The Difficulty of Entering the Strait Gate Told me one time, He believed hell, The Lord beat you to it, Not every one that saith unto me, The kingdom of heaven, But who shall, He that doeth, The will say to me, In that day, Lord, Aren't these, The plain words, Many will say to me, In that day, Lord, Have we not prophesied, In thy name, And in thy name, Have cast out, The demons, And in thy name, Done many wonders, Under them, I noticed, He wouldn't be here, Without this straight gate, Men and women, To agonize, He needs to be, In the first place, West Virginia, Some years since, I was, Preaching away, The best I could, And after the, Pink cheeks, And white hair, Snow white hair, Came up to me, In all of the, Modesty, And humility, And good sense, Said young brother, Heard S -T -R -E -I -T, Me, I'd listen, And I wasn't being smart, He said, Means difficult, Enter, In, Enter, You're unanimous, Don't think the Lord, Knew what he's talking, A Christian, We've been hearing, Strange, We'll have you done, Stay, I'll be free, And don't need anybody, To give preaching, Of election, It is a humbling thing, That men and women, That they had to, To back up their actions, They had to take, The Lord Jesus Christ, Delicious hams, Men more, Than the descendants, Of Abraham, That they needed, Nobody to set them free, From the bondage of sin, It's like a fellow saying, I believe, He brings this, God, And the God of, That in all, You'd have Abraham's words, This morning, In which at the same time, Is the most, Crime, Isn't that, Had an easy, Believism, At the gate, That must be entered, Is, Deadly, That have, Easy a turn, Laid down by, These next few statements, That you can, Discipline, Go to him, Man, Let the kingdom of, Come after me, And deny himself, Some of the things, It does put him, That's a crime, Under the flesh, Now you shall reap, Of the thunder, The spirit, I'm quoting Romans 8, 13, And concern, The next one, Do not believe, That the gate, Is as, They have to do, To be what we call, Saved, To be what we call, Come to him, Believingly, Come to him, From the hating of, God, That men still, Is a different life, And having a, Different master, Men say to me, Brother Barn, I'm not ready, They don't want to live right, They don't want to be made, Try to get him, To come to Jesus, Anyhow, They got more sense, Than you've got, They know it'd be, A matter, For anybody, He said he hates, Claiming to get, Relief, I beg your attention, This morning, Not something new, But something old, Is that this, Straight, Is to get in, The loop, Chapter 13, Those words, To enter in, At the, S -T -R -A -I -T, Straight gate, And then he gives, These words, That I expect, If I understood, And wondered, To enter in, At the straight gate, And he gives, The reason, For the agony, And the striving, To get in, This is the reason, For many, Not being, I'll choose up, To the 13th, Chapter of the gospel, Women, Boys, And girls, Their familiarity, Way to hell, They should, And warn, Try to get in, This gate, Not going to be able, To preach, And these radio, Preachers, You know, Making fun, Of the truth, That if you wanted, To be saved, You'd be saved, But the Lord, Said, See people, Switching their gums, From one jaw, To the other, Taking Jesus, Now, And going right, Back out, And living the same, Kind of life, They've always lived, That their blessed, Lord Jesus, Could get their attention, For just the agony, Many, Are going to make, A little effort, Make a little, Profession, On this path, Of getting in, This straight gate, I think, There's no more, Expressive word, In the bible, In Matthew 23, 13, The Lord said, But who, Under you, Strives, And Pharisees, Hypocrites, For you shut up, The kingdom, Of heaven, Against men, For you neither, Go in yourselves, Neither ye, Suffer ye, Them, That are entering, To go in, In my Lord's day, The religious leaders, Were refusing, To make an effort, To go in the gate, And they were doing, That deadly, God is my judge, This morning, The religious atmosphere, Of America, In our churches, Is an atmosphere, Of the Lord's, The plain word, And the constant, What I'm saying, This morning is, If you get in, To meet opposition, In your family, In your church, And in your business, Walk a knife, When they die, When they get in, Just to hear about it, You have to get in it, Now a gate, Like a door, They shut that door, A while ago, Shutting out, Or opening up, He that leads to life, Ever barred, From eternal glory, Welcome to do this, To one another, To God, You say, Well brother Barnett, I don't agree, Maybe you could be right, That's happened many times, You better be right, And you better understand, People say, He'd want to be, He'd want, For he knows, That whatever the attitude, Of the people might be, Before almighty God, As long as I'm alive, That I'll do business, With the holy God, The judgment, I say in these last, That won't be any Sunday, Afternoon picnic, That'll be a, What is involved, In entering, This, That a man, Claims to be, A book of instructions, To hear, I cannot believe, He's got in this gate, Could a man, Believe it can be done, Listening, Down here, To the hundred and twenty, Church, At that point, With a hundred and twenty, Went right ahead, Doing what, The hundred and twenty, In four things, The first one I mentioned, In the apostles, Doctrine, The apostle teaching, That the apostles teaching, Was nothing, Except Christ, And the job to do, And we've got it in this book, Come to you this morning, I'll try and sell you a bill of goods, Weep in my heart, Do not continue, Steadfast, Sitting at the feet, Of the Lord, Jesus, He and his other self, Take the things, Of Christ, I walk, Searching flesh, There may be some, Demands of almighty God, Responsible for the same, Think that a pattern, Of what it means, To be right, With the righteous, Demands of God, And his insistence, Upon our depraved state, And our wicked enmity, Against him, No man, Can become a Christian, While he entertains, Any doubt, Upon the authority, Of the Bible, That's pronounced, Upon him and his son, A man must come, Utterly, To feel his lostness, Before he'll desire, God's salvation, A man, Must accept, Our guiltiness, Within this gate, I go to churches, I say this, With a keen record, Some churches, Have what to call, A six point ten, A fifteen, A twenty percent, On your record, That Sunday, If you bring the Bible, If you don't practice that, You've been where they did, And I've actually, Been in churches, Where the church, Had to buy, Keep them on the premises, And pass them out, To the people, So they could say, That they brought a Bible, Doesn't that reveal, The private mess, That this blessed book, That contains in it, The teachings, Of the little heart, In entering this straight gate, Come unto me, All ye, And the heavenly Lord, Institutes, Colleges, Churches, Abdicated, These young people, Are going to be sent off, To a Bible school, It's because our churches, They're better than, God, Was telling me, That you meet, On Wednesday night, And study the book of Romans, He said the attendance, Was increasing, But he also, About one half, A little more, Than one half like that, Constituted, Around here, That are not Bible, How could it be, Done what the Lord, To the Bible institute, Over whom Jesus Christ, The second thing, That's involved, In entering this gate, Is the true exercise, Of repentance, When the Lord, Came on the scene, He began to preach, Repent, And believe the gospel, Jesus sent John the Baptist, To say repent, He sent John the Baptist, To make ready a people, To receive Christ, When he did come, The readiness, Consents, Cleansing, For it's not less holy, Than the law, The will is firm, And sincere, In his resolution, Against all, Blessed Spurgeon, This Baptist quote today, But will not, Spurgeon said, You and your sins, Must separate, All be given up, They must be brought out, Like the Canaanites, King from the cave, And hanged up, Before the sun, It is by, Abandoning one's idols, One can get in, The straight gate, The second thing, That's involved, In getting in, This difficult gate, First is accepting, The teachings, Of his author, For shame, And the third, Is to conform, To almighty God, Receive him, As his holy teachings, Are really accepted, By our conscience, Cleansing blood, And the sincerity, Of our acceptance, Of him as our savior, Our readiness, To submit, To the king, Of righteous, Hear me this last word, Christ, Cleansing blood, Is available, To none, To throw down, The weapons, Of their warfare, Against God, Please, Enter in, I hear people, And I hope, Then in their heads, They say, Brother Preacher, Lord save, The women living farm, And I want to, Rededicate myself, That they're better, As I hope I am, In my heart, Relationship, To Christ, And in my dumb head, Nobody ever, Has got saved, Yet, But for some, Sixty years, All we've offered, Is a scapegoat, To keep men, Out of hell, And people say, Well I accept, That Jesus is, But you don't get, In the straight gate, And you can't, Take yourself, On conditional, Surrender, You and it, Will not be done, Except, If it be blessed, If a mother, Go in that gate, For her, Never seen a father, With his heart, Breaking over his, And if he could, He'd go in that gate, For his daughter, Nobody else, Can go in this gate, For her, Mother can't make it, For her, I have sometimes, Sinned against God, The wishing, That I could pick, People up in a basket, And through that gate, And then saying, Number two hundred, And thirty, I'm going to,.
