1 Corinthians 15 and the Centrality of the Resurrection

First Corinthians chapter 15. Now there was some confusion. That maybe we should have been at 14, but 15 is where we are moreover brethren. I Declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you. Which also you have received and where you stand I have not changed.

I still preach the same gospel. Paul preached the same gospel as long as he lived. Declare unto you the gospel. I make once more a statement of the gospel. He feels this with special reference to the one and great foundation and doctrines the resurrection.

Without the resurrection there would have been nothing with the being born of a virgin. Dying the death that he did Would have been meaningless if he had not had the resurrection. We founded our church upon that and all of our hopes rest upon the resurrection.

By which also you are taken are saved if you keep in memory what I preached unto you Unless you have believed in vain. He says I know that you knew at one time. But false teachers have come in and led you astray.

By which also you are saved. Are in a saved state unless you have forgotten the gospel preached and you've departed from it. Unless their faith is vain, which he shows would be the case If there was no resurrection.

If there was no resurrection We would be here Under false pretenses. For I believed unto you first of all. I delivered unto you first of all That which I also received. Paul simply conveyed it. That he had received to them.

Christ Died, Was Buried, and Rose Again According to the Scriptures

How that Christ died for our sins. We're at 15 David according to the scripture By revelation of God himself Not from man. That Christ died for our sins the death of Jesus Christ as a vicarious sacrifice for sin for and That he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scripture.

That is he should rise from the dead was foretold in scripture. It is not Repeated that he would not predicted that he would remain in the earth three days it is stated that he would rise again five and that he was seen of Cephas then the twelve now the twelve Is not the twelve.

This is the way they were known as the twelve. They were not all present who was absent Judas. For after he was seen of above five hundred brethren At once of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Now he appeared unto five hundred all at once. We do not know where this took place. It's possible that it took place in Galilee where Christ Repeatedly did directed his disciples together, but we don't know.

After that he was seen of James then of all of the Apostles and Last of all he was seen of me also. As one born out of time, what does he mean born out of time? Bill. He's a test. He was actually the last.

Well, it might but what do we mean out of time. Well He can't mean that because he was born at the appointed time from Paul's viewpoint. He was born late. He was born after the twelve had been chosen.

He did not become an apostle during Christ's earthly stay. But he was appointed by Christ. Now Clarence, how could that be? Is that the only time? All right for at least Of the Apostles for I am least of the Apostles.

How many of us can agree with that? But I labored more abundantly than they all yet not I. But the grace of God which was within me. How many of us can say that some of you don't have? Assurance. Do you realize that you're here by the grace of God that you do what you do by the grace of God.

We look to him for the big things in our life. The wars Catastrophes that take place. But when it comes to the little bitty things, we just wring our hands sometimes. Because I don't see how he's gonna take care of this.

Does he control it all. Now, you know that why don't you act like that all of the time? Well, you should have already learned that. Nor Have I been unfaithful to the divine call. I used the grace of God which he gave me.

And when the labors travel labors travel and sufferings are considered. It will be evident that I have labored more abundantly than the old twelve. This was most literally true Paul. They all gave their life except John.

I'm gonna bring if I can remember next week bring you the death. You may all know it but I Need a refreshing. Yet it was not I But the grace of God. It was not through my own power or wisdom that I performed these things.

Great. I think we'd have to agree the same thing. I'm not smart enough To do what I do but through the divine influence which accompanied me 11. Therefore Whether it were I or they so we preach and so we believe regardless of who it is.

We preach it and we believe it. When is belief belief and does belief become belief you rely on it. All right. It's not belief until you act on it. You rely on it. You can say it's belief. You can do everything in the world to prove its belief.

But not until you act on it. Do you really believe it? Whether it were I are they all of the Apostles of Christ agree in the same doctrines? We all preach one and the same thing and as we preach so you believe.

Having received from us the true apostolic faith that Jesus died for our sins and rose again for our justification and That his resurrection is the pledge and proof of ours. Whoever teaches contrary to this Does not preach the true apostolic doctrine.

Anybody preaching? Anything different Is wrong. Verse 12. Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead how say some among you That there is no resurrection of the dead. He just flat-out asks them If this be preached that Christ died from the dead.

Why is it some of you asks or believe that he did not die? But if there be no resurrection of the dead then is Christ not risen. Stating stated the direct evidence for the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

Proceeds here to demonstrate that the dead would rise by showing how it followed from the fact that the Lord Jesus had risen and by showing that Consequences would follow from denying it. The whole argument is based on the fact that the Lord Jesus had risen.

If that was admitted he shows that it must be followed that his people would also arise. Now you cannot have the resurrection of Jesus and not the resurrection of his people. But if Christ be not risen Then as our preaching vain and your faith is also vain.

We're just spinning our wheels. We're not Teaching you anything. There seems to have been some that Corinth who? Though they denied resurrection Admitted that Christ had risen again. How could you do that?

How could you? Not deny the resurrection how could you deny the resurrection and Admit that Christ was not risen. When you travel do you attend churches other places. I thought being I was the only one didn't travel.

Well It's hard to find a church that believes like this church. It's fired hard to find a group of people That all believe as you do. The Apostles argument goes therefore to state that if Christ was raised from the dead Mankind may be also raised.

If mankind cannot be raised from the dead Then the body of Christ was never raised. Since the body of Christ was raised bodily. Then we too will be raised bodily. Yeah, and we found false witnesses of Christ.

Because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ whom he raised not up if so be that he'd. That the dead rise not he's going over the same argument. He's proving that Christ did rise if the dead rise not.

If the notion of a resurrection be as they say Observed and Impossible for if the dead rise not then is not Christ rise raised. Either he was raised or he wasn't raised. Such a case never occurred and never can occur.

The testimony therefore concerning the resurrection of Christ is Inconvertibly true 17. And if Christ be not raised your faith is vain. You are yet in your sins, how can you think that you would go to heaven?

That he would call you home if he was not resurrected. He's weakened. I think at that time There was enough witnesses still around that the Christian Church and these non-believers didn't want to argue that Christ wasn't risen.

Because he died and he appeared to 500 people and thousands of others. And died a patient so there they were saying well he arose. But all the others who died after him where they at they haven't apparently haven't risen.

Because we don't we haven't seen them. There's not been witnesses of them. Where did they go if they rose after they died? Therefore he may have been able to do it himself, but he couldn't do it for the others and what Paul is saying If you have a faith You've all his preacher says if I can do it myself I can also do it for you, and you believe in me no one will honorize the dead which is documented at that time.

But you will also. That's right. You just couldn't see where they had gone. That's right because they were not walking around. Because they're not here. Because we can't see them. They don't exist. Yes.

That's true, but you were very particular where you went were you not? Well it was just the Lord. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If Christ did not resurrect. Secondly unless it is certain that the church rose again All those who died in Christ have perished so then What profit comes from the faith?

If looking on the earthly things. When a person when a Christian dies, I don't see him anymore. Then he doesn't exist. This is looking strictly from an earthly viewpoint 19. If in this life only we have hope in Christ We are of all men most miserable.

The third argument, which is also taken from absurd absurdity. For unless there is another life in which those who trust and believe in Christ Will be blessed. They are the most miserable of All creatures because in this life they would be the most miserable.

If in this life, you're not happy. You're not joyful. If you're not looking forward to another life, then what do you have? You die and go away. But now is Christ risen From the dead and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

He comes back to the argument that Christ did die and It has been proven on the contrary. Christ is raised from the dead and has become the firstfruits of them that slept. Now what made Jesus the first begotten up at the last?

Lazarus was dead and lived again. That's right. But they didn't have what? That's right. That's right. First Corinthians 21 for since if by man came death then by man also came the resurrection of the dead man spoke or brought death into the family.

Now David, when did he do that? Why did God tell him did he eat it and death followed? So it is by man. Jesus he had to be a man. That immortality came for as an Adam all die even so in Christ shall be all be made alive.

It'll find its Ultimate fulfillment when Christ comes and they shall rise to meet him in the air. When's that going to be. Fred is not death a type of resurrection brother. Barney is already there. My mother is already there.

We'll soon be there, but every man in his own order. Christ the firstfruits afterward. Afterward they that are Christ in his at his coming. What does it mean but every man in his own order? Greg yes. Everybody will be resurrected someday.

The Saints were in paradise. Abraham's bosom wherever that is. Then when he ascended to the father he Went to paradise. He didn't go to hell. He went to paradise and took the captives. Free set them free took them to heaven.

So the answer to your question was that they were all someplace very pleasant waiting then all of the dead in Christ went to heaven and Are forever with Christ. Those of us that remain Will be caught up and meet with them.

They come back to get their new body. Then we all are changed. We that are alive are changed in a moment and a blinking of an eye and Taken to be with Christ forever. So Everybody that died before the cross waited until the cross and We all went home.

Christ is subject to God Jesus. I believe this means he has finished his millennial ring. He returns back to his place in the Godhead where he was in the beginning. 29. Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead?
