Hello and welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy Cain and it is a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119 verse 57. It says, Yahweh, the Lord is my portion.
I have promised to keep your words. Or you could say, I have said that I would keep your words.
You know, one thing you don't see here is that I said that I would keep the church bylaws or the articles of incorporation or the church covenant or whatever else man comes up with.
The starting point and the ending point is scripture. We must start with God's Word, end with God's Word.
This is the essence of a God -centered theology is understanding that it starts with God, then we come down to man so that we submit and change ourselves and conform ourselves to God, not the other way around.
And so this is a really good way to do that by understanding that Yahweh is my portion. The Lord is my help.
The Lord is everything that I need. He is everything that I want. He is everything that I need to do good in life.
And I have said, I have promised to keep your words. Have you ever given your promise to someone and said, you know,
I promise you I'm going to do this. I promise you I'm going to do that. You know, I promise I'm going to come through. I promise
I'm going to do this thing for you. There's a thing that is lost in today's world about keeping your word.
If you give your word and say, I'm going to do something, you should do it. Well here the psalmist is saying,
Lord, I promise you I have given my word that I'm going to keep your words.
Is that your prayer today? Is that your promise? Is your promise to study the word of God, learn the word of God and keep the word of God?
Or are you out keeping man's word? Are you man centered? So I encourage you to be God centered. I encourage you to get into the word of God and I encourage you to keep your word whenever you give it.
