Abortion, Rape Exceptions, and the Dehumanization of the Unborn

During the recent GOP political debate in New Hampshire, Governor Chris Christie was asked a question about abortion.

For six years as governor, Planned Parenthood does not receive that funding from the state budget anymore, over $50 million worth of money that's been saved now, that is not going to do exactly what Hillary Clinton wants to have done, has advocated for.

She believes that that organization, which engages in the systematic murder of children in the womb in order to maximize the value of their body parts for sale on the open market, is an acceptable position.

Let me tell you something, I don't care whether you're a millennial or whether you're in your 90s, no one, no one is for that type of activity unless you are the most radical type of extremist on this issue.

The systematic murder of children in the womb, that is awesome. That is exactly the kind of language that we should be using in this debate. Even atheist Sarah Silverman agrees.

If the people who raised me and loved me said, people are trying to murder babies, I'd say we have to stop them, you know? I mean...

Way to go, Sarah Silverman. Way to go, Chris Christie, being consistent about babies in the womb. Right, exactly. Now, round two.

The fact is that I believe that if a woman has been raped, that is a birth and a pregnancy that she should be able to terminate. If she is a victim of incest, this is not a woman's choice. This is a woman being violated.

And the fact is that we have always believed, as has Ronald Reagan, that we have self-defense for women who have been raped and impregnated because of it, or the subject of incest and been impregnated for it.

That woman should not have to deliver that child if they believe that violation is now an act of self-defense by terminating that pregnancy.

Did he just say that babies conceived in rape ought to be murdered out of self-defense? Are babies attacking their mothers? Are mothers having to defend themselves against attack from their own babies?

In what other case in our judicial system do we actually give capital punishment to babies because of the crimes of the father? I mean, anybody can find the inconsistency in this, even radical, feminazi, atheist comedians like Sarah Silverman.

Sarah Silverman tweeted in response, if you believe abortion is cold-blooded murder, then how do you make the exception for rape? You are exactly right. Now, speaking of feminazi tweets, the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws was agitated this week during the Super Bowl.

Narwhal, whatever. Narwhal was agitated over a Doritos Super Bowl commercial. Here it is.

And there's your beautiful baby. Any day now.

Really? You're eating Doritos?

He's eating Doritos. On my ultrasound. Do you see what I have to do?

I know.

In response, Narwhal tweeted this. Hashtag not buying it. That Doritos ad using anti-choice tactic of humanizing fetuses. And sexist tropes of dads as clueless and moms as uptight. Yep, they really said that.

The Image of God, Psalm 139, and Christian Consistency on Abortion

You see, this is just the problem in our culture today. The dehumanization of babies in the womb. Whether it comes from the standard GOP line of abortion in the case of rape or incest, or whether it comes from radical feminazi atheists.

We dehumanize the baby in the womb. We don't care about life. We don't care about the dignity and value of the unborn. And so we say, if you don't want your baby, kill him. This is our problem. We don't stand on the Word of God as the foundation of all of life.

God says in Psalm 139 that He knits us together in our mother's womb. That we are fearfully and wonderfully made. According to the Bible, we are all image bearers of God and have inherent value and dignity.

As Christians, we should never stand on a standard political platform that is inconsistent and is just a failure. We ought to call abortion murder. We ought to stand for the criminalization of abortion in our nation.

We ought to do this because the only way as Christians that we can faithfully communicate the gospel in this area, in our society, is if we tell the truth and we call people to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and for forgiveness.

Truth, Repentance, and Faith in Jesus Christ

Christians say that we love the one who is the embodiment of truth. Jesus says, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me. We ought to walk in truth. We ought to love truth and we should desire to be consistent.
