Hello and welcome back to another edition of This is Why. This week we're talking about something that we've all failed to address in the fight against abortion and that's the topic of fornication and sexual immorality.
00:11
As the church, we've failed to address the reason that many women end up at abortion clinics in the first place.
00:17
Any faithful Christian that fights for the lives of unborn children on the front lines knows that the biggest opposition to our efforts tends to come not from those who are pro -choice but from other professing
00:28
Christians. They'll say things like, your methods are too offensive and that's not how you reach those women, there's actually a better way.
00:36
But the truth of the matter is, whatever is being told to these women in their homes and in their churches every week hasn't been enough to keep them from walking through that door.
00:46
And more fundamentally, it hasn't been enough to keep men and women who profess to know Jesus from defiling their marital beds.
00:53
And so women murder what they consider to be the shame of that union, and men likewise show that they are willing to kill for sex without having to bear any responsibility.
01:04
Much of this has come from what the church has taught about sex. God in His word says,
01:10
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled. And elsewhere, this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the
01:27
Gentiles who did not know God. You see, the Bible is clear that the only context for sex is within the covenant of marriage.
01:34
The sacred act that takes place there is not to be defiled or treated as something common. It's holy and set apart.
01:42
It was created by God as a gift to be enjoyed responsibly between a man and a woman with one of the explicit purposes of having children.
01:51
Responsible sex and children are two things that our current culture hates because they require a world in which each person is not promiscuously pursuing their own raw sexuality with no accountability over their body.
02:05
Essentially, living lives of unbridled passion is those who don't know God. So what we have to own up to as the church is our failure to preach the truth about fornication.
02:16
There's a standard as Christians by which we conduct ourselves because we realize that if we truly know
02:21
Jesus, our bodies don't belong to us. They were bought with a price, and so we must honor
02:28
God with them. We must once again tell our young people that sex is for marriage because God says so.
02:35
We should not tell them to flee sexual immorality for reasons like sex before marriage leads to higher rates of divorce.
02:43
We're Christians, and so we must bring God's word to bear on this topic, or otherwise, all we can expect are worldly solutions, which are only leading to more children being offered up on the altar of convenience.
02:56
If we're going to end abortion, not only do we have to address sexual immorality, but we also must communicate the gospel in such a way that men and women know the only shedding of innocent blood that will atone for their sin is the blood of Jesus, not the blood of their own children.
03:13
Our churches must be the sanctuaries that they seek, instead of trying to find refuge behind the walls of a slaughterhouse where lives and families are destroyed.
03:23
Us who long to be more than just pro -life in our hearts must preach the truth about sexual sin and how it relates to abortion, and we must proclaim clearly the only way for men and women to have their sin forgiven, and that's through the blood of Jesus Christ.
03:39
As the church, and as those who are pro -life, we've failed in this area, and this is why children continue to be put to death.
03:48
They're put to death for the sin of their parents, something that God says we ought never do.
03:54
Please share this video to encourage The Church of Jesus Christ to action in this area, and pray with us that the reason we stop seeing our own sons and daughters at these places of death would be because of the hope and peace that we give them through Jesus Christ and His gospel.
