Matt Slick of www.carm.org explains some of the wrong reasons for becoming a Christian.
Some people try to become a Christian for the wrong reason. You do not become a Christian because, one, you want to give
Jesus a try, or, two, because you want to see if your life gets better, or, three, if you want to experiment with religion, or, four, you want to have your life improve, or, five, you just want to see what happens.
If you try Christianity for any of these reasons, then you're probably not a Christian to begin with, unless you come to a true understanding of what
Christianity is after you've confessed. But, at any rate, you become a Christian because you know that you're a sinner, and that God will punish all who have sinned, and you want to find salvation.
You want to find deliverance from the righteous judgment of God. The result of this is salvation, and that is what the
Lord gives, and He then lives in you. And the result of that is that your life will change, it will improve.
Don't become a Christian for the wrong reasons. Become one for the right reason, to have your sins forgiven, so that you can escape the damnation that will come upon all who fail to trust in Christ.
