Then it went southward to the ascent of Acrobim, and passed on to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh Barnea, and continued to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and turned about to Karka.

And it passed on to Asman, and went out to the brook of Egypt. And the border ended at the sea.

This shall be your south border. And the east border was the salt sea, as far as the mouth of the

Jebusite on the south, that is, Jerusalem. And the border went up to the top of the mountain, which is before the valley of Hinnom, to the west, which is at the end of the valley of Rephium, toward the north.

From the top of the mountain, the border curved to the spring of the waters of Nephthoa, and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron.

Then the border curved to Bela, that is, Kiriath -Jerim. Then the border turned about from Bela, westward to Mount Syre, and continued to the slope of Mount Jerim on the north, that is,

Then the border curved to Shecheron, and passed on to Mount Bela, and went out to Jabneel, and the border ended at the sea.

And the west border was at the great sea, even its coastline. This is the border around the sons of Judah, according to their families.

Now he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh, a portion among the sons of Judah, according to the command of Yahweh to Joshua, namely,

Kiriath -Arba, Arba being the father of Anak, that is, Hebron. And Caleb dispossessed from there the three sons of Anak, Shishai and Ahimon, and Telmai, the children of Anak.

Then he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir. Now the name of Debir formerly was

Kiriath -Sephir. And Caleb said, The one who strikes down Kiriath -Sephir and captures it,

So he gave him Axa, his daughter, as a wife. Now it happened that when she came to him, she enticed him to ask her father for a field.

Kiriath -Bel, that is Kiriath -Jerim, and Rabah, two cities with their villages, in the wilderness,

Now as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not dispossess them.

Great is our Lord and abundant in power, his discernment is infinite. YHWH helps up the afflicted, he brings down the wicked to the ground.

Sing to YHWH with thanksgiving, sing praises to our God on the lyre. He is the one who covers the heavens with clouds, the one who provides rain for the earth, the one who makes grass to sprout on the mountains, who gives to the animal its food and to the young ravens which call out.

He does not delight in the might of the horse, he does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.

YHWH is pleased with those who fear him, those who wait for his lovingkindness. Lord YHWH, O Jerusalem, praise your

The one who sends forth his command to the earth, his word runs very swiftly. The one who gifts snow like wool, he scatters the frost like ashes.

Who casts forth his ice as fragments, who can stand before his cold? He sends forth his word and melts them, he causes his wind to blow and so the waters flow.

Who declares his words to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel? He has not done so with any nation, so as for his judgments, they have not known them.

The word that came to Jeremiah from YHWH, saying, Stand in the gate of the house of YHWH, and you shall call out there this word, and you shall say,

Hear the word of YHWH, all you of Judah, who enter by these gates to worship YHWH.

Thus says YHWH of hosts, the God of Israel, Make your ways and your deeds good, and I will let you dwell in this place.

Do not trust in lying words, saying, This is the temple of YHWH, the temple of YHWH, the temple of YHWH.

For if you truly make your ways and your deeds good, if you truly do justice between a man and his neighbor, if you do not oppress the sojourner, the orphan or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your own evil demise, then

I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. Behold, you are trusting in lying words to no avail.

Therefore, I will do to the house which is called by my name, in which you trust, and to the place which

I gave you and your fathers, as I did to Shiloh. I will cast you out of my presence, as I have cast out all your brothers, all the seed of Ephraim.

As for you, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a cry of lamentation or prayer for them, and do not intercede with me, for I am not hearing you.

Are you not seeing what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers make the fire burn, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven, and they pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to provoke me.

Do they provoke me, declares Yahweh? Is it not themselves they provoke to the shame of their own face?

Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh, Behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.

Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat flesh.

For I did not speak to your fathers or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.

But this is what I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice, and I will be your

Yet they did not listen or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth. Cut off your hair and cast it away, and lift up a funeral lamentation on the bare heights.

For Yahweh has rejected and abandoned the generation of his wrath. For the sons of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight, declares

Yahweh. They have set their detestable things in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which

I did not command, and it did not come upon my heart. Therefore, behold, days are coming, declares

Yahweh, when it will no longer be called Topheth or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of the slaughter.

For they will bury in Topheth, because there is no other place. The dead bodies of this people will be food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth, and no one will frighten them away.

Then I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land will become a waste place.

And the disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them, and brought the donkey and the colt and laid their garments on them, and he sat on the garments.

And most of the crowd spread their garments in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.

And the crowds going ahead of him and those who followed were crying out, saying, Hosanna to the son of David, blessed is he who comes in the name of the

Lord, Hosanna in the highest. And when he had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying,

Who is this? And the crowds were saying, This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth and Galilee.

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who were selling doves.

And he said to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a robber's den.

And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the marvelous things which he had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, saying,

Hosanna to the son of David, they became indignant, and said to him, Do you hear what these children are saying?

And Jesus said to them, Yes, have you never read, Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for yourself?

And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and he spent the night there. Now in the morning, when he was returning to the city, he became hungry.

And seeing a lone fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only.

And he said to it, No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you. And at once the fig tree withered.

And seeing this, the disciples marveled, saying, How did the fig tree wither all at once?

And Jesus answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain,

And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him while he was teaching and said,

By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority? And Jesus answered and said to them,

I do these things. The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?

And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, If we say from heaven, he will say to us,

Then why did you not believe him? But if we say from men, we fear the crowd, for they all regard

John as a prophet. And they answered Jesus and said, We do not know. He also said to them,

Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. But what do you think?

A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, Son, go work today in the vineyard.

And he answered and said, I will not. But afterward he regretted it and went. And the man came to the second and said the same thing.

And he answered and said, I will, sir. But he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?

They said, The first. Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him.

And you, seeing this, did not even regret afterwards so as to believe him. Listen to another parable.

There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a wall around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and rented it out to vine growers and went on a journey.

Now when the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine growers to receive his fruit.

And the vine growers took his slaves and beat one and killed another and stoned a third. Again he sent another group of slaves larger than the first, and they did the same thing to them.

But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, They will respect my son. But when the vine growers saw the son, they said among themselves,

This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance. And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Therefore when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine growers? They said to him,

He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and he will rent out the vineyard to other vine growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons.

Jesus said to them, Did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief cornerstone, this came about from the

Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruit of it.

And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it falls it will scatter him like dust.

And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they understood that he was speaking about them.

And although they were seeking to seize him, they feared the crowds, because they were guarding him to be a prophet.
