SERMON: Wisdom And A Trained Mouth
Wisdom does not stop at what we see, hear, love, or think. Eventually, wisdom comes out of our mouths. In this sermon, we turn from the being of wisdom to the doing of wisdom and ask a brutally practical question: How do you train your mouth to be wise? Proverbs teaches us that a wise tongue begins with a trained heart, learns when to hit the brakes, and stations a guard at the gate of the mouth. Our words reveal us, shape our homes, wound or heal the people around us, and often create the very world we later complain about. But the answer is not mere self-control or better communication techniques. Christ gives His people new hearts, His Spirit, and the grace to bring even our tongues beneath His lordship. The mouth that once served sin can become an instrument of wisdom, worship, truth, repentance, and life.
