Hello everybody. Welcome to God's Center Theology. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we're doing some
God -centered recommendations, and I want to start out by recommending to you the Legacy Standard Bible.
In 1977, we had the New American Standard. In 1995, there was a good update to that, and I have many
New American Standards that I use and love. But the 2020 New American Standard Bible, the update to that translation, while it was good, it just wasn't really what
I was looking for. And so when the Legacy Standard Bible got done, it was just wonderful in every way.
Now look, there are no perfect translations. We reject King James -only -ism. We reject only -ism of any kind.
The Bible was originally penned in Greek and Hebrew, and any translation into any language that is faithful to the text that they're translating it from can said to be the
Word of God, that language. So the key is to find a formal equivalent, as much of a word -for -word translation as possible as you can, but also recognizing that all translations will use an element of dynamic equivalence, which means sometimes words and phrases and things won't come over into another language all perfectly.
So you have to either add words or kind of flesh out the meaning using words in our language that is still carrying what is being conveyed in the
Old. And every translation does this. It's perfectly normal, perfectly natural to do.
And so Legacy Standard Bible is one that I love. I preach out of it every Lord's Day. I think it does a really good job with verbs and hitting the real sense of what's being said.
And so there are other people that are much smarter in this area than I am that can go into greater detail about that, but it's just my favorite.
I love it. Now, 316 Publishing is the ones that produces it, and they do the inside column reference here, which you can see there.
And I love this particular edition. It's got a great font size for preaching. I can see it well.
And then Rocky Mountain Bibles rebounded this for me in navy deerskin.
I had never heard of doing a Bible in deerskin. I've had goatskin, cowhide, genuine leather, all that good stuff.
But he told me, he said, Andy, I'm telling you, deerskin's the way to go. The yap is really nice, and it will show imperfections as I'm using it and touching it and holding it, he said, but it's just it never loses the softness, and it's just really protected for this
Bible. So highly recommend them. Highly recommend the Legacy Standard Bible for studying, reading, preaching, and teaching.
So check out 316 Publishing. I'll put links in the description to not only where you can purchase your copy of the
Legacy Standard, but also talk to Rocky Mountain Bibles if you're interested in a rebind on that as well.
