let's not make the mistake that we can get away with any kind of sin. Perfect books, nothing forgotten. He's the record of everything.

Ahab’s Theft of Naboth’s Vineyard

Everything is written down. We'll see that in a moment. I must hurry on. Now then, quickly, we'll just look a little bit at the illustration. First, kill them. It says to him, 42, Because thou hast let go of thy hand a man whom I have for thy life shall go for his life and thy people for his people.

Chapter 21, he goes up and he looks over Naboth to Naboth's vineyard. He covets it. He wants it. And he goes to Naboth for a coffee too. And Naboth says, No, it's not right. It's against the law for me to let you betray a vineyard.

It's not even for you to buy it. So he came home and as a spoiled boy he was pouting. He lay down with his head against the wall and he was pouting. And his wife, Jezebel, that's the other woman, told him to paint her feet.

What's the matter you have? He's laying there pouting. I want Naboth's vineyard and he won't let me have it. You know, just like a spoiled child. I'll get it for you. So she sat down and she framed some witnesses who made a great speech for down there where Naboth could be very important.

And then she framed and then two fellows put things in his mouth that he had never said. Witnesses against him. And right there they stoned him to death. They said, Go back. It's all done. She said, Now go down and protest your vineyard.

And after he was strolling down there looking at all this lovely protest that he'd just come into, it's right in the scene. He's sent by the Lord. Elijah the despised man lies down to meet Ahab. If there was any man Ahab didn't want to meet, it was Elijah.

Elijah Pronounces Judgment on Ahab

But I tell you my friend, you'll all come face to face with your sin. Speak unto him, verse 19, that thou hast killed and also taken possession, and thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thou sent the Lord.

It was Jezebel that maneuvered all this, but this man is held responsible. The head of the house is all held responsible. He says, In the place where the dog slipped the block of Naphod, shall the dog lift up thy block, even thine.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Ask how found me, O mine enemy? And the answer, I have found thee. And I tell you, God always finds us in it. In the coming day, if you don't get saved in this life, dear friend, there'll be no place to hide.

From the hills to the rocks to fall on them. From this, there'll be no place to hide. I found thee because thou sold thyself to work evil in, this was his sin. There was his judgment pronounced. Now, I want you to see the fulfillment of his judgment.

Chapter 22, he goes out to battle with the king of Judah. I've been told by the true prophet of God, my Ki, that he wouldn't come home. To the foolmen, he says, now, I won't go on a king. I'll take off my kingly robes.

You can wear yours. I'm a king. They'll never discover me, you see. Hide out. And the Lord delivered that glory man. It's a wonder he didn't, he almost got killed. For some foot in it, then, Jesu was born, and he let that arrow fly, and it hit, he had right to get this man.

Up in Canada, they say, the Mounties, they always get their man. But they don't. Well, I tell you, God does. So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the king in Samaria. Now, listen to these words that was told to him by Elijah.

And one washed and tarried in the pool of Samaria, and the door licked of his blood. And they washed his armor according to the word of the Lord which he spake. Then, shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

Jezebel’s Judgment Is Fulfilled

Shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Now, turn to 2 Kings, chapter 9, as it is. He came to Jezebel, Jezebel of Philip, in verse 30, and she painted her face and tied her hair, and looked out of the window.

And as Jesu entered in, at the gate, he said, at Zenyip, who is Louis' master, he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? Who? And they looked up to him, two or three eunuchs, and he said, Throw her down.

So they threw her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses, and he tore her on the foot. And when he came in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go see now this cursed woman, and bury her, for she is a king's daughter.

And they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. Wherefore they came again and told him, and he said, This is the word of the Lord which he spake for his servant Elijah that said, By day, in the portion of Jethreel, shall dogs eat.

God’s Judgment and Christ’s Atoning Sacrifice

The flesh is God's work, how actually it is fulfilled, from the king of Judah. It's going to be dealt with. Two things to your amendment, and I want you to read this tonight. It says in 2nd chapter 2, that God spared not the angels that sinned.

They lived in chains now, darkness, for that day. God spared not the whole world that sinned, and sin had to be dealt with. God spared not the cities of the plain and the days of Lot destroyed with fire and brimstone.

God spared not Israel as the natural climax, also in Romans. God spared not his own son. For Jesus hung on Calvary's cross for you and for me, bearing our sins in his own body and the drink. All the floodgates of God's wrath was opened up, and it was poured out upon him without mixture.

Without mixture he drank that cup to his bitter grave. Your sin and my sin was laid upon his holy son, and he bared all sins in his own body and the drink. God dealt with him, for you have sinned, and my sin.

You have made a curse for us. Ye see, the holy one that knew no sin was made sin for us. He poured all hell. He cried out, I think, in deep mire where there is no standing. My God, my God, why art thou forsaken me?

For you and for me that we might never, isn't it wonderful to have a son, even though we are guilty, even though we are sinners, even though we deserve to be banished from God. We have found the ransom.

The ransom is that we reject the truth. No one can reject or neglect such good news. The suffering, the consequences, that is all illustrated in the word of God. In Revelation chapter 20, purity, holiness, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Father committed all judgment to the Son.

He had appointed a day and this is the day that he will judge men. He had a great white throne. All the uns became accountable. Not a thing left out of the dead which were in no question of and entered at all.

Everyone will be dealt with individually. There's no judgment of them that I think I see there. He there, he took my place. Tonight I go free. Although I was a guilty and a hell sent and a hell found and a hell deserving.

He took all. He had given to me the righteousness, that hope of righteousness, that victory for the presence of a holy God. He had blotted out my sins as far as East as from the West. He said I'll remember them no more.

The Call to Repentance and Salvation Through Jesus

For the Christian, he knew the blood of Jesus Christ. Nothing else can take away death. What can wash away my sins? With it tonight. Get settled tonight. Get right with God tonight. Come to the Lord Jesus.

Lord, I'm a sinner. Save me from my sins. Come into my life and make me a new, a new girl. I want to be a Christian tonight. Lord, come into my life. And the moment you really institute that from your heart, God said in all your sins, turn to that 3212 by the leaves and sing the last two stanzas.

And we're going to pray as we sing that maybe there's someone here tonight and you're not saved because you're not like the thief. You know, it would be a wonderful thing tonight if you would just openly come right up and say I want to receive.

Just come right up to the front. I'll come right there and meet you. Say I want to propagate. Lord, it would be a real joy and peace in believing and taking an open stand like that. Two stanzas of 226.

Come inside, please. Come to that last verse. Just as I have, I will be completely come openly tonight. That's that. The back of the door tells you that the purpose of these meetings is that you might be saved.

God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come. He really loves you. It's a friend who warns you of the danger. You can't get away with your sin. Jesus wants to save you from your sin.

That's why his name was called Jesus. Save the people from their sin. It's his bound prayer. Oh, Father, we pray that our Jews die. Maybe there's someone here tonight that will speak to thee and to thine.

Sovereign grace. Lord, tonight be with me. Precious name.
