The Commission to Take the Gospel to Every Creature

Are big things, but they accomplish little. All their objectives are very small. They have almost forgotten the command of Jesus to take the gospel to every creature. On one occasion, the Bishop of Bristol took great offense at John Wesley appearing in his area, Diocese.

The Gospel Ministry Has No Human Boundaries

So, when John Wesley was challenged, what did he say? The world is my parish. And also, being an Anglican minister, he said, when he was ordained, he was given the commission to take the word of God. Now, who has commissioned you?

You know, I have no restrictions. I will recognize no boundaries. I cannot say, I need your permission or any such thing to preach the gospel in any part of the world. I don't see that that is a scriptural procedure at all.

Antioch and Pentecost as the Launch of Mission

The church in Antioch first sent Paul and Barnabas. Because the Holy Ghost said, separate me, Paul and Barnabas. From that event began the great missionary movement of the church. As a matter of fact, the real launching ground was from the day of Pentecost.

Losing Spiritual Power Through Pride and Worldly Ambition

However, that being the church's commission, as I have watched, you know, you have said, twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are. No, I have seen many twinkle, twinkle, little preachers.

And they would soon get inflated and imagine that they were great men of God. The next step was to lose their power. And the next step was to seek money or property. What a disappointment. We have just sung or not sung.
