וַיֵּצֵא מֹשֶׁה מִמִּצְרַיִם וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל־אֶרֶץ מִדְיָן וַיֵּשֶׁב שָׁם עִם־יִתְרוֹ כֹהֵן מִדְיָן וַיִּקַּח־לוֹ אִשָּׁה מִבְּנוֹת יִתְרוֹ׃ וּמֹשֶׁה הָיָה רֹעֶה אֶת־צֹאן יִתְרוֹ וַיָּבֹא אֶל־הַר הָאֱלֹהִים׃ וַיַּרְא שָׁם אֶת־מַלְאַךְ יהוה בָּאֵשׁ׃ וַיִּקְרָא אֵלָיו אֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי׃ וַיֹּאמֶר אָנֹכִי אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךָ אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב׃ שׁוּב אֶל־מִצְרַיִם כִּי שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת־קוֹל עַמִּי׃ וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֵלָיו יהוה וַיִּשָּׂא אֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת־בָּנָיו עַל־הַחֲמֹרִים וַיִּקַּח אֶת־מַטֵּה הָאֱלֹהִים בְּיָדוֹ וַיָּשָׁב אֶל־אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם׃
