The Lordship of Christ and the Meaning of Human Life

The right to life and the protection of our most defenseless neighbor is not an endeavor to be undertaken apart from the Lordship of Jesus Christ our Savior. Indeed, our labor is left in ruin. For if we do not define the miracle of life in terms of a design, then we cannot explain what it means to be truly human.

If we separate the womb and its contents from the hand of God, we're left with nothing more than a clump of tissue. And when we divorce the power of the gospel from abortion, we make it merely a political issue.

If that missed you, let me elaborate while the confusion is still fresh. God, the creator of life, took on human nature and became flesh. As a baby born to save sinners from their mess, he was sought after to be killed by those whose earthly thrones were under duress.

The Image of God, the Law of God, and the Fall

We confess he is the king and his good news is that salvation is found in him alone. Yet his rule is rejected by those who commandeer their own hearts and do not wish to be dethroned. From tablets of stone to being engraved on human inscriptions, the law of God says you shall not take the life of an image bearer or the penalty of death as the only prescription.

Conviction. Guilt is pronounced on the testimony of the triune witness. He will bring forth justice in the wake of his fury on man's despicable sickness. Listen to this. Abortion is murder and murder is a result of the fall in the garden, which means that no amount of legislation can change the heart of man.

No law can prevent his morality from being hardened. Only the call to repent and believe the gospel, the power of God for salvation to a world that's dead in transgressions, rebellious and hostile. Impossible suppression of the image of God taking residence just beneath the surface of the skin.

The Church's Duty to Speak for the Unborn

They love death and by destroying life they demonstrate their necessity to be born again. To all those lining the pews of the American congregation where the pro-life movement has failed, we will stand in the gap of darkness and be the light of a new generation.

Out of our mouths will come the sound, the cry for justice on behalf of the slaughtered children whose blood cries out to God from the ground. We will be the voice for unborn life in the midst of your startling silence, bringing the peace of Christ to bear over the tyrannical reign of apathy in this continuing violence.

The message of life will carry from the streets lined with sidewalk prophets as we hold back those stumbling towards death. We will not tarry or be discouraged by defeat but we will carry the power of Christ in our bodies as long as our lungs have breath.

Persevering in Gospel Faithfulness Against Opposition

Whether or not the fruit of our efforts are seen, we will stand our post refusing to be shaken, trusting in the sovereign hand of God to save babies while the world deems them forsaken. We will endure in the trenches under opposition and misunderstanding despite fear.

Leveled by criticism and commanded to bow out, we will still say that Jesus Christ is Lord and babies are murdered here. Faithfulness will mark our action as into the darkness we will shine light. Love for our neighbor will compel us in the frustration of our weak and weary plight.
