Apologia Moment | Rachel Dolezal is Black and Luke is a Dog

What's up guys, this is Jeff Durbin with Apologia Studios here with another Apologia Moment. Over the last couple of weeks we have seen a flurry of conversation surrounding Mr. Bruce Jenner, the grandfather who has recently attempted to go from being a man to pretending to be a woman.

Transgenderism, Identity Confusion, and Rachel Dolezal

Transgenderism is a very important cultural topic right now and it leads us into the more current issue with Rachel Dolezal, the head of the NAACP in Washington, this girl. Rachel Dolezal was raised in Lincoln County, Montana, yes, probably the whitest place on planet Earth, to Czech and German parents, these guys.

Recently Rachel was on MSNBC with Melissa Harris Perry and she said this.

I've heard a lot of people ask you the question, are you African American or Caucasian? I am not going to ask it that way. Are you black?

Yes.

When discussing this topic on her show, Melissa Harris Perry didn't want to make the comparison between Rachel and the transgender issue.

But is it possible that she might actually be black? The best way that I know how to describe this, and I want to be very careful here, because I don't want to say that it is equivalent to the transgender experience.

Then she immediately compared it to transgenderism.

Some of us are born cisgendered, some of us are born transgendered. I wonder, can it be that one would be cis black and trans black? Is that possible?

I mean, why not?

Truth, the Word of God, and the Imago Dei

I don't think there's really anything complex about truth, what's true and what is not true. I don't really know how she's saying that it's really that complex or that confusing, because it's really not.

I mean, either you're, I don't know, I think she's making it into a bigger issue than, or a different issue than it actually is.

One would think. The problem is, in our culture today, we've abandoned our heritage, our biblical heritage, and the word of God is the foundation of all of life. And as a result, we are lost in a sea of confusion.

We can't even say any longer, this, but not that. White, but not black. Male, but not female. When you abandon God, you lose the ability to have any meaningful definitions or discussions. Now, this needs to be understood.

It's only with the biblical worldview that we can actually say that all human beings are created equal in the Imago Dei. That all of life is valuable and meaningful. It's only with God's word that we can even have proper definitions.
