Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Hello, welcome back to Daily Bites, God's Word. This is Andy Cain, and it is a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 48. It says, And I shall lift up my hands to your commandments, which
I love, and I will muse on your statutes. Now, if you remember last time in verse 47, it says,
I shall delight, or I shall delight myself in your commandments, which I love. And now he repeats this.
And remember, in biblical interpretation and understanding what an author is conveying, if they repeat words or phrases or emphasize certain things, it's usually because they're trying to make a point that this is important.
Pay attention here. And so he says, again, I shall lift up my hands to your commandments, which
I love. He's reemphasizing and repeating here that we are to love the
Word of God. And not just that, when he says talking about lifting up my hands to your commandments, not just bowing oneself down in worship, but also people lift holy hands to the heavens.
It's an act of worship. It's not that we worship the Bible itself. We don't turn the
Bible into an idol by any means. But by lifting up our hands to God's commandments, we're showing an act of worship.
We worship you, O Lord. We worship Yahweh, the one true God. We understand how to worship
Him properly from His commandments and from His Word, which means we love His Word because we love the one who wrote it.
We love the lawgiver. We love the one who gave us God's Word. It is His very
Word. And when it says, I will muse on your statutes, we've already covered this before in Psalm 119 and earlier verses.
To muse means to meditate, to think deeply over, to think about it more than just, okay,
I read a verse, check the box. I'm done for the day. No, really think through it.
So if it says something like, hey, remember in verse 34, I want to keep it with all my heart.
Well, throughout that day, think about it. From the heart of who I am, am I truly invested in His Word?
Am I looking for areas that I need to change or repent or areas that I'm doing well and need to grow?
So that's what he's saying, musing on your statutes, the statutes of God, what God has said, not what man thinks.
That's what gets so many Christians and churches in trouble. They think, well, I think we ought to do this.
Like, it really doesn't matter. It matters what God has said. It's musing over it, understanding it, and following and applying it.
But more than anything, if you truly love the commandments and the Word of God, you're going to naturally want to know it, follow it, meditate on it, and really digest it, if you will.
It's amazing how it can change your life. So that's what I want for you as well. I pray that you love the
Word of God, that you muse over it and think about it. Think about it deeply. Pray over it during your day.
