- This is a ministry of striving for eternity. As we continue our study from last week, we're looking at some simple critical thinking skills that you can apply to some of the social issues of our day.
- 01:14
- Most of the time what you find is when you apply just a little bit of critical thinking, you can really break down these bad arguments that people make and they really don't have answers because they haven't thought it critically.
- 01:28
- What I'd like to address today is the fact that many times you will hear people criticize
- 01:34
- Christians because of slavery in the Bible. They will be very critical of slavery.
- 01:41
- We would disagree with certain types of slavery as well. The Bible says you should not kidnap people.
- 01:48
- The Bible doesn't endorse slavery where people are owned as property, but it does endorse a system of work like we have of employment.
- 01:59
- Now, there are differences in the slavery, but what is the reason they have against slavery?
- 02:04
- That's the question to ask because they're ultimately going to refer to either it being wrong to own another person, which you can go from last week, the issue we brought up with abortion, because that's the same ownership issue of owning the fetus in the womb.
- 02:20
- They argue they should be able to murder it because it's part of their body. They own it. The only other option they have is restriction.
- 02:28
- Now, once they argue that way, you could just ask them, do prisons restrict? The answer is yes, and far more restricting than slavery was.
