Hey, wouldn't you like to come to the end of your life with no regrets knowing that your life had purpose and that you made? An impact for Christ. We'll tell you how that can be a reality. Here today on the road to reality KP is about to encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Christ and live for what really matters.

Following Christ According to First John

He sets the table if you will for our discussion by taking us to first John chapter 2. This verse in first John.

Chapter 2 verse 6 in the NIV reads Whoever claims to live in him must walk. Jesus did and in the Living Bible it reads like this. Anyone who says he's a Christian Should live as Christ lived. Major Ian Thomas said it takes God to be a man and Christ lived on earth.

Showing what God Intended man to be like and Adam lost it and We are called to follow in his footsteps. But often these kind of statements can become just Nice spiritual words, but how do you translate that following in the footsteps of Christ?

Christ as the Light and Model for Christian Living

The old covenant that's the Old Testament the word Became the light. Thy word is a light unto my path but in the New Covenant It is not rules and regulations. Do this don't do this commandments. Know our light in the New Testament.

It is Jesus said I am the light of the world in him was Life and the life was the light of men. You are called to follow not a bunch of rules and regulations and Seek your own righteousness somehow. Thinking that you will make it but rather you are called.

And I am called to follow Him and become like him. He is our model as we follow him. We become like him for Jesus said you are the light of the world. What is that? It is not bunch of doctrines and learning Lot of information rather it is the nature it is very life that we live.

No wonder in the book of Acts chapter 17. It is said about these people. These those who turn the world upside down. They have come here. Also the lifestyle the way they lived became the reason for people to testify.

Confronting a Comfortable and Compromised Christianity

Like that. I want to read to you Something that really touched my heart. A friend of mine wrote these words. The American Church is experiencing a crisis. For years, we have preached a cheap gospel and peddled a soft Savior.

We have taught salvation without self-denial and crown without the cross. We have catered to the unsaved and compromised with the world now. We are paying the price. Our instant salvation message has dishonored God and confused the world.

Our faulty seeds have produced a flaky harvest. What a pitiful crop we are now reaping as American believers. We spend more hours watching television, but minutes watching in prayer. We are hungry for sports page, but have a little taste for the world.

We spend more money on pet food than on four missions. Love to feast but hate to fast. We welcome God's blessings, but we are weary of his burdens. Is this what Jesus died for? Is this our new life in him?

Stop for a moment and think. Anyone who spends more time playing video games Than seeking God prayer has no right to call Jesus Lord. Anyone who takes delight in today's perverted soap operas is serving another God.

Anyone who cannot die to sports for a season is worshiping idols. If anyone loves the world The love of the Father is not in him because the friendship with this world is hated toward God in 1st John and James.

In reality whose friends are we? It is time for some serious soul-searching. What kind of born-again experience? How we had if it calls for almost no personal sacrifice. Produce virtually no separation from the world and breeds practically no hated for sin.

How can we claim to be born again? Where there's no evidence to show for in our daily walk. We call ourselves Citizens of heaven yet. Our hearts are caught up in the earthly treasures. We sing we are the people of God, but we are Entertained by the worst of the devil's children.

We claim to be dead to the world yet. We are more interested in temporal fashions than eternal souls. Something is wrong with our salvation experience. Bad fruits means bad roots. We say Just confess Jesus as Lord and you are in.

He says. Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. But only he who does the will of my father in heaven we say Just pray this prayer. And it is done he says. If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take a piss cross daily and then he must follow me.

We say Just come to the altar it only will take a minute he says make every effort to Enter through the narrow door because many I tell you will try to enter and will not be able to. Do you think he is right?

The Futility of a Life Without Eternal Perspective

I? Don't know where you are. But during the years of my personal crisis 30 years ago in my spiritual walk in the midst of Seminary education and being a pastor I Remember sitting in my room in Dallas Writing something with my most expensive best loved Mont Blanc fountain pen.

Why you want to spend $360 to buy a fountain pen. Dumb. I did it Because I was in Germany married to a German Strange the way God speaks. I'm not a spooky guy looking for science and wonders and lights, and I'm just a normal hamburger guy and french fries.

But I remember In my agony searching for God to talk to me. He did something very strange it was as though he just walked up to that table and stood beside me and Said these words that I heard from my heart.

So like that pen I said of course I do. I Still have the pen by the way, and I looked at it the next question. So hundred years from now who's gonna use it. I? Said what? He didn't say one more word. I was left alone in the room.

Take me hours. Finally I would go down on my knees. Weeping you young people. You think you are the king the king you can do anything you have dreams made up imaginations whatever a Million years from now what does it matter?

And I say this to you because you are living with a phony Plastic superficial Christianity that says God is so desperate Waiting for you to come and do something for him. Don't make a mistake. Be frightened about the prospect of a life wasted here on earth and Then look back in eternity and regret over a wasted life because you have followed in the footsteps.

Maybe your parents your grandparents or rich and famous you never understood the significance of Giving you a life so completely and totally to him who died on the cross for you, and you have no right To be the Lord and the master of your life if you think it is a game.

You are the one making the mistake.

The Call to Self-Renunciation and Conversion

Whatever George, what will happen to be? My Leader. I more laughter a lot and love him respect him and in one of his teachings he quartered Ha1 Hawkins, and then I got this court, and I just want to read this for you.

I'm sure you heard it if you had him speak here most probably. It says he looks today as he ever looked. Not for crowds drifting aimlessly in his track. But for individual men and women whose undying allegiance will spring from their having.

Recognized that he wants those who are prepared to follow the path of self-renunciation. Which he trod himself. I? Just want to make a few statements in the way of application before we pray. One are you born again?

Do you know him? Some of the most lost people going to hell are people who are born and raised in Christian homes. Missionary skits you know everything you know the right words the lingo, but you never been truly converted because you continue to live in sin and Compromise saying I'm not going all the way and then you read articles and books to help you to rationalize Your lifestyle that nobody knows about.

Think about it. Maybe you have never known him because you cannot be his and continue live in sin. If you are not sure. If you die today, you are not sure about seeing him face to face and be with him.

I plead with you As a brother in the Lord. Repent and turn your life over to him your spirit dead and Christ came to light the candle. You cannot make it on your own. He did it all. It is not just saying Jesus and the four spiritual laws know it is taking time to process information and realize the prospect of going to hell and After 10 billion trillion years you'll be crying out.

Not for a drop of water like the rich man went to hell, but for death, and you will not find it. It is not a joke. Hell is the real place people will go to spend a place. There's no time and we must fear God and Jesus died for you and gave his life and fall at his feet repent and forsake sin and say Jesus my life with all I am I am yours and Publicly declare he is your Lord.

Get saved. You can find some older brother some professor some sister. You can talk to even if you fail in your exam here and fail at Taylor University. You will not under fail in knowing God as your Savior.

Cultivating a Life of Prayer and Fasting

Second. You say you know the Lord and you're born again wonderful. I am glad. Would you come to yourself to a life of prayer serious prayer. Did you know a study shows that America pastors pray less than 12 minutes a day and Believers pray less than eight minutes a day and you are an incredible place.

It's university. Where do you have so much time he said? So much that you don't know my professor. He gives me a million pages to read. The speed read. Get the alarm clock and turn it on to wake you up 2 in the morning.

You heard me, right? And you said Lord, I'm going to sleep. But I like to get up 2 in the morning. I want to talk to you and let the alarm go off. Or whatever you can do to wake up wash your face of cold water and kneel by the chair and start praying and talk to him and Listen and he'll talk back to you.

Get to know God. Oh How I wish how I wish as young as you are. You will learn to spend an hour An hour and a half with God rather than spending with your boyfriend a girlfriend. It means everything in the long run.

Why don't take one day of the week for fasting? You will not die if you die through one day fasting you please let me know. I reimburse it. You will not why? God is looking for us to get to know him intimately.

So so that he can also infuse into us our heart his pain. For this world like the kids. It's not money. It is not check. It is not you go for two months. That's all good. Do it. But more of the heart because He tells you something.

Evangelism as a Christian Vocation

And I'm sitting next to me was lady going to Delhi India. To loan to India 600 million dollars from World Bank or something. I looked at her and I looked at her. I said I can talk to her. And the Lord said well.

This is maybe the only chance she will have. You are here, and I pulled out my gospel cracks. I Thought at least I can do that. As you know I got something nice. He'd like to read it. She said what is this.

I said, oh you like it. You think it's easy for me to talk to people stranger. At the hamburger shop and the airplanes and trains and buses and market places. It's not. But I must not be ashamed. And I talked to her.

I mean she didn't fall down and repent and she said oh, I'll think about all these things. I don't want talking to a young girl flying from Toronto to Dallas and the flight was going on to Los Angeles and She started drinking like a fish.

Yes, and I said young lady you're drinking too much. She's I'm scared. I said what are you scared about. I said she said every time I get in the plane I I think it's gonna crash. I'm gonna die. I Looked at her said you know what as long as I am on this flight.

Nothing is gonna happen to you. She looked at me said who are you. I? Pulled out a gospel tract and She almost prayed and gave her life to Christ. Listen to me. What the what profession you are heading for a doctor lawyer engineer whatever crazy thing you are dreaming about.

That is your vocation your call on earth to be his representative. When you go to get a hamburger get the hamburger give the money. Get a gospel tract when you're in the airplane when you are you know wherever.

I mean you're gonna watch a Nice movie. I didn't go to those things, but I had to put a nice word in it, you know. So I don't get kicked out of here. Be willing to use that opportunity give a gospel tracts and talks to people.

The Urgency of Witnessing and Supporting Missions

If I ask you when was the last time you witnessed to someone about Jesus Christ? You claim to know him and those people are dying left and right 80 ,000 a day and plunge into eternity without Christ and you are the only hope and you keep your mouth shut.

You say someday. I'm going to go with Y1. Someday. I'm going to go to Africa someday. I'm going to serve God listen. Let the someday come later. You do something right now. I ask you To be sober about getting engaged in witnessing.

You don't know how to get a gospel tract it. Let us know we'll give you a million. Let us send some money. And write the names of ten people that do not know the Lord and pray for them every day. How the joy of thinking that someday I'm going to stand before my Lord with people.

That I led to him and the families and people that came to know the Lord through my life on earth. And some of you should be thinking about giving your life full-time to serve God. You know what hey, can I ask you something?

Some people say you know what I am. I am praying and asking God for guidance. What full-time service full-time missionary work. I won't ask you. How much fasting and praying you did to go and work for a bank?

To teach at a place or be an engineer. What a what a crazy way look at things I Would ask you to think about saying Lord all I want is to serve you somewhere with my life the highest call on Planet Earth.

If if that is not there, then okay, I'll go and work At a bank or be a doctor or something. I was telling people last night. You know my daughter married a medical doctor, and I remember talking this young man.

Six months prior to finalizing everything I see. I just want to ask you Danny. What is your life all about? You're a medical doctor. He said you know what. I went to study medicine because the Lord told me to do this.

But really my call is to be a witness and serve him everywhere. I go, but being a doctor. That's my vocation. I Allowed him to marry my daughter. For materialism Will keep you from following your God.

Using Wealth for the Glory of God

Jesus said you cannot serve God and money listen. Some of you say I don't know that probably I don't have much money, but what about your longing? How do you handle your resources right now? Don't make your decisions based on how much money you are going to make from that profession or job.

You will rather walk on earth with empty pockets. With Jesus and live and die for him and give your life to make money and riches. It's not worth it. But if you're making a million no problem you spend that money for the glory of God.

I not against rich people or people are lots of money. Number five. Make up your mind to be his. Recently my wife talked to a young girl who are struggling about either she must listen to her friends and Lot of noises about her Future or she must follow the Lord and my wife asked Let me ask you.

What is you think the Lord wanted to do? She said I know he wanted me to serve him, but my parents and my friends. They don't believe like that and Gisela said The Bible verses I read for you. She read it to her and said I tell you what you make up your mind.

This is going to be difficult. Pain and sorrow and loneliness rejection, but it's worth it if you don't don't worry about it. Jesus still loves you. He's not against you, but once you make up your mind I'm not going to continue this friendship with this girl.

Because she's not one that helped me to fulfill the call. I will not maintain this friendship with this boy. No matter how handsome and rich he may be because this is not what my Lord is wanting from me.

I will not be partner with any of this stuff going on anymore this music this book this entertainment because My call is different. You better make up your mind to be his. You will have No more to struggle like you're struggling now this way and that way and every way.

Like this, you know by far the majority of people today are wasting their lives living for themselves. But today on the road to reality, we've seen just how great an impact we can have if we live for Christ.
