A Call for Government Accountability at the Council Meeting

Hello, my name is Elaine Stanton. I'm a Phoenix resident, and I'm thankful to stand in front of you with respect to your appointed office. You know the public evaluates the performance of its elected officials by what happens at these meetings.

This is the time to hear citizens and show them that the council is capable of doing its job. I'm a subscriber to the truth of the gospel, God's word, which says that a baby is made in the image of God, and murder is killing of innocent blood.

Abortion is murder. Yes, I'm here to talk about it. I'm going to ask you two questions and present two challenges. Question number one, you have the power and responsibility to protect the citizens of this city, including those without a voice or a vote.

Will you declare Phoenix a sanctuary city, protecting the human rights of all its tiny residents, the pre-born? Will you make this resolution and have it state that innocent human life deserves to be protected, as life is the first declared right in the Declaration of Independence?

I think it's ironic that several other U .S. city councils are declaring their cities sanctuary cities for immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children, but our U .S. cities can't even protect our own pre-born child citizens.

Abortion, Sanctuary Cities, and the Unborn

Question two, we're coming up on 47 years of legal abortion since Roe v. Wade, where Planned Parenthood performs 300 ,000 child murders per year, and Arizona is all aboard, even though we have a law prohibiting abortion, AZ Statute 13 -3603.

Why is this law not enforced? Under this unenforced Arizona law, a person can face time in prison for giving a woman a pill or using an instrument to procure a miscarriage. A woman can face up to five years in prison for soliciting medication or drugs to undergo an operation that will procure a miscarriage.

When you took an oath and were sworn in, was that to uphold the whole law, or was it just to uphold parts of the law? Challenge number one, I know over 40 people who have stood right where I'm standing asking you to uphold AZ 13 -3603.

Oath of Office and a Plea to Abolish Abortion

Mate Kate Gallego, I watched your inauguration speech, and when you took your oath of office, you said, I, Kate Gallego, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution and laws of the state of Arizona, and I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of mayor to the best of my ability, so help me God.

So I challenge you, Mayor, Honorable Representative, to do just that, to uphold AZ Statute 13 -3603, and to protect the unborn citizens of this city. And finally, I plead with you, do not stand for or against the pro-choice or pro-life movements.

Rather, stand up for the truth and abolish abortion in this city, so help you God.
