The Sevenfold Headship of Jesus Christ

This cassette contains the message on the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Lord's Servant, Brother Bhagat Singh, delivered during the special meetings held at Hebron, Hyderabad on the evening of 12th June 1966.

From the verse 18, now second passage, 1st to the 11th chapter, verses 1 to 3, behold, Ephesians 5, Ephesians 5, verse 23 and 24, now Colossians 1, Colossians 1, verses 18 and 19, now Colossians 2, verses 9 and 10, Acts 4, Acts 4, verses 11 and 12, Acts 4, Ephesians 4, Ephesians 4, from the verse 14, Acts 4, Ephesians 4 and verse 14, that we henceforth be no more children, tasked to and fro, and cared about with every wine of doctrine, but flight of men, and cunning craftiness whereby the lion will receive.

Henceforth be no more children. Very sad to say that many believers remain babies, infants, children spiritually for many many years. That's why they are received by wrong doctrine, by every kind of evil influence.

They lose their joy very easily. They begin to worry very easily. They seem to be full of many fears. Very easily they are offended. Later on they get offended so quickly. And they remain very very childish in their behavior among themselves.

They have no hunger for the strong meat. If they are given strong, they cannot digest it. They are far happy in childish things like play. That's why it is given burden, the apostle is saying these words.

Henceforth be no more children. Tasked to and fro, cared about with every wine of doctrine. They are very easy to be influenced by anybody who comes along with them and they can easily change their mind.

We read together these seven passages from God's word. And you notice perhaps one common subject in all these seven passages. The subject is the headship of Lord Jesus Christ. Or we can say the sevenfold headship of Lord Jesus Christ.

If we really know the fuller meaning of the headship, of Lord Jesus Christ, the experience as revealed in the scripture portion, we can be saved from nine dangers. And we can become strong spiritually.

We understand God's full purpose in saving us. That's why we are here together for your own guidance. And you maintain yourself upon these seven passages, you find also many many other mysteries coming up.

It is not possible to get all the messages in these few moments. But I do pray all of us to understand the privilege of being kept under the lordship, headship of Lord Jesus Christ. See in many cases, he remains only the saviour.

Do not become the lord of the life. When you have two years of struggle, I can testify, he became my lord. He became my saviour in December 1929. And he changed my life completely. He made me get hung up on the world.

He delivered me completely from many worldly vices and worldly ploys. But he became my lord only two years later. As I read the Bible again and again, I became conscious of my own emptiness and weakness spiritually.

I felt God is much more for me than what I had at that time. I went on praying. Went on praying for number of days, number of weeks, number of months. Lord give me the secret of my power. I had many many ideas.

Longing for something which will satisfy me. Thank God it will satisfy me. And I prayed one night in the month of April 1932. And somebody came near me and spoke to me. And said to me, tell me how are your sins forgiven.

I replied, Lord I believe I was a giddier sinner living and your blood was shed for my sins. And you forgave my sins. Then Lord said to me, Now you believe you are the weakest person living and you have my power.

And like a flash I got the idea that I had to depend upon the Lord even for the smallest thing. And I thought how small the ministry I should go to my Lord and claim His strength and power and wisdom.

And that day He became my Lord. And I gave Him complete charge of my life. And I could say very truthfully Lord nothing is my own. My time, my money, my energy is all for Thee. I promise Thee. I won't take even a single step without Thy approval.

However small the matter may be I will come to Thee and console Thee and wait for Thy answer. And sometimes it is very painful to wait so long. But it is well worth it. So we do pray Lord may help us all to be brought and kept under the Lordship completely not only half-heartedly but fully.

And in these seven passages you find that sevenfold secret of the sevenfold headship of Lord Jesus Christ. If we interpret one stage verse 22 I have to put all things under His feet and give Him to be the head over all things.

If we read verse 22 I have to put all things under His feet and give Him to be the head over all things. He is the head over all things. I notice why the apostle is saying that. You find all helpful when you read any verse in the Bible.

Read the verse before and afterwards. That is the simplest way to get the fuller meaning of that verse. Now if you see here the apostle that went forward. And you find that very helpful. Say that we are here verse 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of His calling which is of the glory of Jesus Christ.

And what is the exceeding greater response of belief from the mighty power which He wrought with Christ when He was from the dead and standing with His right hand in holy places. In every name that is named not only in this world but also there is God.

Now that fragment is chapter 2 and verse 1 and you is a part of chapter 1. Sometimes on the division you don't know the connection. So the first one or second chapter really is a part of the first chapter.

The apostle is trying to point out and even though the eyes have been opened and they have understood we are salvation and He is very thankful to God the way He has blessed them. But He said I am praying for you.

He will understand the hope of your calling which is of the glory of an inheritance in the saints and also He is praying to understand what kind of power has been poured in them. He is praying for these three things.

He will understand the hope of His calling the glory of an inheritance and the exceeding power which is given them. And He is saying in the same power which He wrought in Christ when He raised from the dead and set Him on right hands full of the power of prosperity and power and modern dominion and you that is why comes in the second chapter and the first one comes and you so that verse 20 says which He wrought in Christ wrought in Christ and in you and it is a very important word now many of us are only satisfied just by getting our sins forgiven and receiving from our Lord some blessing upon the earth we are very happy if our requests are granted we are also very happy and we live in peace upon the earth but partially we are much more than that to receive and for us to understand clearly what is the hope of His calling why are you called by Him and what is the glory of His hat in the saints we have to take our share in all that our Lord has in heaven just as upon the earth you claim your share of your father's property may be land or building or cash or field claim your full share in heaven and for that purpose you need the power of resurrection and the power might of Lord rose again and ascended to heaven and was exalted far above all powers, principalities, might and dominions and far above everything in heaven.

Imagine that power might of Lord has been so highly exalted far above and we sing after Him far above but only sing in hebrew but you don't enjoy that experience. It is a wonderful message. You heard He has the very same power in love as you dispose of.

Don't be defeated don't live a life of defeat and barrenness. You say the very same power is yours. But He says knowledge in verse 22 you have to put all things under His feet gave Him to be head over all things.

If we really want to enjoy the wonderful power of resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ you got to acknowledge His headship over all things. He is our creator. All things were made by Him. Have you seen Him.

Christ as Creator and Sustainer of All Things

John Gospel and chapter 1. Seen John Gospel and chapter 1 seen John Gospel and chapter 1. All things were made by Him without Him. Nothing made that was made. All things were made by Him by His one word.

And you got to believe in that He is our creator. And all things were made by Him. And similarly all things are held by Him. Held captive. Hebrews chapter 1. He not only did create but also now holding Him in power.

Hebrews chapter 1 and verse 2 and 3. And Lord Jesus spoken to us by His son whom He had appointed head over all things. Who being the brightness of the glory and the extraordinary person held up holding all things by the word of power when He had by Himself sat down right head by the height.

He made the world. He made the world now also He is upholding by everything. Similarly by the one word all things will disappear that is chapter 1. Hebrews chapter 1 and verse 11. They shall perish but thou remainest.

They all shall be sold to the government as a vesture. Shall thou fold them up just as you take off a dirty cloth and throw it away somewhere in the God verses in the same manner all what you see will be folded and thrown away by Lord Jesus.

Then He will bring the new creation. So He said you got to believe that from the heart. You want the same power of the largest eyes to come into you then believe by faith. He is the head over all things above anywhere.

He is the creator and He is the governor to also command them to disappear. And that is how many of the scholars these days want to bring the doubt about the beginning of the world and creation. May say the world was not created as mentioned in the book of Genesis.

They say it took many many centuries before the earth became cold and then things began to happen. Now they believe slowly the man came from the monkeys and that is how they create doubt in the minds of that was the voice to weaken their faith.

But God was so clear to us our Lord has made all the world by one word all things were created. He said it was so. Now He is in charge of the whole universe. Everything is being held by the place by our Lord.

All these stars and the planet we will see. He also by one word will make them disappear now. Such a faith will also enable you to appropriate into you the power of direction. Because the power which our Lord did manifest to create the world is not so much as the power which He manifested to save us.

Because He said it was so. He said there will be light. There will be light. There will be light without sun moon. Light came same way when He said the earth to bring forth without tilling without sowing.

The earth began to yield everything. He said it it came out. He said it it came out. But now through the remaster he had to humble himself and come to the base. And that suffered and died. He died. That is a sin.

The power which He manifested to redeem us is far greater than the power which He manifested to kill the whole universe. That means to say that we are unto our Lord much more precious than all the other stars.

They will pass away. God will pass away even though they look so big and so grand. But the eyes of God they have not got eternal value. We are unto Him much more precious. And that is why He is willing to give us that power.

Also the power of revolution by which He rose again and had been highly exalted far above. And He wants us to have the power. We also may be highly exalted and be with Him very here. And that is why we have to claim that power every day by faith whatever may be our burden and our need go by faith.

Now since you have pursued me by special blood of you in my hand I have got it that way. You are the head of all things driving myself on the healthy path. Now will you kindly give me the power of reduction for the following needs.

Christ's Headship and Divine Order in the Family

That is first thing. Secondly please first question. Eleventh chapter verse three. First to the eleventh verse three I would have you know head of every man is Christ. Head of the woman is second thing to remember.

Head of every man is Christ. Head of the woman is the man. Head of Christ is God. That means you got to keep divine order of headship in your family in your home in a practical way. First of all we have to acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the family.

Now I find that text in many homes only on the wall. Yes child is the head of this house unseen guest at every meal. He does not listen to any conversation. What is not true. In practice wife is the head of the family not Lord Jesus Christ.

Only on the wall. You stay with the family for a few days or a few months. Some homes children come the head. Mother is far too weak. And when children say head to be down because they have someone nice and clever and good and attractive they can do everything.

When mother. Father comes home children can command him in Delhi. But mother cannot get. No mother may say father give me 10 rupees. Give me 10 rupees. I don't have anything. Daughter says give me 10 rupees.

I don't have anything. Daughter says give me 15 rupees. Take it. They govern my children not Lord Jesus Christ. You got to maintain divine order in the family. But very sad to say we don't find the divine order in many families.

I am not talking about the unbelievers. I am talking about the believers. Where are. The husband doesn't take his proper place. Scripturally God is so clear when husband is the head of the family we have to know where the Lord is the head of the family.

So the headship is maintained by love not by force. My Lord also won't compel me to come under him. I have to state him not willingly. I bring myself under Lordship and Kingship. Divine order should be maintained in every family.

Wife does with husband and full subjection with love and humility. For the same reason women are told to cover their head and sleep as it is. I was forced here every man praying at a proper time having his head covered surrounded with head.

For every woman that prays at a proper size head uncovered surrounded with her head. For that even all women have to be shaved. So when we men uncovered our head in a meeting we acknowledge that our Lord is our head.

In some countries when they see their king pass by they take off their hat. That's how they salute him. You find everybody giving honor that way. Ladies bow to that way. Only men by taking their hat off they honor their king or their president.

In India they may do this way or bow down. But the thought is we do honor those who are our head. So when we uncover our head in a meeting we acknowledge we don't go to any man's place. We are going in the praise of God.

Lord is with you. We honor him. That's why ladies by covering men by uncovering they honor him. When we come inside the meeting with head covered all will be the same. Why did he come with the hat on.

But many people will find it there. Ladies won't cover their head. They become so happy so proud so indifferent so blind. Recently we had a marriage in Andhra. It was more than 10 minutes. They were so proud.

They put a shame to cover their head and you got to regard a privilege to honor your savior. Similarly same when you go home let the man also take his place. But many cases wife isn't talking. Husband is sleeping husband only sleeping.

Same is finance. The whole finance is in hand of the wife and there is no harm in keeping money with the wife. But when you have to beg also money there are unscriptural. Yes so many husbands they bring all their salary to the wife and they say that is the best way to keep peace.

That is the best way to keep order and nobody. But supposing the husband gives back some money. The wife finds out she starts filling the pocket out. How do we get the money. How do we keep that back out.

She doesn't have the whole thing. Then it creates disorder again. It is not God's order. The wife can keep the money in lock and key but they can't control it. They are not made the finance minister. They already keep on their own.

You find many home order is changed. Usually when wife is happy then husband can buy a shirt or a trouser. But when she wants something she buys it. It is not God's order. Look it that way. If you want the power Lord Jesus Christ then please recognize the headship Lord Jesus Christ.

So we say Lord is the head of the family. Same way the husband is the head of the family and wife and children must respect him obey him and be the subjection. And when they disagree on any matter they can pray together and find God.

But the order can't be changed. And whenever the order has been changed you find a stifle in the family and jealousy and quarrel all the time. And the money is spent. And many home even they have plenty of money but it is being misspent.

But Halban Singh wife has got a better brain than they have got. They have got a better brain to buy tomatoes and vegetables. You can give them that money for that purpose. You go and buy mutton and onion and tomato.

You can set up for that portion. But for the house and other bills you are responsible. You be a man and remain a man. Don't be so coward and remain like a henpecked husband. And that's where you find many home disorders.

Christ's Headship Over the Local Church

Children become unruly after birth. God's word is true. Thirdly please Ephesians chapter 5 verse 23. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church he is the savior of the body.

That is the third headship of Lord Jesus Christ. He is the head of the local assembly local church. Just as the wife has to keep her service subjection to her husband and obey him in all things is the Lord same way for the healthy living church or family we as elders must keep ourselves in our Lord's subjection rather than governing the God people we have to be in our Lord's subjection.

I will say it in 1 Peter 2nd chapter 5 from the verse 2 and 3 read the flock of God which is among you taking you over side and off not by constrain but willingly until you come at His mind. Neither has there been loss of God's heritage being a supplement of the flock.

So the elders have to be under the lordship of Lord Jesus Christ. All these church matters and the monastery and activities must be planned and decided by praying together and finding the Lord's will.

We have become very busy in our responsibilities. We haven't got enough time to pray and find God's plan for the weekly ministry and other ministry. So without finding God's plan many begin to make plan for the ministry and service.

And that's why you find in many assemblies many churches barrenness these days. But in lordship of Lord Jesus we do not acknowledge. We are not only want to rule and govern people and without praying together they go on making plan and how can they be blessing others.

So we believe from the heart Lord Jesus is the head. So we must bow to him and come to him for our weekly ministry and other ministry. So in a practical way the headship of Lord Jesus Christ in his church life.

Then there will be oneness and unity and love and sympathy and fellowship. After that there will be strife and partiality and parties now 54th leaf Colossians chapter 1 and verse 18. And he is the head of the body in the church who is the beginning in all things he might have the preeminence to be the father in him should all look good and well not only he is the head of the local church also he is the head of the church Lord Jesus church universal.

He is one head. And we have to preserve the oneness in the body Lord Jesus Christ. And there can't be any schism any division in the body Lord Jesus Christ. Now we find in all part of the world some names.

They are divided see devil has used three big weapons to divide God's people sometime with the weapon of the name. See first Christian and chapter 1 chapter 1 first Christian and verse 13. It is quite important.

Was Paul specified for you or was he baptized in the name of Paul. See they were divided because of the name. Some ordinarily be called by the name of Paul or Apollo or Cephas or Christ and so on. Similarly some were divided through the doctrine or the circumcision or the doctrine.

And see also in Galatians and chapter 6 and verse 15 for the Christ these are the circumcision with anything non-circumcision but a new creature. So many were divided through doctrine and teaching. Other were divided because of the community or caste.

See Galatians and chapter 7 and verse 28. Neither Jew nor Greek nor bond nor free may not be made all of our careers. So we have to maintain the oneness in the bodily style. So anyway settle where the enemy comes in.

So some were divided because of the name. Now there are more than 700 names among the Christians in my part of the world and also among the believers they can be divided for the caste and the creed and the wealth and the position and education like Madiga and Bala or Komti and Reddy or White and Black or Jew or Gentile Andhra, Tamilian North or South Andhra, Tamil and even higher.

There are so many names and he loves all equally. And we have to maintain that one day we have to go refuse to be identified with any activity of any kind. It is a cultural division among our people. So by the oneness and unity we have the power all your style.

So then we come on to the head we have about the believers. How can we regard ourselves as enemies superior to other people. So that the fourth has yet to be maintained. And with every attempt every effort to eliminate these causes of division and names and tables.

Christ's Headship Over Principalities and Powers

So we simply please and we are complete in him who is the head of all the society and power. That is fifth headship of Lord Yeshua head of all prosperity and power. And we are complete in him. As you are reminded again before worship time the Lord himself is our righteousness.

It is not our Bible knowledge not our what we do and say that will be correct. But again again in a subtle way we begin to take pride in our own knowledge even though you may know the whole of the Bible by heart that has no proof we are righteous.

Similarly you may do much for God day and night and we sanctify this man is very righteous very holy because he is living a simple life sleeping upon the floor eating nothing. But none of these things can make us righteous.

We are complete in him. So make us righteous. Our Lord has to confound and defeat and put to shame all the heavenly power. No power can condemn us all the power put to shame. It was in the same chapter like the second chapter verse 15 having spirituality and power he made a show of triumph in the whole world.

And thus whatever you may do for Lord Jesus Christ and whatever time you may spend in prayer and service how much money this man got we can never regard that as righteousness. Lord himself the living person in my heart we are complete in him who is the head of all the principality and power and that's why whenever we commit anything wrong we are forgiven straight away we become restless because first you are saying you are forgiven and our Lord will remain in our righteousness they are complete so we are righteous in him himself is my fullness and I long to know him more and more as you begin to glory in that righteousness you become more righteous and whatever you do thank God for the grace given you to do it that's first question first time for the grace of God I am what I am grace was bestowed upon me and when I labored more abundantly than they all yet not I for the grace of God it was me that was bestowed upon me and I have that was bestowed upon me but I have labored more than and I have not lost of God that was bestowed.

We don't do anything we depend on him why then take pride in whatever you are doing for him that won't make you righteous. The minority itself is my righteousness thanks to him I can rebuke and confound all the power of darkness.

Because you power of darkness, you try to bring it down in your mind. God has not yet forgiven you. He is still punishing you. He doesn't love you. He will never use you. All these thoughts of self-condemnation make you miserable.

He is my Lord and my Master. Shall we ignore him then? He will overcome all the remedy versions. I will simply please. X is Apostle. X is Apostle 4. X is Apostle 11. X is Apostle 11. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders.

It has become the head of the corner. Now this is the head of the corner. Now the whole building has to be governed by that. Now those who are building the stone building, first of all they prepare out of the corner stone.

Then the shape of the other stone is governed by the corner stone. So after much calculation, they find out the dimension of the corner stone. That's been a long time already. The other stone has to be crafted.

You have to reject the Lord yourself. He has become the head of the corner building. To build the two churches. Now, when you come in heavenly plan, to build the Church of God, then you receive God's power.

You are chosen by God the purpose. To build that heavenly found building. If you read the 2nd chapter, from the verse 20, Our build upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself, the chief corner stone, in whom are the buildings, it leaves him together, grace and holy temple in the Lord.

In whom are the buildings together, for the happiness of the spirit. If I have come under his headship, as the chief corner stone, I will know exactly my place in the heavenly building. I have to stay.

Because my position in the world, is to be governed by the corner stone. Now, I cannot make any choice. The corner stone is to govern my position in the building. And that means, I must find out, with prayer, my part and my position, in the heavenly church.

And the active member, in the building of these churches, what do you say? But many believers, they only want good sermons. They have no desire whatsoever, to get initiated, in the building of the Lord.

They are very very happy with good sermons, good singing, good people. And also good food. But they will never make any attempt, any effort to find out, what God has wanted in the house of God. Just come and go.

And that's why they remain balanced. We will take your foolish here, right here, in the building, house of God. Let me simply repeat. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him, in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

Head very thick. Just as the body has to be governed, completely by the head, from he is the head. In that sense, just as every member of the human body, has to be completely controlled, by the head. All the bones, and the muscles, and the tissues, and the ligaments, and the nerves, and the fibres, and the glands, organs, there can be health in the body.

Just as human beings are here, we are the believers, obeying such a headship. Only then they will be in life, and love, and unity. The outward union, can never bring unity. Just as they tried to bring a church from South India, or North India, or another India.

That is not a real union. Only an outward union. Among themselves, full of jealousy, full of strife, full of sorrow, full of shame. But when they believe, obeying that one head, then there will be oneness, and cooperation with our life.

Whenever we go away from here, where will you find the believers willing to pray with you, and become one mind, they will be blessing also. For those of you who want this seminar in India, because of pride, they remain separated.

Because the whole body needs to be fitly joined together, and compacted, every once in a while. Then you come under that ship. Because he is defending him again. He is defending him again. He is first Christian, and chapter 14.

And come mature spiritually. I shall be praying. Oh Lord, keep us from falling in endless borders, parents of the glory and sinning join, to the only holy of Australia. The Lord will be glorified both now and evermore.
