Duncan Campbell and Life Under the Spirit's Discipline

There is a story about Duncan Campbell when he was preaching at a pastor's conference in Louisiana. As Duncan Campbell preached to the assembled ministers The power of God was felt in the meeting and one of the pastors remarked about Campbell it was evident to all of us that here was a man in our midst who lived his life under the discipline of the Holy Spirit.

The Surrendered Life and Christ's Reign

Our lesson today friends in our flame series is the discipline of the Holy Spirit. This speaks of the surrendered life where the Holy Spirit is prominent in the life of a believer. Where self and sin is dethroned and Christ reigns on the throne of one's heart by his spirit we see in 2nd Corinthians 3 317.

Liberty Under the Lordship of the Spirit

Now the Lord is that spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty. This can be understood where the Spirit is Lord that is where he is given his true deity and Sovereignty, but there is Liberty and when this occurs one is set free to live under the Discipline of the Holy Spirit is a freeing experience friend.

Manly Beasley and Faith in Trials

I never forget the story related by the Southern Baptist preacher Manly Beasley who lived such a life of faith. Manly had read FJ Eagles book bone of his bone and it had Impacted his life to such degree.

He wanted to go meet the author and see if what was written was real in his life. So manly Beasley and his wife traveled to Mexico. Where he go was serving as a missionary? Fj Eagle was very gracious to them during their visit and Privately manly Beasley asked Eagle a question.

Which was bothering him it pertained to a difficult crisis that Manly was in and one from which he longed for deliverance. Fj Eagle listened patiently until manly was finished speaking. Then answering with a penetrating look he replied.

Learning to Live in Difficult Circumstances

I cannot tell you how to get out of your difficult situation. But I can tell you how to live in it. Those words friends sum up the life of the believer that has lived under the Discipline of the Holy Spirit.

Self, the Cross, and Full Consecration

Oneself goes the way the cross that's when power comes in. Years ago when God was dealing with me, and I was always crying out to him for deeper uselessness to him I came to the place of Understanding the life lived under the discipline of the Holy Spirit.

One day in my quiet time when I was on my knees Wrestling with God. He said to me if I am to use you like few other men. Then you will have to live like few men do. This was the final battleground between Self and the cross it was either future Uselessness to God or a life of uselessness for me a self had to be willingly Annihilated daily on the cross and there had to be a full surrender to his lordship in Consecration from that point forward until he came or called, but there was no turning back you.
