Humanity Made Male and Female in God's Image

Would you look at Genesis chapter 1?

The Greek word logos, which is translated word.

And what he thinks about obviously is himself.

In other words it is the sum total of all intelligence, wisdom, beauty, power.

Sex, Marriage, and the Goodness of Creation

Now God said that he made man in his image.

He didn't make him a solitary being.

Nor a self-contained unit.

No, un essere indipendente.

But he made him man and woman.

So that in a total unity we could still have that complexity which means that we've got to love.

Now, notice in verse 28 that God said be fruitful and multiply.

Sexual Distortion and the Fallen Human Nature

You don't have to be more than a few minutes in an army barracks or in any group of men or women.

Before you begin to hear people pouring out filthy language.

And this language is always an abominable mixture of blasphemy of the name of God and of sex and of filth. These three things are always mixed together.

We see by that how appallingly degraded the human mind has become.

Until we are born again, we also think this way.

And our old nature still thinks this way.

But it's only when we meet Christ and read the Bible that we can see how horrible it is.

The Bible reveals to us a conception of marriage which is utterly beautiful.

And are really living for God.

Are really crucified in Christ.

Sex becomes for them what God really intended it to be originally.

And we begin to discover something quite new about God.

We are not allowed to think that God has any sexual nature in himself. That is blasphemy.

And the result was that they produced immorality on every scale.

Just imagine how appalling is any kind of perversion of that image.

The Bible condemns in the most terrible terms any kind of degradation of that image.

Any kind of sexual behavior which doesn't correspond to the image of God is like spitting in God's face.

And this is why the Bible pronounces such very severe statements about any kind of sexual perversion.

Biblical Commands on Adultery and Sexual Sin

One of the Ten Commandments of the Decalogue is thou shall not commit adultery. But that was preceded by an earlier commandment in the Decalogue you shall not have any image of God, any false idea of God.

If I get a wrong image of God I end up with a wrong image of man as well. If I don't really know God and respect him then I don't really know my fellow man or respect him either.

I don't even know myself or my own body and I don't even have respect for my own body.

In Leviticus, chapters 18 and 19.

We have a list of horrible sexual sins.

But you can read yourselves.

But notice that God said in chapter 18 that if Israel committed these sins they would be thrown out of the promised land.

And in verse 24 he said that the reason why he was sending Israel in to massacre those people out of existence was because they were all committing these very sins.

We read for example in verse 10.

That if a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death. Moses had one punishment for sexual perversion and that was death.

Ma una sola punizione per l 'immoralità o la perversione sessuale e ciò era la morte. Ora la nostra società è tormentata dai problemi come l 'aborto. Dovremo permettere l 'aborto oppure no? La risposta della Bibbia è molto chiara.

Jesus' Teaching on Lust, Divorce, and Remarriage

E se Israele si fosse mantenuta pura non sarebbe stata scacciata dal suo paese. Ora Cristo prende questa legge di Mosè e la porta molto più in là. Se voi vedete ciò che ha detto nel sermone sulla montagna.

Versetti 27 -30.

Del capitolo 5. Prima cita la legge di Mosè non commettere adulterio. Ma poi dice. Chiunque guarda una donna per appetirla o con desiderio ha già commesso adulterio con lei nel suo cuore. Così il Signore dice al versetto 29.

Se l 'occhio tuo destro ti fa cadere in peccato cavalo! Se la tua mano destra ti fa pecare taglialo! Dio non ha potuto vincere la potenza di questo peccato nella mia vita quando ero giovane finché non ero pronto a fare questo.

Io ero convinto Dio mi ha portato alla convinzione che dovevo fare questo. Ed era allora che Dio ha vinto il potere di questo peccato. Vi è ancora da dire su questo argomento nei versetti 31 e 32. Dio o Cristo parla del divorzio.

Chiunque manda via la moglie salvo per cagione, per difornicazione la fa essere adultera e chiunque sposa con lei che è mandata via commette adulterio. Una delle cose che più sono tristi nel mio lavoro per Dio.

È di parlare con le persone che si sono divorziate.

E decidono risposarsi. E tutto ciò che io posso fare è far loro vedere ciò che Cristo dice. Io vorrei tanto rendere più morbida la Bibbia e dare delle risposte facili. Ma sarei un profeta falso se facessi questo.

Non posso far altro che trasmettere fedelmente ciò che Cristo mi ha insegnato. Ho esaminato ogni passo nella Bibbia e particolarmente nei Vangeli nelle lingue originali per vedere se non c 'è una via facile per passare attraverso questo problema.

Ma non c 'è una via facile per risolverlo. Mi sembra molto chiaro che Cristo ha insegnato così che se siamo sposati e la nostra sposa è infedele noi abbiamo il diritto di divorziare. Abbiamo il diritto.

Ma se lo facciamo allora rimaniamo senza risposarci. Non credo che Cristo insegna un altro matrimonio. Ciò significa che dobbiamo affrontare il matrimonio con la più grande serietà.

In Dio's sight marriage is something forever. A matrimonio è qualcosa che dura per sempre.

Cristo ha basato tutto il suo insegnamento riguardo al matrimonio e al divorzio sull 'ultimo versetto del capitolo secondo della Genesi o anche il penultimo versetto. Perciò l 'uomo lascerà suo padre e sua madre si unirà alla sua moglie e saranno una stessa carne.

Tra parentesi potremmo dire che se questi primi capitoli della Genesi fossero soltanto della mitologia allora Cristo ha basato grande parte del suo insegnamento sulla mitologia.

Che sarebbe sbagliata. Cristo ha detto che.

Né un segno, un iota della legge potrebbe passare finché esiste l 'universo. Cristo credeva che questi primi due capitoli fossero parola di Dio.

E questo è il motivo per cui lo credo anch 'io. E ringraziamo Dio che la scienza anche conferma.

Fino in fondo. Ora in questo versetto noi vediamo due cose. Il matrimonio consiste in due cose. In primo luogo lasciando il padre e la madre. Secondo unendosi alla propria moglie. Una domanda che sembra sempre presentarsi ora fra i giovani è questa.

Cinquecento giovani mi hanno presentato questa domanda soltanto due giorni fa a Strasburgo. Se tu ami una ragazza e sei fidanzato con lei perchè non avere relazioni sessuali prima di sposarti. Ci sono dei motivi molto gravi per cui non farlo.

Why Sex Belongs Within Marriage

Come la Bibbia quando uno va a letto con una donna o con un uomo Dio considera questo un matrimonio e questo è un matrimonio che non si può più revocare. Nella Bibbia non si trova mai un rito nuziale.

Abramo ha preso Sara nella sua tenda e Isacua ha preso Rebecca nella sua tenda e questo era il matrimonio. Può darsi che ci fosse un rito ma la Bibbia non ce ne parla. Agli occhi di Dio la relazione sessuale costituisce un matrimonio.

Allora prendiamo il caso di una ragazza pura un giovane puro e che si amano e si sono fidanzati. Perchè non dovrebbero avere una relazione prima di sposarsi. Io trovo tre importanti motivi per cui non è giusto.

Prima di tutto perchè forse prima ancora di sposarvi scoprirete che non siete adatti l 'uno all 'altro e vi lascerete.

Supposing you have a baby. And thirdly we are coming to what I'll have to explain with the scripture first. In God's sight marriage is not just sleeping with your girl. It is also leaving your father and mother.

In other words there's a public act by which you are no longer in your father's house but now you are living in your own house with your wife. The whole world sees this. It's a public thing. Now if you're sleeping with your girl and you haven't publicly let it be known that you're married you are living a lie and God cannot bless this testimony.

And this is disastrous for your soul.

Not only that but sexual relationships before marriage always have to be furtive and they can never be total. And this has a very bad.

Psychological effect.

Perhaps especially on the girl. And it can even follow you to your And detract from normal sexual relations. Anyway I think you must just sort all these things out with God honestly if you are engaged and you must seek to do what most glorifies God.

Moral Discipline and the Goodness of God's Laws

And you must put yourself before the word of God and try to understand the will of the Lord and put it fully in practice. Now even though these teachings on marriage on divorce, on sex seem so severe let us remember that God is love.

God has repeatedly said in the book of Deuteronomy that he has given all these laws to make man happy.

God wants us to be happy. If you put your hand in a flame of course it gets burnt. You disobey the law of God. If you observe the laws of hygiene your body will be healthy and you will be happy. But if you disobey those laws well you will suffer.

Church Discipline and the Exclusion of the Unrighteous

And God has given us moral and spiritual laws for all these things. And they are for our good and for our happiness. Now there are one or two other scriptures I want to see with you before I stop. In 1 Corinthians 5 and 6 where Paul is dealing with the case of immorality that arose in the church in Corinth He said in verse 9 that we are not even to associate with anyone who is immoral.

He is not talking here about unbelievers but someone who calls himself a Christian. He says we are not even to eat with such a person. And in verse 13 he says drive out the wicked person from among you.

And in verse 9 of chapter 6 He says don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Don't be deceived neither the immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor homosexuals of either kind nor thieves nor greedy nor drunkards nor revilers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Neither the immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor homosexuals of either kind nor thieves nor greedy nor drunkards nor revilers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. And then in the book of Revelation chapter 21.

And verse 8 we read that as for the cowardly that is those who have not the courage to follow Christ the faithless the polluted murderers, fornicators sorcerers, idolaters and all liars their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death.

Their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death. This is how the Bible speaks of the people who lower the image of God.

Self-Control as Christian Training

Now in verse 27.

In verse 27.

Paul says that he subdues his body lest after having preached to others he himself should lose his reward and in verse 25 he says every athlete exercises self-control in all things and he says they do it just to receive an earthly a perishable wreath but we are imperishable.
