faith in him. In our bulletin it said, not our bulletin, our prayer calendar, my apologies, it said this new year we will wait in hope.
00:19
We will wait in hope and the definition of hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
00:31
We have a desire for certain things to happen. End to the chaos and the disdain and the heartache and the separation and the foolishness of man.
00:46
We have a hope that that might end one day, but if it doesn't we have hope.
00:54
We still have hope. Turn to me in Psalm 56 verse 11 and I know many of you know this, but he uses the word trust instead of hope, but it means the same thing.
01:12
We are to hope in him, we are to trust in him. Psalm 56 11, in God I trust,
01:21
I shall not be afraid, what can man do to me?
01:28
If we are believers, our souls are secure, our home is secure, our future is secure, eternally.
01:41
Now, tomorrow, today, the next day, man may damage the flesh, but our hope is eternal.
01:53
And then in 1 Peter 1 verse 3, it says,
02:01
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
02:20
So briefly, I wanted to ask you, what brings you hope? His word, is that a common response, his word?
03:12
We are, we're frail, fearful, fleshly people and we forget the forever.
03:26
Jill? Jesus' blood and righteousness, not on gold and silver, possessions or power or position or place.
03:45
And some would say, on blood? Yes. The blessed blood of the triune
03:53
God in the flesh, in the form of Jesus, in the manhood of Jesus.
04:06
Do you hear that? God's track record brings him hope. He doesn't fail us, does he?
04:19
We fail him, or we may think he failed us, but when we look back, we see it's just what it was supposed to be.
04:31
Yes, occur, the miracle.
05:21
Yeah, each one of us.
05:43
I, I was reminded yesterday, um, as I watched some news that the names of those people who are doing what they're doing right now, in a hundred years, won't be remembered.
06:03
They may not be remembered in 10 years or 25, but the name of Jesus is remembered forever.
06:21
I wanted to, anybody know who Booker T. Washington is? Was? Yeah, he is, it is a was.
06:32
So Booker T. started out as a uneducated, didn't even have a last name, plantation slave boy, and went on to become the president of one of the most prestigious colleges in the
06:49
South and had great influence in a, in the conservative world. Um, but he said this, and this helps to put in perspective and give us hope.
07:02
Now I'll explain it in a moment, but he said, this is a quote, a lie doesn't become truth.
07:11
Wrong doesn't become right. And evil doesn't become good just because it's accepted by a majority.
07:25
In light of our day and time, um, there are many things being spoken that are not truth that are truly lies that are not good.
07:38
And it appears and seems that the majority is agreeing with that, but we know better.
07:48
We have hope that truth will prevail. God's truth will prevail.
07:57
I'd like to, uh, go through some prayer requests tonight, uh, before we pray.
08:03
And, uh, I want to start with a few, and then
08:09
I'll share with these, begin with first a celebration. Yes, it's hot.
08:20
Are you not able to hear a little more three, four, five, one, two, one, two.
08:36
Are we good now? Okay. Sorry about that.
08:45
I'm glad someone raised their hand. Um, so I want to start with a celebration of sorts or praise.
08:53
Um, the Hamiltons are due, uh, either early, late
08:58
May or early June. I have a little boy due and his name has already been branded on him.
