Hello, welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 39. It says, "'Cause my reproach, which
I dread to pass away, for your judgments are good.'" Amen. Well, it says, "'Cause my reproach.'"
This reproach and this consequence of sin, all these things that we see coming to our lives because of it.
We want to see all that go away. We want to see it fizzle out, be gone, not affect us anymore, because we've recognized that the judgments of God is good.
The judgments that God makes are good, and we want to see his judgments come to fruition.
We want to see his judgments in all areas of life. And yes, we recognize judgments on our sin are paid for on the cross of Calvary, but we do see consequences of our sin.
And we want to see that reproach and just that sting of sin in our life.
It says, "'Which I dread.'" I dread it. I dread that it's there. We talk about this when we mourn over our sin.
We still maybe feel bad about it. We repent of it. We're forgiven. We shouldn't be carrying shame and guilt over it, but sometimes we can think about some of the reproach and the consequences that came as a result.
We think, man, I dread that I was like that. I dread that's what I used to be. But then we need to remind ourselves the judgments of God are good, and one of his judgments is justifying us.
We are justified in Christ. We are free. We are free from sin, from the bondage of sin, and we don't have to live with guilt or shame.
We can live with a healthy viewpoint of ourselves and a healthy understanding of who we are in Christ.
So I pray that's the way you are in your life. I pray that you would never live in just a dread of anything sin -related, that you find sin in your life, repent of it, but then move on and grow in Christ's likeness.
