Hello, welcome back today by it's God's word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again today
We're looking at Psalm 119 verse 55. It says I remember in the night your name
Oh Yahweh, so I keep your law now There's a great cross -reference for this verse in Psalm 63 and we see this in verse 6 of Psalm 63
It says when I remember you on my bed. I I sing for joy.
My soul clings to you your right hand upholds me there's something very important and of course we need to Remember the
Lord in all times in the day in the morning in the evening. There's something about the nighttime and This doesn't happen too often
But every now and then if I'm thinking over a sermon Sometimes I'll wake up at 2 or 3 o 'clock in the morning and have an idea for a point or maybe a way
I want to restructure a sentence or maybe a different type of text or maybe a way to cut out something
There's a whole number of things that can happen But there's something about the way the mind works and the way we think about things and that's why they say
I'm sure this will come as no surprise to you. One of the things we always say is what? Sleep on it.
You ever had hey, let me sleep on it or you say hey, we're in a disagreement here
We can't decide what we need to do with this money or with this time or this resource Let's sleep on it or if you're trying to decide on a job whether to take a job not take a job whether to hire somebody not hire somebody say
Well, hey look, you know what? Let me sleep on it Why because you may feel differently about it the next day
There's something about the mind when it's able to be calm and rest and you may not this will even be conscious of it
But your mind's working and thinking through things and you're you know Digesting things and chewing on it so to speak
And so when he says I remember in the night your name I'm resting in my bed thinking and meditating sometimes at night before I go
To bed. I'm thinking through something. I want to write the next day or talk about or maybe a sermon idea
It's amazing to me how we come into a better place of being able to keep the law of the Lord and keep his word when we meditate on it and for some people the best meditation comes in the
We hours in the morning or in the late at late night hours Some people like to sit down and read at night
Some people like to do it first thing in the morning The key here is that the true essence of God in his word
Coming into your life and at night it is the thing that you sleep on is the thing that upholds you at night
You don't have to worry. You don't have to wonder you can hope and meditate on the Word of God Especially at nighttime.
