Self-Acceptance and God’s Transforming Work

Which is very similar to the thesalistic philosophy of the Muslims. In other words, because I've had these problems in my background I'm predetermined to be this kind of person and I won't change. We don't believe that.

We believe God can change us. We believe He can meet that deep, deep need. Because we never had love as a child the way we should have. We believe God can meet that. In fact, we believe that often times.

That can be a help in getting to know God greater. Because there's a vacuum, a greater vacuum Than in a perfectly emotionally stable person. And so God meets that. And then the devil uses our lack of self-acceptance.

This is a major problem. So many girls don't really accept themselves. And this can be difficult, you know that. Aren't there girls who lack self-acceptance? Maybe, even in their own feminine way, try to be a Jewish woman.

Of course, that's enough to put any girl in a mental institution. And there are girls that do not accept Really that they are a girl, not a boy. And subconsciously that can make a real mess out of your inside.

Girls are much more subject to psychosomatic sicknesses than men. There are a number of reasons for that. But I won't go into it now. Except that it's deadly when women, because of shyness or other reasons Bottle things in, keep things in, rather than getting them out somehow.

I'm sure David Hicks' course is on this. And this kind of material is a great help. And I think it's a good thing. Then the devil tries to use our feelings. This is one of our biggest enemies. Especially in this kind of work.

Perseverance in Evangelism, Marriage, and Daily Life

After working so many weeks In any kind of evangelism Your feelings begin to move in different directions. And you know there's a place for God-given sheer perseverance. And you're going to need that someday.

With your little children, and with your husband, and with your home. And I hope you'll develop some of it now, some of the OST. We're immature if we think life in general Is filled with doing things we like to do, and going places we like to go to.

Do you realize most people on this earth Spend most of the day doing something they don't want to do. These thousands of women that chip stone all over Indian streets I don't think they're doing that Because they have a feeling for stone chipping.

But they have a desire to live. And you know here's a big problem with our society. Keith Miller brings this out very clearly In his very good book called The Becomer. Many people, especially poor people in villages Have just a couple of major drives.

One is to get some food. The other is to stay alive To shelter somewhere and stay alive. Basic drives. Now, when you come into the affluent society And you have enough money To meet your needs Then your desires move in a whole new level.

That is much more complicated. And unless there's some discipline It gets more and more complicated. And you keep grabbing for this and that Trying to satisfy these desires. And you never do satisfy. This is why a vast percentage of the women In the affluent society Who have every single woman can ever dream of Are unhappy, taking pills And having nervous breakdowns.

Much more than the village women you can be sure. And one of the things we can teach in O .M. I believe it's valuable. It's simple. If you simplify your life You're going to be happier. You're going to be healthier.

Materialism, Simplicity, and Faith

We think that more possessions And more money Solves our problems. In fact, more possessions Complicate our problems. And we are in this materialistic rat race. And it is one of the biggest reasons That women are not making it in the 20th century.

O .M. India is never going to make it No matter how many improvements we have. If we don't learn how to live by faith Instead of feeling. And this is very important. How many women killed their own baby?

Do you know how many women have testified That they have real difficulty Loving one of their own offspring. Very, very common phenomenon. Many women make the mistake Of also loving one child Much more than they love one of their other children.

Why? One child appeals to them. And there are psychological things involved. And so that discipline you need on that team. That living by faith you need on that team. That's what you also need someday.

When God gives you two or three or four little children That you are to bring up in love. And then we are greatly hindered by lack of vision. Girls more than men tend to live in a small world. And I have seen this with my wife.

World Vision and the Responsibilities of Family Life

Though I think my wife has more world vision than most women. And some of this type of thing that I am going to describe is good. But her world is much smaller than mine. Now I need to try to understand that.

She needs to try to understand me. I am thinking always in big terms. The whole world, the whole world, China, India. All kinds of things. She is thinking about her teapot. She is thinking about her sheets.

She is thinking about the room And the suitcase. All kinds of things. And of course this is good For caring for the family. And we need that. Because we manage terrifically unrealistically. And I am totally inconsistent.

Teapot, it's ridiculous. Don't worry about the teapot. Until the moment that I need cup of tea. Then the world vision is gone. Only one thing at that time My wife must produce instantly a cup of tea. At the right grade, at the right time With the right amount of sugar.

So the kind of men that are being manufactured these days. It is hard for women To have a world vision. And she shouldn't neglect her task at hand. And stick a pin in the baby's bottom While she is playing over a map of the world.

What am I doing? And that is why These are the only things That we need in war. And you won't find it easily. And here in our whole life. Keeping balance is a big struggle. Dr. Schaefer used to say That his biggest struggle Has been keeping balance Between when to study And when to give out.

There are no easy answers To a lot of these things. It's good to talk about it. It's good to have our conferences. It's good to go to school. But there are some of these things There are no easy answers.

The Danger of Making God Too Small

And then lastly I just wrote these words. Because you as a girl Have to live sometimes in a smaller world. Especially when you get married. There is a great danger That you will make God too small. You are in a small world.

So you make a small God. And you limit God in your life. And you limit His power. And you limit the scope of your limits. And this of course is often seen In the way women worry. Men lust and women worry Perhaps the number one enemy.

And worry about it. Because our God is too small. And worry says God. You can't handle this. Too big for you God. That's too complex for you God. This problem of my future. We make a very small God And we worry.

Worry denies the greatness of God. Worry denies the premises of God. Worry denies the presence of God. And I believe if we want to go anywhere We have to declare war on worry. Worry has forced many girls To make a disastrous decision in their life.

And it must be more difficult in India. Tremendous family pressure. How easy that can cause you to make. Of course there are two other words I wrote down here at the very end. They are very basic. But I think they are great enemies.

Selfishness, Lack of Love, and the Cross

Perhaps no need to mention them. In every OM conference they are mentioned Selfishness And lack of love. And that's why the cross is the answer. How easy it is. I must confess After nineteen It's not so easy.

Just like the water To be the greatest challenge in life. Challenge to be loved. I got a long way to go. I hope you'll determine as I have. Many times girls don't. Whatever you do Don't get discouraged.

Prayer for Strength and God’s Greatness

Don't get depressed. Even when you're depressed Don't get depressed. Let's pray. Living God we worship you. Because you have a great plan. You are a great God. Greater than all of our problems Greater than all of our weaknesses Greater than our selfishness Greater than our fears Our inhibitions Our insecurities.

And we lay ourselves at your feet. Give us strength and fear In the days to come. Keep us from these misunderstandings Work in our hearts and minds. In Jesus' name. Amen.
