LIBERALISM
In this episode of TRUEOLOGY, we trace the tangled roots of modern liberalism—from the radical social engineering of Margaret Sanger and the ideological poison of 20th-century communism, to the moral and cultural decay shaping today’s West. We explore how these movements, under the banner of “progress,” dismantled moral order, eroded the family, and replaced truth with personal autonomy.
Yet, amidst the cultural collapse, there remains a foundation that has not been destroyed—the Western heritage built on biblical truth. This episode reminds us that our civilization’s strength was never in political power or cultural dominance, but in the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ.
Join us as we uncover how the West got here, why liberalism continues to shape the modern mind, and how the church can respond—not with despair, but with confidence, conviction, and hope in the kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Welcome to Trueology, where we study Christian theology, philosophy, and apologetics.
We do critiques on scholars, politics. We look into events in both classical and modern -day issues.
We do interviews, debates, and much more. Our goal is providing a Christian resource to edify the saints and to engage the community.
But most of all, we want to glorify the Lord through our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.
So, stay with us as we open up the Word of God and look into everything pertaining to life and godliness.
My name is Belushi Prevalon, coming to you from the Boston area. And right now, you are listening to Trueology, the study of the truth, as it is in Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, as we look around at the devastation in our culture today, the LGBTQ revolution, the transgender delusion, socialism, feminism, the hatred for Western values, we must not pretend that this is simply random.
It did not just happen overnight. This is the fruit of the seeds sown long ago by men and women who consciously rejected
God and by a society that allowed Satan's lies to be dressed up as mere political programs, cultural revolutions, and social progress.
In this first part of our discussion today, I want to lay out what happened and how we got here.
You know, why it persists and how the Word of God really explains the root cause of it. And then, by God's grace, of course, we will see the solution, which is essentially
Christ's reign embraced in every sphere. The restoration of the Anglo -Protestant culture that shaped
America and the recovery of the Christian identity for our people. Let's begin with the historical foundations for the liberal corruption that we actually see today.
So, we need to go back because, you see, we can't fight an enemy that we don't understand. Let's first consider
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger was not the hero for women's rights that the left constantly wants us to believe.
She was a racial eugenicist, and this was evidently so because she openly declared that her goal was to exterminate those she considered undesirable populations.
In 1921, she founded the American Birth Control League, which later became
Planned Parenthood. She once said, we do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the
Negro population. Her thinking was steeped in Darwinism and progressivism, and her obsession with controlling reproduction laid the foundation for abortion on demand, the very thing that we see today.
You see, today's abortion industry, the slaughtering of millions of children, and disproportionately black children, stands as a monument for her godless rebellion against the one true religion,
Christianity. Second, let's consider the Marxist influence of the early 20th century. Karl Marx himself, in the
Communist Manifesto written in the 1800s, declared that the abolition of religion and the family were necessary steps to liberate man.
I mean, does that sound familiar? I mean, that sounds like the modern Democratic Party. But no, this was in the 1800s.
His disciples carried this torch into the universities, into Europe, and in America. The Frankfurt School, founded in 1923, developed what we now call critical theory.
Their aim was very simple, dismantle Christian morality, undermine the family, and weaken cultural bonds that hold nations together.
Sounds like they've been pretty successful from what we've seen in the last 10 years. They infiltrated
American academia, and by the mid -century, their ideas of liberation from patriarchy, capitalism, and Christianity were essentially mainstream in universities.
Today's professors teaching gender theory, racial grievance politics, and the socialism of our day?
These are the godless intellectuals that were produced by Marxist ideology.
Third, and more approximate to us, is the modern Democratic Party itself. It has become the political arm of rebellion.
There is no denying this. What began as a political party tied to American labor has now transformed into the party of abortion, gay ideology, and I really do mean gay, socialism, but I repeat myself, and lawlessness.
Figures like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and now Kamala Harris, for a time, have pushed policies that destroyed the family, celebrate perversion, and erode national sovereignty.
They've sympathized with radicals on the street, with violent activists like Black Lives Matter, and with cultural
Marxists in the academy. They are not neutral players, and it's about time Christians wake up to that.
They are ideological warriors for the destruction of Christendom in America. So, from Sanger, to the
Marxists, to the Democratic Party today, we see a deliberate through -line of hatred for God, hatred for the family, hatred for life, and hatred for truth.
But if we only see this as politics, then we will honestly miss the reality of what's really going on.
You see, the real war is not just flesh and blood, it's spiritual. But now, obviously, we're not going to take a complete
Gnostic approach to this, because there are real -world implications to all the things that we are talking about.
But I do want to take a moment here to get into the theological roots, the corrupt minds and demonic powers that are at work in the real -world situations that we are seeing manifest before us.
The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 1 .28, This is the essence of liberalism.
It is a debased mind. It is not just neutral. No, it is a mind given over to folly because it has essentially rejected the living
God. You see, when we see gay activism and its ideology, transgenderism, socialism, and feminism, we are not only seeing bad ideas.
We are seeing the outworking of minds that are at war with God. Paul describes them as people who are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to their hardness of heart.
These movements are not just misguided. No, no, no, no. They are the fruit of a hardened heart, blind minds, and willful ignorance.
But of course, behind these movements is not just human folly. It is ultimately demonic strategy.
Ephesians 6 .12 makes it very plain to us. Satan has always sought to twist creation.
You see, he cannot create life, so he seeks to mutilate it through abortion, gender confusion, and sexual perversion.
He cannot establish true justice, so he replaces it with socialism and envy.
You see, Satan cannot produce beauty at all, so he corrupts culture with filth and decay.
The things that we see on television today openly. When we see something like drag queens dancing before children.
When the universities are filled with Marxist indoctrination. When you see politicians pushing open borders and abortion.
You are not merely seeing human sins. No, Christian, wake up. You are seeing satanic warfare.
And this brings us to why our nation looks the way that it does right now. You see, if we were to take a look at the present decay in America, we would see
Black Lives Matter. A movement that really cloaks itself in language of justice, but whose founders openly identified as trained
Marxists. They seek not reconciliation, but division. Not peace, but ultimately chaos.
And certainly not biblical justice, but mob rule. We see gay activism and transgender ideology demanding not just tolerance these days, but celebration.
Christian children and regular children who are Christian households are targeted in their schools and libraries and entertainment.
The goal is to destroy innocence and normalize rebellion against God's creation order. If we look around, we see cities ruined by liberal policies.
You think about San Francisco and Chicago and New York. These cities once were symbols of prosperity.
But now they're overrun with crime, homelessness, drugs, and moral collapse.
When God's law is abandoned, man reaps destruction. Just like it says in Proverbs 1434, righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
America's reproach is visible in every blue -run city today. If we continue to look around, we see a generation of degenerate youth stripped of rational ability.
Taught in schools to despise their history, to reject their gender, to hate their nation, and to worship their own desires.
Which brings light to Romans 1 .22, which describes them perfectly. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.
This foolishness is not accidental, of course. It is the program of Satan through the mechanisms of Marxist teachers, feminist agitators, and socialist politicians.
Now, that's the bad news, but here's the good news. There is a solution to all of this.
And it is honestly not new. It is founded in the Christian principles that once built the
West and established America as a shining light. The Christian answer to all of this is, of course,
Christ's reign and Americanism. The answer is no more compromising. The answer is not softer conservatism.
It is a return to the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every sphere of life. Psalm 2 commands the nations,
Christ reigns, and His reign must be acknowledged in politics, in law, in culture.
It must be out there in the public square, walking, talking with skin on it. And Christians are the ones to manifest that, if we would only grab hold and advance with that truth.
And of course, it's easier done through the theonomic and postmillennial vision. God's law is not outdated.
It is the foundation for justice. Christ's kingdom is not weak. It is advancing.
The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. As Habakkuk 2 .14
tells us, And the cultural model for this is much more different than the leftist diversity ideals or liberal individualism.
It is the Anglo -Protestant faith and culture that produced the blessings of ordered liberty in America in the first place.
It was the Puritan vision of covenant law, the Protestant ethic of hard work and family.
These things were central to church, and they grounded civil government in biblical principles.
This is what made America strong, and it is what we need to recover if we are honestly to move forward.
America's national identity was once clear. A people shaped by Protestant Christianity, building institutions that were rooted in Scripture, producing families that actually honored
God, and laws that reflected God's justice. To recover this is not regression.
It is the only way to live. So, so far we have talked about the foundations of the liberal corruption.
We've seen the spiritual wickedness that is ultimately behind it and the decay that it produces, and the true
Christian solution of Christ's reign and the return to the principles that once defined our nation.
This is just really the beginning and the groundwork. So from here, we must move forward with clarity, and with courage, and a commitment to ultimately stomp out the liberal lies and rebuild upon the truth of God's word.
So let's continue. Hey folks, thank you so much for tuning in to Truology. My name is Belushi Prevalon, and if this has been a help to you in any way, please like, share, and subscribe.
And if you haven't already done so, right now on Spotify, you can vote for the next episode. Now, I already have a bunch of things lined up, but I want to give you, the audience, the opportunity to participate on what
Truology will be covering next. So go to Spotify, type in Truology, vote for the next episode, and I will see you next time as we study the truth.
Thank you. The days of timid Christianity are over. If we truly believe that God is
Lord over all, if we truly believe that Scripture is the final authority, then we must be willing to act intellectually, to organize politically, and to compete in the institutions that have shaped our souls and our nation.
This is not just a call to be angry about something vague or lawless. No, this is a call to be courageous and use lawful action, to debate uncompromisingly, to run for public offices, and to build
Christian institutions like we used to, and ultimately also to press legislation that wants to protect life, family, and truth.
The Scriptures call us to contend. Paul tells Timothy to fight the good fight of faith.
The imprecatory Psalms tell us that there is a holy longing for God's justice in the world. They express zeal for righteousness and an impatience for systems that exalt evil.
Man, I wish Christians had that again to actually generate the actions needed in them to compete and destroy the things that are made manifest in society.
Our response must be the same exact zeal as we see in Scripture. And we need to take that zeal and we need to channel it through political means because that's where we're lacking.
We need to use it for a public witness and discipline civic engagement so that truth is actually upheld in the public square and evil is confronted with clarity in a forceful argument.
We need to be the bulwark, not silent, not passive against the advances of modern liberalism.
We must be willing to contend right now so that a God -oriented peaceful public culture can be preserved and passed on to our children.
But before we can act boldly, we must confess how we actually lost our will. How did we become so soft that institutions fell and the public square was conceded to our opponents?
Well, that's a good question because you see, we did not lose this ground in a single moment of defeat. We lost it in a generation of small surrenders.
A thousand choices we made preferred comfort over courage, distraction over duty, convenience over our convictions.
You see, first, modern comforts eroded our resolve. Technology, the endless streaming, social media, gaming, and convenience culture wasted our spiritual vigor.
Instead of reading wide, thinking deep, and disciplining our children, many settled into passive consumption.
Entertainment became the default catechism for the whole cohort. The church meeting became a weekly appointment rather than a training ground for public witness.
While we relaxed, our adversaries were patient strategists. And as we look back now, man, they really accomplished their gospel and their post -millennial vision.
Secondly, the opposition played a long game and seized the institutions through steady organizations.
And this is an important point. You see, they funded academic chairs. They staffed
NGOs. They built multiple platforms and nurtured cultural industries. Their work was methodical.
They placed allies into education, law, film, journalism, and nonprofits. Over decades, these investments essentially just produced cultural muscle that shaped the norms and laws that we have today.
They treated culture as a serious project. And unfortunately, too many Christians, even now, treat it like a hobby only.
And thirdly, the weaponization of language worked against us. Labeling became a tool.
You know, if you call someone a bigot, hater, or backwards, what it does is it takes away their credibility in civic discourse.
These labels were not neutral descriptions. They were instruments to marginalize parents, pastors, and public servants who defended biblical truths.
You see, fear of losing jobs, reputations, or access caused many to shut up rather than stand firm.
The result? A chilling effect that hollowed out civic courage. This passivity is not merely a cultural failure.
It is a spiritual one. Hebrews 12 .1 urges us to run with endurance the race that is set before us.
You see, endurance is formed by discipline, by training, by a willingness to actually be unpopular for the sake of truth.
We must honestly confess that we have too often preferred comfort over faithful, costly living.
And honestly, we cannot afford this anymore. The future, our children, our churches, our freedoms all hang in the balance.
Let me tell you why we cannot stay passive. Because the stakes are eternal and generational.
The reason we must recover the will to fight is urgent and very simple. Everything we love is at stake.
Culture shapes our character. Laws shape our habits. And school curricula shapes mindsets.
If we allow institutions to be reshaped by anti -Christian ideologies, the consequences will be both immediate and eternal.
But there is a biblical pattern for what we must do for these national consequences. Just remember that proverb, righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
When a society normalizes behaviors that God calls sinful, that society weakens itself morally and institutionally.
God's judgment in Scripture is often followed by, you know, sustained rebellion. And this is not something that we should, you know, flippantly fear.
It is something that we should soberly heed. I mean, imagine the long -term arc of consequences that we will have to face if we remain passive.
I mean, you see, right now we're dealing with schools teaching children to deny their biological reality and to embrace sexual experimentation as a norm.
I mean, do you want that to continue? We have laws that penalize pastors for preaching Scripture and compel institutions to adopt ideologies contrary to conscience and basic science.
I don't want that to continue. We have, you know, there's warfare and policy instances that erode family structures and they increase dependency.
Right now we're dealing with the whole, you know, the snap fiasco going away on November 1st.
You know, we also have collapse of our civic virtues. I do not want any of these things to continue.
You know, we have a culture that's honestly just right now normalizing abortion and giving sexual license to young women.
You know, we have historical amnesia that leaves children without roots in truth. I want all of that to end.
Because under a sustained liberal takeover, the civic environment becomes inhospitable for biblical faith.
The cost isn't merely just policy loss. It's the erosion of a moral infrastructure that transmits faith from one generation to the next.
You see, to bequeath our children with a world where they can live, speak, and worship freely in accordance with biblical faith and truth, this is our solemn duty.
And the Scriptures codify this duty. Deuteronomy 6 tells us that the responsibility of faith transmission is squarely on the parents.
It says, So then, our stewardship is not a passive inheritance.
It is an active preservation. That means that the decision to remain idle is also a decision to surrender our children's heritage.
So, the will to fight is also an act of love. Love for God. Love for our posterity.
Love for the ordered liberty that makes flourishing possible. But where do we get courage?
Where do we draw it from? Well, let's think for a second. We should draw it from examples.
How about from those who stood firm when standing was costly? We stand on the shoulders of giants, those who contended for truth in the public square in times past.
I want to take a moment now to highlight two heroes from history that we honestly should emulate.
You know, two examples of courageous public contestation. History is not simply a catalog of events.
It is a treasury of methods, courage, and models we can follow. If we are to renew our will, we must learn from those who fought the long battles for moral order and public truth.
Two figures provide instructive examples. First one is going to be Patrick Henry from the
American founding era. And then the second is William Wilberforce from the British abolition movement.
Both show faith, public courage, and strategic contestation that can change a nation.
Patrick Henry is famous for his bold words, Give me liberty or give me death.
But his life exemplifies a posture for every Christian to emulate. Because it is fearless, and it was a fearless defense of conscience and local liberties in the face of centralizing powers.
Henry challenged elites, rallied ordinary citizens, and insisted that the government not trample upon the natural rights rooted in creator -ordained laws.
He pressed arguments in political assemblies, marshaled public opinion, and helped make liberty a lived reality in a new nation.
From Henry, we learn several lessons. Never underestimate the power of public rhetoric shaped by convictions.
Engage local and state politics. And refuse to accept legal frameworks that crowd out biblical conscience.
He modeled how to contest ideas, not just with mere slogans, but with organized, disciplined action that wins laws and public sentiments.
Our next figure, William Wilberforce, was really known for his persistent legislative and moral campaigning.
You see, Wilberforce's life teaches us that the long game of moral reform through lawful political means eventually gains the win.
He saw the evil of the slave trade and refused to be satisfied with moral preaching alone. He entered parliament, marshaled evidence, and relentlessly used legislative tools, petitions, and public education to shift both law and culture.
He endured decades of defeat and delay. But his steady, principled persistence ultimately changed public sentiment and legal structure across the nation.
Wilberforce's strategy is a blueprint for us today. Because it combines biblical and doctrinal clarity with relentless, patient political work.
Something that the church desperately needs to get back to. Lobby lawgivers. Train public servants.
Craft legislation. And pair that with pressure, with persuasive moral arguments, we could certainly get the win in this age.
You see, moral wins require time, organization, and faithfulness. And if the church would get back to those things, then we can truly stomp out the deeds of Satan in our society.
These examples are simply just examples of courageous, lawful contestation that actually works.
And it would really do us good if we remember where we came from and the men who have laid the foundations for our civilization.
Especially those in the reformed circle. You see, we have a heritage we cannot lose and cannot afford to lose.
Because the Reformation was not just a moment in history. No, it was the spark that lit the
Western mind. The foundation on which free nations were built. And the inheritance that gave birth to America itself.
But that same heritage of truth, order, virtue, and courage is really now under siege by the forces of moral confusion and cultural decay.
Yet, this is not the hour for despair. This is the hour for resolve. The same spirit that stirred up Luther to stand before emperors, and the same conviction that carried the
Puritans across the Atlantic, still calls for us today and now. You see, we need to stand firm, we need to speak truth, and we need to learn how to build again.
Our forefathers did not carve a civilization out of the wilderness and tyranny so that their children could bow to corruption and call it progress.
No, they built it with scripture in one hand and a plow in the other. They understood that liberty without righteousness is just another form of bondage.
And so must we. You see, the call of history is very clear. Either we reclaim the moral vision that built the
West, or we watch our freedoms crumble under the weight of our own forgetfulness. Now, of course there is hope as we consider these thoughts, because the truth still stands.
The gospel still saves, and the people of God still have work to do. And work we must.
So, whoever you are, if you're listening to my voice, please rise up, rebuild what liberalism has tried to tear down, teach your children truth, speak with conviction in the public square, don't just hide within the four walls of the church, defend conscience, protect your family, and labor for a culture once again shaped by Christ's lordship.
We are not relics of a bygone age. We are stewards of a living faith. The same gospel that reformed
Europe and founded America can still reform this generation. But it takes courage, prayer, and endurance.
Exactly what we talked about throughout this whole podcast. The hour is late, yes, but the mission is alive and well.
The torch of truth is not gone out. It's being passed to you, you, the listener. So take it, hold it high, and let the world see once again that Christ indeed is
Lord. Not just of the church, or in this little corner in your mind, in your room, in your private life, but of every heart, every home, and every nation under heaven.
This is our moment to stand, to speak, to act, boldly, fearlessly, faithfully, for the truth and liberty that we have come to identify ourselves as Americans, and for the glory of God.
And with that, folks, I do appreciate you listening to Truology. As always, you can like, share, and subscribe if this has been helpful to you.
I hope you do, honestly, stay encouraged in the time where we're living as we decimate the liberal order.
Thank you for listening. My name is Belushi. Keep studying the truth. Truology is a podcast that seeks to equip, effect, and engage the world through Christ and his wonderful gospel of the kingdom, against which he has promised that the gates of hell shall never prevail, but increased by his government, his law, and grace, till it be presented a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.
If there's any fear, threat, or worry, remember that the one that has called you according to his purpose and grace has also promised that all enemies will soon be placed under his feet.
Now, I want you to believe that not because I said it, or because it sounds really nice and spiritual, but primarily, and wholeheartedly, and only, and biblically, because it's the truth.
