1 John 3 says, See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God.

And doesn't God love everyone? So everyone is a child of God. After all, the Bible says all people are made in God's image.

So all are God's children, right? No. Not every person is a child of God. That verse is for Christians.

And it goes on to say the reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. John 1 12 says all who believe in Jesus, He gave the right to become children of God.

Only a Christian is a child of God. Whoever is not a Christian is a child of Satan. Jesus said in John 8,

1 John 3 10 says, By this it is evident who are the children of God and who are the children of the devil.

By His blood we're adopted into a new family, with God as our father. Romans 8 15 says,

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. And if children, then fellow heirs with Christ, when we understand the text.
