God's Promises in the Battle Against Sin

God is love, and therefore he makes stars of promise to shine over each of our lives. Beneath the light of these stars of promise, we can go our way in strength and confidence. This holds true not only when there are great decisions to be made concerning our earthly life, but especially with regards to our battle against sin.

Christ's Freedom and the Destruction of the Devil's Works

How overwhelming it is that the Lord gives us promises like, If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. John 8, 36. Or, in the first letter of John, chapter 3, The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

Standing on Christ's Complete Redemption

What a joy it is when we can already begin to sing songs of victory over our sins and bondages, and over the sins of other people. Songs like this. We may complain that we're bound, and that we can't become free from certain bondages, even though we pray that the Lord make us free.

However, if we don't seriously expect God to make us free, he won't make us free. Jesus died for our redemption. His sacrifice is complete. Therefore, it's up to us to stand upon the promise of his complete redemption.

Blumhart's Persistent Prayer for the Bound

Pastor Blumhart was a German minister who prayed for many, many bound souls. We know from his life story that if he had not persistently called upon the name of Jesus in faith, those souls would have remained bound to Satan.

Writing Down God's Promises in Temptation

We often come into situations when the temptations are so great that we say, I can hardly pray. But there's one thing we could do. We could write down the promises the Lord has given us in his word. For example, Jesus is Victor.

Proclaiming Jesus' Victory Over the Enemy

He's broken the power of the enemy. In times when it's hard to believe anymore, we should read aloud what we have written. Whenever we praise the name of Jesus, Satan will hear and tremble. I've often experienced the tremendous power which lies in speaking aloud Bible words, the promises of victory.

Persevering in Faith Through Christ's Promises

Yes, Jesus is Victor. He is the mighty Redeemer. If we don't become tired in this battle of faith, even if it takes a long time, we can be certain Jesus will keep every one of his promises. For in Jesus, all of God's promises are yea and amen.
