All right. So let's talk about the book adventure of Kami Lambie. What? What's the purpose of this book? What's the your desire heart behind writing this book?

The heart behind it started when I came to Apologia radio or pardon me Apologia Church and the children were learning the catechism and It was becoming an event when the kids would get together at the end after the church would meet for the service.

And they would have this competition to see who would remember the Answers to the questions and then the scripture that went with it. I had never been brought up with catechism and so when they were giving these very profound answers with such little voices that to me was really encouraging and Because their answers were so full and I'd never experienced anything like that.

So The more I heard about it and then of course my grandson was growing up in it my desire was to Give a tool to moms and dads at home to be able to incorporate this into their daily teaching. Instructional time.

Why Catechism Means Teaching and Has Always Been in the Church

Yeah, or just in the non instructional time it becomes an instructional time. Which is what happens in the biblical faith. Anyway, that's right.

So the word we've lost catechism a lot. Yes, this particular generation catechism wasn't unusual to Christians and history as a matter of fact. I say almost every single Sunday when we do the catechism.

We have lots of visitors. I always try to explain. What are we doing here? This is so unusual to have part of your liturgy part of your worship service. We do catechism. Catechism big scary word. It just means teaching.

That's all it is means teaching and since the very very very earliest stages of the church You can see it literally in the New Testament. You see the faith being passed down Via confession and creed. It's literally in the New Testament itself.

You have Paul reciting one of the earliest Christian creeds in the New Testament. You see in the second century of the church the early Christians were formulating creeds and confessions to pass down the faith.

Systematically to other Christians and so that is really part of the kingdom of God. The church since the very beginning has been a part of catechism. Teaching and doctrinal instruction and so at Apologia Church We hold to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith very very similar identical in many ways to the Westminster Confession of Faith and So it really crosses borders there in terms of Westminster Presbyterian and Baptist, but there are essential core truths of the faith and you're trying to communicate those through a wonderful children's book, right?

A Children's Book Rich in Theology and Conversation

This is a five chapter book and it's meant for the young reader. But it's so theologically rich that as I was even rereading it this past week thinking about it I was thinking about how much meat and potatoes there is in it and very little candy.

It's like, you know got a lot of nutrition in there that sometimes even in the third chapter where it kind of comes to this apex of the mother you and Grammy Lammy, they are explaining how God reveals himself and It's so thick it's almost almost difficult to read but it also Becomes something that the little one can stop and really have good conversation with mom and dad about yes and and learn to truly understand something that may be hard initially when they first hear it or read it and inside there.

It's not necessarily the first five questions of the catechism, it's not but it is in the beginning the catechism and it is inspired by Desiring or desiring god .org. So that's where I get a lot of my prompts, right?

Yeah.

Piper did a great Baptist catechism based off the confession of faith exactly that we actually use. Everything is an excellent way to communicate that so like chapter one is who is God? So it's interesting story in terms of really unpacking the truth.

God, Man's Chief End, and the Glory of God

From the catechism who is God? Right and I love that. I love the question. Who is God asked Sammy? Oh, that's a great question. God is the first and best of all beings answered mother, which is from the catechism Number one beings.

That's right. And then the second one in which I love these are foundational and honestly it when I was A chaplain at the hospital. Those were the two points that I worked through with every person that came and sat in my office.

Who was coming out of drug and alcohol addiction as adults in very tough situations? One talking about God and two is our purpose. Yes. What's what's man's primary? For today his chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever in your presence is fullness of joy in your right hand.

There are pleasures forever. Sorry, so it's not just for children, right? It's for adults, but you've done it in such a spectacular way in a warm and a very warm.
