Several members of Sunnyside Baptist Church sharing their musical talents to the glory and praise of God in this Night of Praise
Sunday Night, October 25 PM
- 04:34
- Well, good evening, Sunnyside. This was just a mic test, can you all hear it?
- 04:42
- Well, we haven't done this in too long, and so we're glad to do this, and for all of you here in the live flesh, and for those of you watching on livestream, that was an echo through the iPhone if you didn't hear that.
- 04:59
- I just want to welcome you and thank you for those who are participating this evening. I know many of you practiced and were prepared.
- 05:06
- I do have instructions for those of you who are participating, so if you have the order of service, the person in front of you, when they come down to go to the stage, would you go ahead, you behind them, go ahead and sit down front.
- 05:23
- That way, we don't have a lag between those times, okay?
- 05:28
- Does that make sense? Okay. Well, we want to start this evening with a song that was requested.
- 05:40
- How many of you in this room remember Doris Holman? Doris was
- 05:46
- Patti Hines' mom, and it was her favorite song. And we want to start with that song, and we're going to be in hymn number 59.
- 05:56
- So any time during our music times when a request would take, Doris would never state the word, the name of the song.
- 06:05
- She'd just go, 59. And so it was always fun to have her do that.
- 06:11
- So we're going to start with the first, we'll sing the three verses, and if you would, we'll let you sit for now, but we will be standing later, all right?
- 06:23
- Y 'all good with that? Oh, look, we've got a special guest with us tonight. I sing the mighty power of God that made the mountains rise, that spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies.
- 06:50
- I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day.
- 06:59
- The moon shines full at his command, and all the stars obey.
- 07:09
- I sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food.
- 07:17
- He formed the creatures with his word and then pronounced them good.
- 07:26
- For now thy wonders are displayed, what e 'er
- 07:32
- I turn my eye, if I survey the ground
- 07:38
- I tread or gaze upon the sky.
- 07:45
- There's not a plant or flower, people, but makes thy glories known.
- 07:54
- And clouds arise and tempests blow, I order from thy throne.
- 08:03
- While all that borrows life from thee is ever in thy care.
- 08:12
- And everywhere that men can be, thou,
- 08:18
- God, art present there. Brother Dwight, are you ready?
- 08:28
- Our scripture reading tonight is from 1
- 08:46
- Samuel chapter 29 through chapter 30 verse 6.
- 09:01
- Now the Philistines had gathered all their forces at Aphek, and the
- 09:06
- Israelites were encamped by the spring that is in Jezreel. As the lords of the
- 09:12
- Philistines were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were passing on in the rear with Achish, the commanders of the
- 09:22
- Philistines said, What are these Hebrews doing here?
- 09:29
- And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me now for days and years?
- 09:40
- And since he deserted to me, I have found no fault in him to this day.
- 09:47
- But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him, and the commanders of the
- 09:52
- Philistines said to him, Send the man back, that he may return to the place to which you have assigned him.
- 10:01
- He shall not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us.
- 10:08
- For how could this fellow reconcile himself to his Lord? Would it not be with the heads of the men here?
- 10:16
- Is not this David, of whom they sing to one another in dances?
- 10:22
- Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
- 10:29
- Then Achish called David and said to him, As the Lord lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign, for I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to this day.
- 10:50
- Nevertheless, the Lords do not approve of you. So go back now, and go peaceably, that you may not displease the
- 11:00
- Lords of the Philistines. And David said to Achish, But what have I done? What have you found in your servant from the day
- 11:09
- I entered your service until now, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of the
- 11:17
- Lord the King? And Achish answered David and said, I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God.
- 11:26
- Nevertheless, the commanders of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
- 11:33
- Now then, rise early in the morning with the servants of your Lord who came with you, and start early in the morning, and depart as soon as you have light.
- 11:44
- So David set out with his men early in the morning to return to the land of the
- 11:50
- Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel. Now when
- 11:55
- David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, the Amalekites had made a raid against the
- 12:00
- Negeb and against Ziklag. They had overcome Ziklag and burned it with fire, and taken captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great.
- 12:12
- They killed no one, but carried them off and went their way. And when David and his men came to the city, they found it burned with fire, and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
- 12:28
- Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep.
- 12:36
- David's two wives also had been taken captive, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel.
- 12:45
- And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters.
- 12:56
- But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. May the
- 13:03
- Lord bless the reading of his word. Let us pray. Father, I thank you and I praise you for your word.
- 13:10
- As you have recorded it for us, to enlighten us and to be an encouragement to us.
- 13:18
- And I thank you for these words regarding your servant David, the king.
- 13:26
- I thank you for his life and the fact that he was a man after your own heart.
- 13:35
- And I pray for each of us. Likewise, may we, each of us, be people after your heart.
- 13:44
- May there be nothing on earth we desire besides you. Bless our time together tonight.
- 13:52
- Help us to sing for your glory. And I pray for each person that's going to share with us tonight, that you bless their efforts to bring you praise and glory and honor.
- 14:09
- In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen. We're going to sing a hymn that is somewhat familiar, but it's a different tune and some of the words are different as well.
- 14:24
- So this is Come Ye Sinners Poor and Wretched. There was handouts at the back, and then it should be up on the screen as well.
- 14:33
- So let's sing this together. Come ye sinners poor and wretched, weak and wounded, sick and small.
- 14:58
- Jesus ready stands to save you, full of pity, joined with power.
- 15:08
- He is able, he is able, he is able.
- 15:16
- He is willing, doubts no more.
- 15:23
- Come ye needy, come and welcome.
- 15:29
- God's free bounty glorify. True belief and true repentance, every grace that brings you nigh.
- 15:43
- Without money, without money, without money.
- 15:51
- Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
- 15:59
- Come ye weary, heavy laden, bruised and broken by the fall.
- 16:09
- If you tarry till you're better, you will never come at all.
- 16:18
- Not the righteous, not the righteous, not the righteous sinners
- 16:28
- Jesus came to call.
- 16:35
- Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness hardly dream.
- 16:45
- All the fitness he requireth is to feel your need of him.
- 16:54
- This he gives you, this he gives you, this he gives you.
- 17:03
- Tis the Spirit's rising beam.
- 17:11
- Love incarnate, God ascended, bleeds the merit of his blood.
- 17:21
- Venture on him, venture wholly, let know of the trust in truth.
- 17:31
- None but Jesus, none but Jesus, none but Jesus can do help the sinners do.
- 18:07
- Deep and wide, deep and wide, there's a fountain flowing deep and wide.
- 18:16
- Deep and wide, deep and wide, there's a fountain flowing deep and wide.
- 18:27
- The joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart, in my heart, down in my heart.
- 18:36
- I got, I got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart, down in my heart to stay.
- 19:23
- During the COVID, I had a lot of songs on my heart. I like to sing praises to him. And the more you know
- 19:29
- Jesus, the more the song I'm going to sing, Oh, to be. Oh, to be like thee, blessed redeemer.
- 19:55
- This is my constant longing and prayer.
- 20:03
- Gladly I'll forfeit all others' treasures.
- 20:09
- Jesus, my perfect likeness to wear.
- 20:18
- Oh, to be, oh, to be like thee, full of compassion.
- 20:29
- Loving, forgiving, tender, and kind.
- 20:35
- Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting.
- 20:43
- Seeking the wandering sinner to find.
- 20:51
- Oh, to be like thee, oh, blessed redeemer.
- 21:04
- Pure as thou art. Come in thy sweetness.
- 21:14
- Come in. Stamp thy goon in.
- 21:39
- Harmless, patient, and brave. Meekly enduring, cruel reproaches.
- 21:52
- Willing to suffer, others to save.
- 22:01
- Oh, to be like thee, while I am pleading.
- 22:09
- Pour out thy spirit. Fill with thy love.
- 22:18
- Make me a temple. Meet for thy dwelling.
- 22:26
- Fit me for life in heaven above.
- 22:36
- Oh, to be like thee. Oh, to be like.
- 22:46
- Blessed redeemer. Pure as thou art.
- 22:56
- Come in thy sweetness. Come in thy full.
- 23:09
- Stamp thy goon in. Deep. I'm going to let y 'all sing with me a couple other songs that the
- 23:25
- Lord put on my heart. Under His Wings. I think the words are going to be up there, but you know this was written by a preacher that was told one day that he can't preach anymore.
- 23:35
- And that's hard for a preacher. That's hard for a singer saying you can't sing anymore. He decided that the
- 23:42
- Lord had something else for him to do. He started writing music and words and this is one of his songs.
- 23:47
- And everybody loves it and loves to sing it because he's going to take care of us no matter what.
- 24:06
- Under his wings I am safely abiding.
- 24:13
- Though the night deepens and tempests are wild.
- 24:19
- Still I can trust him. I know he will keep me.
- 24:26
- He has redeemed me and I am his child.
- 24:34
- Under his wings. Under his wings.
- 24:41
- Who from his love can sever? Under his wings my soul shall abide.
- 24:55
- Safely abide. Under his wings full of refuge in sorrow.
- 25:11
- How the heart yearningly turns to his rest.
- 25:19
- Often when earth has no balm for the weary.
- 25:26
- There I find comfort and there I am.
- 25:36
- Under his wings. Under his wings.
- 25:43
- Who from his love can sever? Under his wings my soul shall abide.
- 25:59
- Safely abide. It's in hymnal 351 if you want to look at the hymnal.
- 26:28
- With Jesus my death reckoned. Jesus a new life divine.
- 26:41
- Looking to Jesus till glory does shine.
- 26:49
- Mom is love.
- 27:17
- Looking to Jesus till glory does shine.
- 27:34
- Never a trial let man share his care.
- 28:23
- Looking to Jesus till glory does shine.
- 28:46
- Kids in TAG should know this because I sent these words to you right after TAG was over.
- 28:52
- Glorify thy name. It's a course about God the Father, Jesus and the
- 28:58
- Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Glorify thy name in all the earth. That's what we want to see.
- 29:03
- Glorify thy name. Father, worship and adore you.
- 29:19
- Glorify thy name. Glorify thy name.
- 29:57
- Jesus, we love you. We worship and adore you.
- 30:10
- Glorify thy name. Worship and adore you.
- 31:48
- We have time for one request. So whoever is quick with a hand.
- 31:54
- Yes, sir. Amazing Grace. And that would be on page...
- 32:02
- Amazing Grace. We'll sing the first verse. Oh, that was... I tell you.
- 32:09
- I pay her and I, you know, you only get what you get.
- 32:14
- Anybody know what page that's on? 202. 202. How many verses?
- 32:22
- We'll sing the first and last if you don't mind. And then we're going to sing hymn number 56.
- 32:37
- Amazing Grace How sweet the sound
- 32:46
- That saved a wretch like me
- 32:55
- Once was lost
- 33:00
- But now is find
- 33:09
- I see Thousand years
- 33:26
- Bright shining as The sun
- 33:34
- Has days
- 33:40
- To sing God's grace And when we first begun
- 33:57
- Hymn number 56. And I'm going to ask
- 34:04
- Red and Paul, you get ready. So 56.
- 34:10
- How many remember our dear sister Jeanette? Jeanette Renfro loved this song.
- 34:18
- And another request by Patty. And so we wanted to honor that request.
- 34:25
- So it's day by day verses one and two. Day by day and with each passing moment
- 34:37
- Strength I find to make my trials here
- 34:44
- Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment
- 34:51
- I've no cause for worry or for fear
- 34:59
- He's whose heart is kind beyond all measure
- 35:06
- Gives unto each day what he deems best
- 35:16
- Lovingly is part of pain and pleasure
- 35:22
- Mingling toil with peace and rest
- 35:31
- Every day the Lord himself is near me
- 35:38
- With a special mercy for each hour
- 35:45
- All my cares he feigns would bear in cheer me
- 35:53
- He whose name is counselor and power
- 36:01
- The protection of his children's treasure
- 36:10
- Is a charge that on himself we lay
- 36:17
- As your days your strength shall be in measure
- 36:26
- This the pledge to me He keeps on blessing.
- 37:00
- We had another one with a message in there with it.
- 37:12
- We're singing here, you know, singing God's praises. He keeps on blessing. I'm going to keep on singing and so forth.
- 37:18
- The song we're going to sing takes the other side of the river.
- 37:27
- We're going to sing them in glory someday. So that's what we're going to try to do for you right here. I've done a lot of singing and praising the
- 37:50
- Lord I've done a lot of praying too Someday my praying's going to come to an end
- 37:58
- But I'll sing with the faithful and true Going to lay aside every burden
- 38:04
- I bear Everything that's caused me to pray I'll join in that heavenly choir up above And sing on in glory someday
- 38:17
- And oh what a wonderful, wonderful day That day is going to be
- 38:24
- When all God's children are all gathered home We'll be shouting out the victory
- 38:30
- Hallelujah Going to be an end to my trouble and care
- 38:36
- God is going to dry my eyes Going to take ahold of my trembling hand
- 38:43
- And lead me to the sweet by and by And oh what a wonderful, wonderful day
- 38:58
- That day is going to be When all God's children are all gathered home
- 39:06
- We'll be shouting out the victory Hallelujah Going to lay aside every burden
- 39:14
- I bear Everything that's caused me to pray I'll join in that heavenly choir up above And sing on in glory so Sing on in glory so Sing on in glory someday
- 39:29
- When we went to El Reno back in 2000
- 40:05
- We, just don't talk right now You bum -fuzzle me Just shh, problem
- 40:12
- But after a couple of years there We inherited a wonderful deacon from another church
- 40:19
- It was Henry Moore He's an M in JKM Jewelry If you ever go over there And Henry unfortunately died
- 40:28
- Two or three years later And I preached his funeral But this song that you're about to sing with me
- 40:35
- I learned it when we went there And of course at that church I had to do my own music So I didn't want to sit and play the piano for everything
- 40:43
- So I bought a keyboard and made arrangements Where I could just push a button And this song came out with It's going to have a rhythm you've never heard before I don't think
- 40:53
- But after Henry came He pretty soon became one of the men That took up the offering So three of our guys would be standing in the back
- 41:00
- And if I'd play this song, Henry Man, he'd be going So I've nicknamed it the
- 41:06
- Henry Moore two -step And I want you to stand up if you will
- 41:11
- There are five verses And we're going to do the first verse again at the end
- 41:16

- 01:00:28
- Christ the sure and steady anchor In the fury of the storm
- 01:00:42
- My sails have all been torn In the suffering, in the sorrow
- 01:00:51
- When my sinking hopes are few I will hold fast to the anchor
- 01:01:00
- It shall never be renewed Christ the sure and steady anchor
- 01:01:16
- While the tempest rages on When temptation claims the battle
- 01:01:25
- And it seems the night has won Deeper still then goes the anchor
- 01:01:34
- Though I justly stand accused I will hold fast to the anchor
- 01:01:43
- It shall never be renewed Christ the sure and steady anchor
- 01:01:59
- Through the floods of unbelief Hopeless somehow, oh my soul now
- 01:02:09
- Lift your eyes to Calvary This my ballast of assurance
- 01:02:18
- See His love forever proved I will hold fast to the anchor
- 01:02:27
- It shall never be renewed Christ the sure and steady anchor
- 01:02:43
- As we face the wave of death When these trials give way to glory
- 01:02:53
- And we draw our final breath We will cross that great horizon
- 01:03:02
- Clouds behind and life secured And the calm will be the better For the storms that we endure
- 01:03:17
- Christ the sure of our salvation Ever faithful, ever true
- 01:03:27
- We will hold fast to the anchor It shall never be removed
- 01:03:56
- We're going to close with a doxology And if you would stand, Abby and Megan are going to lead us in that God, from whom all blessings flow
- 01:04:25
- Praise Him, all grievers here behold
- 01:04:33
- Praise Him, above ye heavenly host
